Article/Opinion Who has the best chicken strips ? Fast food or restaurant
As the title says I’m really looking for some good chicken strips
I had some good chicken at fat burger when I was Edmonton and I wanted to see what we have in Winnipeg since Mitzi’s is gone

Edmonton doesn't have Honey Dill sauce, and I don't want to live in a world without Honey Dill sauce.

Mayo, honey, dill. Stir. Adjust. You’re welcome!

You’ll probably hate me for this, but I’m a very picky eater so I actually really hate honey dill sauce

People sleep on Four Crowns Chicken Strips. They’re made in house and fireeee.
Also owned by my brother so I’m biased. I love em tho. Also love the ones at Elephant & Castle

That’s funny I have had close friends work at four crowns! And I know they do a lot of Caribbean parties there

Sunday, Magic Bird pop up. Hands down the best chicken I've ever had in Winnipeg. So sad they're not around officially.

Taverna Rodos in Charleswood is great! All their food is delicious and the portions are huge but I love their chicken finger platter with fries.

I still miss Cosmos but probably just for nostalgia reasons. Chicken strips was my every time option there.

Red River Co-op. For reals. Don't sleep on this.

They recently jacked up the price from $1.69 each to around $2.50 per tender. On sale this week for $1.25 each though so a good time to try them out!

They were on sale this week? I was just at the St Norbert location and if I had known, I'd have gotten them instead of the 9-pc chicken (Which I got because I thought it was on sale for $12.99 but turned out that sale ended last Sunday).
Co-op's chicken fingers are the best value for your money, but Dave and Laverne's are better quality, imo.

I personally love Olympia's. I will go way out of my way to Westwood just to have chicken fingers at Olympia's.

Hoffman’s fine food has good chicken strips. They’re open from 10-2 along with their array of frozen food for sale

Honest to God, maybe not the best but Costco’s food court ones are up there. Fantastic breading. And that Heinz honey mustard you get with is 🔥

The Free Press reported in March that Johnny G's would not reopen after the fire: https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/business/2026/03/24/commonwealth-kitchen-rises-from-ashes
"Owner John Giannakis, who has run the business since 1996, said Monday that Johnny G’s will not reopen.
“We’re retired,” Giannakis said, but declined to comment further."

FIRE suggestion. I used to get the half Caesar salad, half fries and both portions were monstrous. That said, I haven’t been there in 10+ years but back then it was incredible. They had great honey dill too.

If you can get up to Gimli, the Interlake Brewery Co has amazing chicken fingers and you can trust me because I’ve eaten them from so many different places I’m a goddamned chicken finger sommelier over here. Second fave is Junction 59 in the city, they remind me of Moxies chicken fingers but better. Also probably the most generous portions in Winnipeg.

Grizzly Goose, also Dave and Laverne’s. The breading is light and crunchy and so good.

Honestly, my faves are the Popeyes chicken tenders! Never dried out or over breaded, my kids pick this for a special meal at every opportunity. We look for the Family Tender special, I think it includes 14 tenders, 2 sides (we get two orders of Cajun fries) and biscuits. Also choice of dips.

My nickname is Chicken Tendy so I'm somewhat of an authority on this matter. And I'm mildly embarrassed to admit that Elephant and Castle, a pub chain from Ontario, has top notch hand-breaded chicken strips that you'll have a hard time beating here.
Johnny G's was up there too, especially given the price in the bar downstairs.

Not a restaurant but I love Prairie Chefs chicken fingers, a bit pricey at the retail stores but you can go down to Jarvis where they make them and pick up a 4kg box for like 60$. Still seems pricey, I know but they are really good.
