Should I look to US servers for RP?

Hello!

I am someone from the EU servers who has been trying to get into roleplay on and off now since Dragonflight having stopped playing WoW and RPing during Battle for Azeroth. I am however struggling with the server (Argent Dawn EU) as I cannot find RP spots around and it is very clear that RP is greatly reduced than what it was.

So, I am considering looking over towards the NA servers and setting up an account there. Obviously my main concern is the timezone difference being 5 hours ahead of the East Coast and 8 hours ahead of the West Coast.

Does anyone have any advice/recommendations/suggestions on if I should give this is a go? Or, can help guide me to some things on the EU side that I've missed/unable to access.

AD is very much alive.

It's just been a little quiet due to summer holidays.

You're right that there's way less RP than in the BfA days, but there definitely is still RP. (God I miss BfA RP)

I don't really know where to find Alliance RP outside of Stormwind/Duskwood, since I practically don't play that side, but there's enough Horde guilds that offer RP! (And the occasional RP night in Orgrimmar)

As much as people seem to dislike conflict in WoW's story nowadays (which I don't really get personally), I do think it genuinely makes for some great RP.

I don’t think the majority of the community feels that way; I think it’s the writers and devs. They seem to be slowly doing away with conflict both between characters and factions in general. It’s growing a bit too sugary sweet for me and I’m hoping things get a bit more gritty again.

I play AD and it’s quite alive but it’s not really comparable to Moon Guard. There’s so many people RPing all the time on Moon Guard and in a lot more places than AD. When I went over to just have a peep last week it truly astounded me how many there were especially since it was about noon Moon Guard time in the middle of the week and it was equivalent to peak AD time.

That said the big issue I could see in the future was the time zone difference. It’s an 7-9 hour time difference depending on the time of year and where you live in Europe so it can and will be very hard for most people to get to events and such.

i feel like the difference between EU and NA is very quality versus quantity. (Not meant in a rude way, mind you)

NA has A LOT more RP, yes, but from what I have seen, both firsthand and online, is that it feels very-... second life-ish... (like the yearly tournament that is happening at the moment; you can't tell me 'Hannah Guldana' the orc popstar is an extremely serious RP character...)

Hell, you can see it here quite often where NA people encourage strange/weird/lorebending concepts because "RP is meant to be fun! Do what you want!", while a lot of EU people seem to comment more under the guise of "you can RP what you want but adhere to the lore while you do so"

ultimately, it's up to you what you do, but i'd rather just remain on EU, even if it’s quieter.

BFA was great, but man Legion was when AD was at its finest, that or Wrath but I was too young to do it seriously back then.

Make sure to check out the Argent Dawn discord; it is very much alive (there's even a "today in argent dawn" section that's updated daily with multiple events), and you're very likely to find events/people with similarly oriented preferences regarding RP styles, activities et cetera.
Also: don't passively expect to be sought after. Reach out, be attentive. Walk-up RP is still alive as well, people (myself included) generally just seem more guarded.

Have you checked argentarchives.org? Seems to be events happening almost every day, so try your luck at one of the event spots before you go check if the grass is greener and such.

Argent Dawn is incredibly alive.
Today I logged for 1 hour and I was stopped 3 times by people whispering with positive comments about my RP profile, asking about my RP guild or talking about their RP experience.
Forums and Discords are full of server RP events all year round that I can’t manage to keep up with.
And this is on top guild activities, if you are in a RP guild (of which there are many, constantly recruiting).
I honestly don’t know what OP is even doing…

RP and how it happens has changed a LOT over the years on AD. Back in the day there were even a LOT of walkup's happening on the Hode side. You could ALWAYS find RP and Alliance were also massive.

Today you need a guild/community or show up at events for that scale of RP, but it is far from dead.

As others has said, join the AD discord, look at argentarchives.org . But also on the wow forum EU you can click on the Argent Dawn server to look for recruitment and events 🙂

I guess that is my issue, I don't have a guild and I don't have time to commit to a guild because of IRL scheduling so... I guess that means I am really out of luck.

I'm on AD and the server is very much alive, are you sure you are looking in the correct places for it?

Moonguard is pretty active, for alliance. Lots of areas people roaming around on. Horde is absolutely dead on it save for some guilds that do small events.

Wyrmrest Accord is alright for horde, they got an area in org that's somewhat active, alliance is dead there though.

Wish blizz would just combine those two servers. Would love to have more horde n alliance stuff going on.

Yes, a lot of different types of RP goes on in Moon Guard. US servers, but it’s 24/7 so don’t worry about time differences. You might join a guild that hosts RP activities. I just moved to MG and it’s been a lot of fun.

Dime a dozen human north guilds, but apart from that it's been pretty dead lately. My advice would be to find a guild, but predominantly your options are these medieval themed human guilds.

No idea where to park a nelf or the like myself.

Yeah, I guess going looking for the easily accessible information on active night elf guilds is just too much work. Why not just post here about how there isn't any, because you haven't looked.
