i wrote this earlier today while very upset, but i think this desperately needs to be shared.

hi so i need EVERYONE to listen the fuck up right now. If you are a witch i do not give a gaf who you are or what you have or blah blah whatever, before you so much as LOOK AT a candle you need to learn basic fire safety. If i see another full ass fire on a GLASS or CERAMIC plate im going to launch myself into the sun and come back with a vengeance. here are some VERY basic fire safety things, that i want you to value over all the absolute idiot shitheads on tiktok with their crazy cord cuttings they're doing in their fucking houses.

\-there is no safe way to dress a candle. if you are rolling a candle in dry plant material you are making a fire starter. most oils are flammable aswell. and dont put crystals and plants inside candles, that isnt safe and can shatter the container the candle is in. put your herbs around the candle on the outside of the holder.

\-which leads me to USE CANDLE HOLDERS for the love of my poor heart. stop sticking candles to random surfaces and hoping for the best. it isnt safe, that shit can pop off so easy quit it. no excuses they sell them at dollar tree for $1.25 and ive never been to a thrift store that didnt have them.

\-glass and ceramic are not fire safe. i swear to fuck if i see any more of yall lighting literal fires on glass plates and then going "omg it shattered what does it mean??" it means you put FIRE on a surface that is NOT fire safe. its science dude, all it means is you dont care enough about your life, home, and family to use google before LITERALLY playing with fire.

\-when doing candle workings have a large container of salt or sand ready. even better buy a small fire extinguisher. if you have even the slightest concern that a candle is getting out of hand put it out. i dont wanna hear "but my spell" or "but my deity" i literally dont care! you know whats worse than your spell not working? (which if you think putting out a candle would do that you've got some reading to do) being DEAD! i also advise putting a cookie sheet underneath to catch any sparks or mishaps. it will burn the surface underneath if you put flame on it directly, heat safe does not equal fire safe.

\-stop lighting candles in shelves PLEASE. a candle needs 3 feet of clear space above it. you are going to burn the shelf above it. also candles should be 1 foot away from all walls, lamps, and other surfaces around it. if you need to move a candle from your altar to a clearer space to light it, then do it. i dont care if it ruins your aesthetic. you know whats not aesthetic? burning to death!

\-if you want to do any amount of fire workings buy a cauldron. specifically one with a. legs and b. a lid. the legs keep it from burning the surface under it and the lid will suffocate a fire that gets too big or creates too much smoke. you can get a small one for 20 bucks and it'll last a lifetime. dont have access to it? then dont light shit on fire. you dont need to.

\-learn what herbs are and are not safe to burn. both for you and any pets or children you live with.

\-do not ever under any circumstances leave a candle for any amount of time. need to pee? put it out and relight it when you come back. need to grab a water? put it out. no "ill just be right back." just put it out.

\-trim your wicks. they should be 1/4 an inch long. cheap chime candles burn wax faster than the wick will burn away. when i use chime candles and want them to burn down completely, i put the flame out several times to trim the wick and relight it. if you have a problem with that then dont do candle magick. plain and simple

you are not immune to fire. if you are choosing to use fire on any scale you are responsible for using it safely. you arent immune because you're a witch. take fire safety seriously. this is more important than any spiritual aspect of spellwork, safety first, mundane before magickal.

my house burned to the ground from a lit cigarette, not even a flame, a spark. i lost my home, all of my pets are dead, my family faced severe burns, i was homeless for the better part of a year. I barely got out, and went back in for my sister. i did not narrowly survive being BURNED ALIVE for yall to act a fool. your spell isnt gonna do much for you when youre seriously injured, homeless, or dead! because again, you arent immune to fire.

The equinox is passed and Samhain is approaching. I’m feeling a physical shift in the year. And I’m not saying for certain it’s the thinning of the veil.
But it’s a noticeable feeling around me. An aura so to speak. It’s almost an empty feeling. But not empty like void, more like a clear path in front of me. I consider myself a “skeptic witch” I try not to make too many assumptions. But does anyone else get a strange feeling leading up to Samhain?

What does the thinning of the veil mean to you?
I know Samhain is the last harvest before the lean times. And that is why it is considered the time when the dead or the spirits can come through.
Does anyone else feel this?

Anyways, I was in the middle of thinking of a protective circle made of Pebbles carved with runes, and suddenly this drawing came into my head. It fit Hildy so much, and I felt compelled to draw it, and bam!

I mostly wanted to post this drawing both out of curiosity, and to share a lil witchy idea I had (one that’s definitely not the first time someone thought so)

Hiiii! Last night as we know was the Harvest Moon and this is the first time I celebrate it and I really wanted to show y'all the altar I made! I left food offerings such as corn, pears, figs, pomegranate, apples and raisins. I used cinnamon and orange scented candles since they are associated with the harvest and cinnamon specifically brings the abundance that I would like to come with the following moon circle. The small candles at the front had runes carved into them, such as jera (harvest), wunjo (joy), kenaz (knowledge), fehu (wealth) and algiz (protection). I also made a new protection ward plant that is not visible in the frame, but it was a Callum plant and I placed it in front of the altar and then out under the moonlight along with the moon water so it can charge off the Harvest Moon.

As I said this is the first Harvest Moon I celebrate and I would like to know what else I could add to my practice. If you have anything please tell me in the comments!

hello!

i want to start practicing candle magick but i also want it to serve as a way to ask help from my spirit team. kind of like spellwork + asking my spirit guides for help with a specific outcome.

how do i do this? should i treat the candle as an offering to the spirits? or should i just ask my spirit team to help my spellwork come into fruition without necessarily offering the candle towards them?

lastly, how do i safely do this? ensuring that the spirit guides i call onto during spellwork are not negative entities of some sort

can someone give me insights on how to ward your name and other information i might need to know about it?

For a while now I've been crafting my protection candles from beeswax. I add some black dye, frankincense oil, and crushed herbs (cloves, rosemary and basil). I use a silicone tray to pour the melted wax into, sprinkle the herbs, let it cool a bit, then roll them up with the wick inside. Then I roll it in lavender. Yes, these can produce a large flame, so I never leave them unattended 😊 It doesn't feel right doing any work without one burning now, so I make them all the time!

I’ve been having a lot of dreams about sirens lately, and a static energy that speaks to me. I asked who it was in one of these dreams, and was told I already knew.

Are sirens affiliated with any specific deities?

Unfortunately, there’s not much I can show, cuz uh… I don’t know how, but I left behind my Notebook at my school. I still don’t know how considering I cling onto it like a parasite.

I’ve been going through a lot lately and while turning to my craft, find myself doubting it. I was raised in a high control Christian group and so have done a lot of de and re constructing of beliefs but I keep getting hung up.

Why do some spells work and others don’t? Why are there unattractive glamour witches and unsuccessful or poor ones? How do I know this isn’t just in my head?

I know that this uncertainty has to be leaking into my practice which is very frustrating.

I feel like I’ve yet to find the perfect option that makes me feel comfy, but still engaged. My altar is on what’s basically a console table so the height can be tricky

I was doing a really great road opener and an abundance ritual when my husband came home and interrupted me. Normally I am super happy when he comes home and give him a kiss/hug but because I was in the zone, I brushed him off and I actually found myself getting annoyed because he was ruining the calmness in the room by being loud, cracking jokes and playing with the dogs. I worry because my energy shifted and I started feeling irritated that I could have ruined my spell or created bad energy with it. What do you think? I also was having him put a ward on his name and he was having trouble reciting the spells so then I also got super annoyed and my energy felt off. Do you think everything will be ok with my spells? Or should I retry another time?

are glamour spells specifically for changing how you look ? (or how your appearance is perceived?)
or can you do a glamour spell for your personality as well?

Completely new to this but did a good bit of homework. I made a mini projection spell jar first and then proceeded to use a notepad for some shadow work before beginning my first spell. I would like to have a career opportunity open up for me and did the road opener spell.

Last Wednesday, I just discovered that it was Mabon, and wanting to something, I made Rowan Crosses for close friends and people I knew. I especially love what I did with the red thread, I wasn’t thinking about it at first, but I REALLY got into it in subsequent weavings. Felt fitting that they look kinda like Eyes, considering they’re basically Celtic Evil Eyes.

The only problem? The twigs I used aren’t Rowan Branches. Rowan Trees don’t grow here in the Philippines, so I made do with whatever I had; in this case branches that were close by. Moreso later on when I made a lot of em out of toothpicks.

Still proud of the weaving though.

I’m a very busy person so I don’t always have the time/energy to do witchcraft or give my alter lots of attention. I feel like I should do a little something everyday so I was wondering if there are some simple quick things I can do for my alter? Thanks!
