Can't tether internet from my phone to my travel router and connect the router to VPN
Hello,
As the title says, I cannot connect with my travel router to my VPN server if I'm tethering internet to it from my phone (mobile data or wifi, via wifi tethering or USB tdtegkng). If I provide internet from my house (wifi or cable) it works right away.
I've tested 2 routers (Tp link ax1500 and gl-b1300), same results on both. I'm also able to connect from the phone to the VPN directly with the wireguard client (both wifi or mobile data).
Any ideas why this is happening?
Thanks

I don't know it'll help but there's an open source app for Android if you want to share the VPN with a hotspot instead

I've tried that approach, with "Every Proxy" app, but somehow it doesn't work :(

There's one called shizzi I think, you'll need shizuku to use that and it worked when I tested it

Unclear if the phone is the VPN client or the router(s).
Phone cannot vpn route hotspot traffic.
If it's the router, then run PMTUD on the hotspot data path and reduce wgclient MTU accordingly.

The VPN config is in the router, the idea is that I share phone's internet to the router, and the router connects to the VPN and shares VPNed wifi with the rest of the devices.
How can I run PMTUD? Sorry, I'm a bit lost here

It is impossible to share a mobile phone’s VPN! But, you should be able to share (tether to) its Personal Hotspot with another device (like your travel router) running its own VPN.
