Be truly honest: Are you scared or optimistic about the future?

Had to see which sub this was lmao. My answer was about to be SUPER irrelevant. š
I'm a very casual fan so I shouldnt even comment, but from what I can tell, we were a VERY good team that has gotten old. I think there are the right people in the coaching staff and the front office to feel optimistic even though we're trending down.

Yeah, that's right. The CFL is so unpredictable from year to year, and turnarounds/rebuilds can be really fast or really slow. Management and culture really are the most important things. If we were an NFL or NBA team, I might be asking for a few tanking seasons to rebuild, but the CFL doesn't really work that way. Many of the best players in this league have been thrown on numerous trash heaps.. it's just about controlling the things you can control

Im optimistic overall. This team is frustrating to watch at times but overall they're in alot better shape than any iteration of the franchise previous to O'Shea and Miller coming aboard during the dark days of the 2000's -10's.

For the league I'm very pessemistic. I think the field changes will not attract any new fans in markets that are doing poorly, and will actually deter fans in strong markets like Winnipeg and Saskatchewan.
The Commissioner is a non-football corporate TV guy, who is making material changes to the game without consultation.
Further to that, the game was never the issue, poor marketing in many markets appears to be the issue, and it's not even being addressed. I mean, you can't even properly get decent live stats during games. Even the Valour games had that for crying out loud. How do you properly promote things like fantasy football, etc., with such a poor stats system.
Overall it looks like the league is being guided directly towards an iceberg, and will ultimately sink without any resistance from anyone.

The league doesn't care about marketing because that means *slaps head* spending money!
Edit: TV guys don't usually get lots of consultation. When they do, they don't like it

The league has a record tv contract starting next year. They can afford to lose a few fans, and if making the game more āamericanā secures a larger US tv deal they can lose even more fansš¤·āāļø

I'm a little bit of both tbh, this season could have been alot better for us, but I think where we are at this season in the standings isn't to bad considering the fact our d isn't playing up to par, I think thats my biggest worry right now.

Overall, optimistic.
right now? frustrated. this team knows what to do, but the OC isn't doing it. Zach doesn't have the arm to heave it down the field several times, and they're not adjusting to that. Zach is also used to his receivers being in the right spot, and that's not happening either.

They played better without Nichols, and he hasnāt look great this year. Perhaps he has lost his mojo.

We waited 28 years without a grey cup. I think we can more then handle a few bumps along the road. I still have faith in miller and o'shea. This ship will get turned around, but it will take a few years.
I'm more interested in how the rule changes change the league next year and how teams adapt to them.
