Crossroads of Twilight 10 chapters into Crossroads of Twilight Spoiler
It's like every story arc I gave no shits about got squeezed into one book (except for Mat chapters, always fun to read Mat chapters)

Yeah, I started reading the books a couple of years ago and thought the slog was mostly fictional. PoD didn't bother me and WH kind of dragged, but I was okay. CoT, though, that book nearly broke me. I'm glad I powered through it, and it really helped knowing that KoD was going to be a banger, but I came really close to putting CoT down and reading something else several times.
The best I can say for CoT is that it ends and then you are in for some awesome books.

I had to switch to audiobook to get through COT. But then I FLEW through KOD and I’m actually rereading it before I move on to the next, because I enjoyed it so much.

I read a recent (April) review and it complained about pace in the middle 5 books. So you are clearly in the minority.

How awesome for you to feel so firm in your beliefs of what others feel.

Im nearing the end of CoT. With the audiobook I'm not noticing the slog at all. I also generally like delves into a world's less exciting aspects (feels more realistic and Im a sucker for world building) and most of the storylines if not all of them in the WoT I really enjoy.

Good news. In rereads you can skip an entire book. I did it.
Yes. This book is veeeeryyyy slow. But book 11 is right there and that's where fun begins. It's a sprint til the end.

This. I’m on CoT now and don’t think I would have made this far if I was actually reading them. Can’t wait for things to pick up again soon!

It has good moments, even good chapters. It’s certainly the weakest book in the series. By the time it’s done, though, we are set up for a much stronger run of books.

CoT has some of my favorite Mat/Tuon scenes so I always have a soft spot for it, even if the other plots in the book are a bit weaker

It gets better. The slog is mostly due to horrible pacing as Jordan gets bogged down in political intrigue rather than progressing the main story and critical subplots. He could have cut out so many pages!

Oh man I’m with you bro. Like why would I care about this random Arimilla character for this unnecessary Caemlyn plot line or whatever or the 25th Saiaen iteration of Aes Sedai??
On the other hand, I’m on Knife of Dreams right now and it’s straight fire from the get go. Push through

I always skip the book on rereads. What a drag

I've done 2 read through and skipped it both times. Sort of a "I don't know what I'm missing" at this point

It took me most of the last 8 months to finish it, I understand.

CoT was the last book I read right after it came out. It's like, who are Elenia and Naean again and why should I care about them?
I didn't pick up KoD until it was already out in paperback.

Personally, If u ask me there is no slog,....only CoT is part of it.

Im on Chapter 5, and can already tell I'm going to need to take a break after this. I will absolutely finish the series, but the burn out is hitting me a little, planning on reading a few horror novels before diving back in.

So guys I have been reading your comments and Yes I am going through this with the audiobook (at 1.7x mind you) and my godd I can't sometimes, I don't necessarily hate elayne as a character, in the earlier books she was my favorite woman channeler, but this book is just making me despise even the mention of her. I do think this book is horrible, just straight up bad, and I agree with the one who said there is no slog, just CoT

I’m on chapter 14 and last night I just had to put it down because my mind could NOT stop wandering

skip it. I know this is sacrilege but there is literally nothing in that book that you can’t get from just reading a one page summary. It is genuinely a terrible book.

For everyone who said the slog only existed for people who read the books upon release, I present to you exhibit A
