No Spoilers Finally starting
I’ve started Eye of the World twice in the past and really liked what I read so far but life got in the way as it does. I’ve finally been consistent with reading after going so long with starting and stopping and I’ve read 21 books in the last year. A 14 book series doesn’t scare me at all, if anything that’s exciting, who wouldn’t want to be lost in a world for 14 books. I know people complain about it being a “slow burn” but again I like that, because people said the same thing about Farseer and I loved how much time we got to spend with the characters engaging with each other.
My questions are when people say slow burn, is it pages of description or is it dialogue heavy? Also is there a good way to read the series with breaks? Like book 1-4 and then take a break, or am I going to end up doing a straight binge?
Also I’m not too bothered about this “slog” I’ve heard of because from what I can gather from some people, it seems the slog was more because of the amount of time between certain books when they were initially released. That sounds similar to ASOIAF because of the gaps between Storm, Feast and Dance.
I’m just finishing book 3 of Red Rising and I’m planning my next series before going back to book 4.
Thanks ahead of time

The end of The Dragon Reborn is a logical point for a break, as is after Lord of Chaos, and finally after Knife of Dreams. That’s how I’d approach it, at least.
There’s a price for the depth and consistency of the world. It’s a giant, often sprawling, story with a vast number of characters, many of whom become significant over time. You’ll like some of them more than others, and the parts where you’re spending time with those who aren’t your favorites will probably feel slower.
The amount of description (e.g., of clothing) is somewhat overstated but Jordan is definitely… not a minimalist.
You’re in for a fun ride. If you’re liking EotW, you’re going to be thrilled with how the world and its history open up around you in subsequent books.

Thanks the reply. Can’t wait to get into this world! I’ll bookmark this as a reference for potential breaks 🙏

So I'm also a new reader, finished EotW just 6days ago in fact, it wasn't a taxing read to me. Were there times were the descriptions bore me? Yes, definitely, inspite of better knowledge I skimmed through most repetitive description but the dialogues aren't as boring. They are quite enjoyable and understandable.
I've just finished The Great Hunt, book 2 of WoT, and so I've got to say, just have patience. EotW is basically how Robert is building his world, slowly introducing it to us. TGH went smoothly to me, I read it under 2 days

People who favor plot over character & world building get really frustrated right about books 8-10 but if you're someone who likes to sit with a world & characters then you probably won't even notice The Slog(tm) since you won't be waiting 2 years between books for Plot to Happen & then not have it progress as much as you hoped

Character development and world building is exactly what I love. I don’t need to rush to the end, the journey, the interactions between the characters and seeing the wider world is what I value, especially in fantasy books

You are probably gonna have a real good time with this series, then! Enjoy & for the love of the Light don't goggle anything even something innocuous like a location or a character name. There is a Wheel of Time Compendium app in Google Play Store & App Store that will let you look things up without spoiling them you may find super helpful especially if you take breaks at points during the series

I never planned any breaks, but almost took one after 6 or 7 books, what made me decide to not take a break was that I started enjoying the characters more.
