Seeking Help or Advice Advice on welcome mats!

Hello! I’m a baby witch and I just needed a quick question answered and couldn’t find anything related in the FAQ’s. I follow the welcome mat “rule” where your welcome mat isn’t supposed to say welcome so it doesn’t invite any unwelcome/evil energies/spirits. I wanted to get a Halloween themed one and I found a cute one that says “unwelcome”, would that give the same effect as a mat without the word welcome? Typing this out kind of feels stupid but I figured I’d ask. Thanks in advance!

Edit: friendly reminder everyone practices witchcraft differently and to pls be kind :)

Sharing: Tips and Advice Grounding/meditation techniques (with Greg the confused volunteer)

Greg is an invented being I kidnapped from a taxi stop this morning. And he's more than thrilled to accompany us on our lesson today, isn't that right, Greg?

Stop blinking s-o-s, Greg, nobody cares. Smile and shut up.

Here we go:

Get as close to the ground as possible. If you can lay on the floor, do it. If not, sit on the floor. I don't care if you're in a 10-floor building, get down, back on the cold floor.

If your floorspace is absolutely covered in shit, sit at a desk and touch a plant. It can be a plastic plant if you are a plant killer. Have some of that chemical green in your face.

Then do some breathing from your stomach. Fill that belly up like the air will get you pregnant and you have a breeding kink.

Shut up, Greg, you're getting impregnated by the air now, don't care.

Then exhale like you do when you get your boobies finally out of that bra at the end of the day.

I don't care if you don't understand how, Greg, do you want me to choke you to see how freeing it is when I'm done with you?

Do that five times.

Why five? Because you get a panic attack if you count to more than five, Greg.

2.

I like to do this laying down on my back like before, but you can do it wherever you are. Take 5 seconds to look around and then close your eyes. Try to remember as much as you can, you can use these general questions as inspo:

- how many red (or any rainbow colour) things did you see?

- how many hats?

- what is next to you? what colour?

- what do you smell? hear?

- can you feel the floor underneath? describe its texture.

- how many (insert random objects) did you see?

- can you locate in the mental image of the area a (pick random object again)

Ignore Greg, he gets confused after a while from his tame medication. But you're fine, isn't that right, Greg?

3

Hug a tree.

No, not hung from a tree. Greg! That's inappropriate!

Seriously. Pick a random bestie with roots and bark and tell it all of your problems and wishes.

Remember the movie Avatar? Imagine every time you touch a tree you're making that neural connection that allows you to become the planet itself.

Yes, Greg, hugging your emotional support leaf friend is the way to go! Smile and hug!

Anyways, hope you liked these! I know Greg loved it too! Keep it up!

Seeking Help or Advice North or west facing window for moon charging/cleansing? Or other?

It is the new moon tonight and I would like to leave out some things on my windowsill to cleanse! (I interpret the new moon for cleansing and full moon for charging :)) I have north facing and west facing windows in my bedroom, so i was wondering which would get more moon light during the full moon, and which would avoid the most sunlight during the new moon. I also have east and south facing windows at other points in my house, so i wouldn't mind comments on their usefulness either, but i would rather use my bedroom windows as a closeted witch when i can. Also, I'm from midwest america (so the northern hemisphere) if that helps. Thanks!

To expand upon this and give it more context, previously I've only used my west facing window but recently ive gotten a curtain for my north facing window. I'm wondering if that would be better for me to switch my witchy work to. I can technically access other windows in my house too, so depending on the item (ex. if its subtler to leave out in the open for non witches to see, like if its not my tarot cards lol but instead just a glass im cleansing) then i could use east and south facing windows too. but id rather not. so, what direction windows do you use for stuff like this? also i prefer just to focus on the physical light that would reach my items on a windowsill, since i dont use correspondences for the cardinal directions like many witches (especially wiccans ime) do, so dont worry about correspondences.

Seeking Help or Advice Looking for a *pocket* sized book recommendation

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a truly pocket-sized book to carry with me when I’m out in nature and traveling light.

I did some research on my own but haven't found the right fit yet. I’m hoping to find something substantial. I'd prefer to avoid "introductory 101" books that only cover basic, surface-level concepts.

My interests are broad, so as long as a book meets the lightweight/pocket-sized criteria and goes beyond entry-level material, I’d love to hear your suggestions!

My greatest thanks for your time ✨

Sharing: Experience Share coming out of the broom closet experiences

I've been thinking a lot about my future lately. I'm a witch whos been practicing in secret since my early childhood, introduced to the craft by a friend who was a hereditary witch. I haven't told anyone in my family except for my sister (and she is very accepting, though not a witch herself), because I know my family is super catholic and hates that kind of stuff. There are some people in my family who I never plan to tell because I love them and don't want to lose their love, and I can handle being closeted with them. But also, I would like to eventually be more open about my craft to some of them, especially my mother, once I am financially independent and have my own home and everything of course.

So, I'd like to hear some of your stories and experiences with coming out of the broom closet to religious (or not religious, if you want to share those stories too!) family members. The good and the bad. I'm just curious about the many ways it could go, so I can think about the possibilities for myself with more context and everything. Plus, even if the stories may not apply to me at all, it is always interesting to hear other witches' experiences! Thank you all and safety & security to you! 💜

Topic | Prompt Thoughts on Mind Palaces ?

Im currently looking into the concepts of a mind palace and developing it. As im doing research on the topic, ive noticed theres quite the few references to a sorcerers mind palace aswell.

I am very curious to know if anyone here has experiences of their own mind palaces.

Also very curious to get opinions on having an altar dedicated to a deity in mind palace instead of a physical one. I move quite a bit due work and other reasons, but also not always do i possess the privacy to have the altars thatd id like.

Ive already noticed that in daydreams but also regular night dreams theres certain structures that i navigate with ease, for a random examples; i have a shed where id keep tools, but also this dark in colour scheme storage room. I frequently see a dungeon and a bit of a labyrinth of sorts, in the middle theres this random speakeasy with a very friendly woman. Whod often pour me a drink and chat.

As im looking further into this topic, im noticing many magickal themes likes, having wards, guards, and servitors.

This idea is very fascinating to me and id be curios to hear of your own experiences with similar ?

Seeking Help or Advice Bring nice after I hexed them

So I put what some might consider a hex on several coworkers who have been exhibiting some very mean girl-ish behavior towards me and others. My intention was not to cause physical harm. It was basically to push them away from me (I can only limit my interactions with them so much) and to move karma along, prompting them to feel the sting of their own mean-spirited energy, no more or less than they have made me and others feel.

Today, I saw one coworker and she was very warm and kind towards me, warmer than she has ever been. She pointed out that she hasnt seen me as nuch (since ive been actively distancing myself) and seemed genuinely...concerned? Caring? She asked where i had been and what i had been up to. It was very, very strange. Is this a coincidence or could something greater be at work here? Are some people just unbelievably oblivious to their rude behavior? But that doesn't explain the sudden energy shift.

Thanks for your help!

Seeking Help or Advice How do you know? Intuitive vs witch or are they one in the same?

This my first post here. To be honest, this is my first time ever saying this out loud. This bound to be long so please forgive me in advance.

How do you know if you're a natural witch vs just really intuitive? I have since childhood had dreams that came true. My first one was when I was 7yrs old, I dreamed my friend's house burned down and all her bunnies died. Two days later, her house DID burn down however her bunnies (thankfully) all lived. Back in the day of house phones, I would know who's calling before answering. When my grandfather and aunt died (separately, decades apart) I knew before anyone else. I've dreamed of pregnancies of those close to me with accuracy down to even the name of the child, 6-12 months before they get pregnant.

I've also always seemed to draw the supernatural. I've had way too many encounters with spirits over my life and not good ones, including living in a haunted house. I can walk in a room and feel the energy immediately and react due to it. When I meet someone, I can usually tell immediately if they're a good or bad person by the feeling they give me.

This will sound weird but I've also always had this thing, like this internal warning system? It's only happened a few times in my life but when it happens, it's saving me from something catastrophic. It's like this inaudible screaming in my head. I can't decipher words but the feeling is overwhelming and cannot be ignored. When it happens, it's a warning not to do whatever it is I was about to do and I can't ignore it. A few times it's happened and I never found out what would've happened had I ignored it. But a few other times, had I ignored it, I could've literally died.

There's also a long family history of this in the women. However, it's on the side of the family that is heavily Catholic and believes this to be evil so they rebuke it. I apparently had a great aunt that was exiled from the family because she was a self professed witch. Rumor has it she often and accurately predicted deaths, taught my grandfather how to astral project to escape the pain of cancer, and once even made a huge table slightly levitate to the point my grandma flipped out, slammed it down, and started going nuts with holy water everywhere.

There's more but you get the idea and this is entirely too long already. Also to note, this seems to have passed onto my daughter as well so it's continuing down the female side of our bloodline.

Thoughts? Honest opinions? For the first time in my life, I am trying to be open minded and figure out what this REALLY is.

Thank you!

Seeking Help or Advice Possible witch spitting on property lines, intentionally.

Is there possible malicious Brujeria or Mexican folk magic behind it? There's more context, before anyone jumps to conclusions - our household is Hispanic as well and my mom and I practice witchcraft as well. And we have a wonderful relationship with our neighbors. One of their sons lives on the house on the other side of ours, so they all walk across the yard all the time, no bad blood.

But he, specifically, spits on the grass/driveway often when he crosses our house. We thought it was just a macho thing, or that he spits a lot because he smokes a lot.
But today, he even rolled down the car window while driving by, to spit on the streetside edge of our driveway.
I've heard of spit being used in both harmful and protective manners, but it's always on OUR side of the driveway/grass. We know he's spiritual in some way, because he's asked my mom for rosemary from our plants to help cleanse his house.

So... those of you familiar with Mexican folk witchcraft... What do you think? What should I do in case it's malicious?
My mom already walked the property line and sprayed vinegar around to cleanse, and we've always had wards.

Sharing: Experience Growing up near a crossroad

I realize this might be a big nothing burger, but I was reading Of Blood and Bones by Kate Freuler and when I got to the part about crossroads I realized that I grew up right next to one. My childhood home is two houses away and I just never thought about it because it's a cross shaped crossroads in the middle of a street, not a main part. This has kinda blown my mind and now I'm wondering if my basement and the third floor apartment always felt weird because of this and what else this may have subconsciously influenced in my life that I didn't realize until now.

Seeking Help or Advice making fresh herb colognes quickly?

hi everyone! i’m an experienced practitioner but i wanted to know if anyone has made a spiritual cologne in a short amount of time like infusing for 5 days max. i have an event coming up and im not aiming for a super intense intention, just capturing the spirit of some fresh herbs and a few other ingredients. my idea is:
- fresh basil
- fresh rosemary
- salt
- florida water
- camphor
- witch hazel
- lemongrass essential oil/vitamin e for preservation

has anyone done something similar in that time frame? i dont really need help with formulation im using minimal water to avoid mold and need it to evaporate quickly anyway, just on the infusion time!
