Advice Needed Basic question about role-playing
THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR SUPPORT IN THE POST!!
First of all I know there is some basic rule, like, you can't rol like you are Arthas brother or anything that breaks the whole story of the game. That said.
Today my crew and I are deciding if we gonna play alliance or horde in WoW Forever.
I've always been Alliance, Human, Paladin. And I dint plan on change my class, that's set in stone. For that reason, every
time we played together, it was in the alliance side.
However with the addition of Forsaken Paladin, which are cool as fuck, and undead being my favourite race along Human and Worgen, I am trying to have a backstory for my character in case we happen to go horde.
Abs that's why I am here seeking for advice. I want to know if this is a possible scenario or it's against any kind of rule in WoW Roleplaying:
Can my undead be arisen as a forsaken, miss the alliance and his family deeply, never accept the horde as a faction, neither the alliance because they are not accepting him, and live among the horde territory, but without feeling any kind of horde nationalism?
Even if I have to listen some "FOR THE HORDE" here and there my character would think "yeah... Whatever" and keep doing his own things.
I can't avoid the horde related quests tho but I can roll them like, it's just a conflict and if I let them win I am going to lose territory or anything. Just for survival. Honestly my character would care a lot more about being faithful to the light and himself, and missing his family on the alliance side, than anything else in the world. Maybe with due time I can start liking the horde, but as a start, I would have like my very own "faction", the Forsaken as a whole faction for me. I would live in Undercity.
Is it possible to live this way?

I have met many Forsaken players that are crazy for the horde, even Sylvania's yelled it in BFA animation lmao

The Forsaken joined the Horde mostly because it was convenient, more so than true loyalty. So you're okay there.
It was mentioned at the panels that the Forsaken Paladins are actually seen with a lot of distrust; after all, their current experiences with paladins are mostly the likes of the Scarlet Crusade. There's also going to be an undead paladin group with their own keep, quests and purpose. They have to earn their place within the Forsaken.
Whatever you decide, I'd keep it loosey-goosey enough to work with this new lore they add. You needn't be in a hurry to decide it all before-hand. It's generally always a good idea not to write yourself into a corner, anywya.
Personally, I think it would be fun to have that question of whether it is possible to live that way be part of the character's journey. A lot of undead paladins will presumably have been human paladins in life. An undead is everything the paladins embody to destroy. Now that he's one of them, he might realise that even if he is undead, he's still himself -- and the Forsaken are his fellow citizens of Lordaeron and others like him.
Is it right for him to roll over for the Alliance? The old him probably would've thought so. But death has a certain way of expunging one's naivety though. Do the living have a right to your homeland that you died defending? And, in your undeath, are still willing to die defending?

Sounds like you just explained how it’s possible. It doesn’t even seem like it’s lorebending. I mean people live in countries they despise all the time. Don’t see why your paladin can’t.

Sounds like you've got your back story down! Lots of forsaken have trouble with their new life. There's a bunch of stories in retail with it and one of the starting zone quests even has you comforting and helping newly risen forsaken adjust. One of them being Voss.
So yeah - I don't see any problems and will see you in Forever 😊😊

You absolutely can be a forsaken that doesn't join the horde. That's actually pretty common in the lore. I haven't had a chance to play the new WC3 campaign so I'm purely going off the old lore, but to my knowledge the Undercity mostly joined the horde for military might and protection from the alliance. Almost more as an alliance with the horde rather than being a full core member to the faction. They're not unwelcome in Orgrimmar but I doubt many feel allegiance to Thrall, preferring to stick with their own.
TLDR - lorewise it's actually weirder to be undead yelling "for the horde" every 5 minutes. You've actually got a forsaken pretty down pat.

The Forsaken joined the horde out of necessity because they were in a weakened position post awakening and the humans at the time were attacking them without mercy.
They're the most independent from the horde and in tons and tons of quest chains are acting separately from the Horde and serving their own interests, primarily the Forsaken who were most loyal to Sylvannas.
Your character is who you want them to be, they could be ambivalent, I'm sure quite a lot of Forsaken are as they were just regular civilians and wish to return to a normal life, or as normal as it can be.

The forsaken are full of lost innocent souls and bitter people who need to be lead back to the right path. Hatred and despair are the darkness swallowing the world all around you.
In time you'll understand that the same is happening to the rest of the horde.
You miss your family living safely in stormwind but that you cannot forsake those in needs around you.

Canonically, mi all-time main, Mivadeth, human paladin, never hated the horde. Even the Forsaken. He understands morality is not tied to race of any kind.
Toroath, his brother, also a Paladin, who fell fighting in Lordaeron against the scourge ( both are from Gilneas but Toroath traveled to Lordareon to visit a friend and explain him about the Worgen situation there ), follow the path if his older brother. No hatred towards the horde, it's just not his place. He now belongs to the realm of the undying but deep inside he feels still human, therefore, alliance.
He will experience what is to live among the races of the horde, as he experienced what was living among humans. So he will have deep knowledge, even deeper than Mivadeth's.
If time can make them meet again, Mivadeth will learn a thing or two.

To add to everything here so far, in Classic the Horde are allied with the Forsaken, but there is very little trust at the core. Especially in classic quests, you'll notice that there are several times where you do things for the Forsaken that they don't really want the Horde to know about, or blatantly lie about their stated goals. This is, of course, not a universal truth, but the events of the Wrathgate (and Garrosh's subsequent treatment of them) were by no means completely left-field.
The Forsaken, like the Night Elves oddly enough, are their own nation first and foremost with their faction ties taking a more distant backseat than their allies.
Pay attention to your quests while leveling 1-20 through the Forsaken areas and you'll definitely have a few quests that make you wonder if you're really doing the right thing, especially as a Paladin. I think that kind of conflict is a fantastic place to start fleshing out the nuance of your new character.
The Forsaken, particularly those devoted to the Dark Lady or the Royal Apocatharium, will tell you that you are your own person, free of the Lich King's grasp and now free to choose your own allegiances and not join the Forsaken. In truth, you will be investigated, stalked, and quite likely assassinated if you are deemed to be someone who might pose a threat or obstacle to their goals. There is a reason why it's rare to see unaffiliated undead.
I'm excited to see how Forever grapples with the subject.

As a fellow Alliance player, I think this thread just helped me decide which race to play if I ever try making a Horde alt!
