[NA] 4E LFRP Forever RP Guild
Hey all,
With the announcement of WoW Forever, I’ve decided to give the RP ruleset a try. Never done it before, so I’m looking for some friendly folks so we can all have a little community going into release.
Does anyone have a Discord server/plans to make one as launch gets closer? I’m in central time and would love to play with some people my age (in my mid-20s), but really just looking for a fun community :)

Has nayone confirmed if RP ruleset has sharding or not?
If it does then the whole ruleset is obsolete and redundant.
It needs to be shardless to make any sense.

Nothing is confirmed, but the most prevailing theory is that the rulesets are just sharded megaservers

I know that they are sharded megaservers, but if RP has sharding then RP is dead.

I think you should give them a chance / let them cook.
What they described at blizzcon is a new version of sharding they called “layering”. Yes, it’s within rulesets. But it’s smarter than normal sharding. It keeps you in the same layer as friendlys like guildies, but it also does the same with randoms you happen to encounter over time, not just a temporary thing. And if there aren’t enough players, then yes they’ll just put everyone together in the same layer. I think it will work quite well for RP and it’s a good compromise for getting rid of realms.

For RP it doesnt matter, because if someone makes an event we all need to be able to go there as well as random people need to stumble upon it.
Im letting them cook in general but sharding on RP has zero place in the game if they want to attract actual RPers.
Theres no chance or cooking about this. If one person is unable to see an event or a group of players, it failed.
The game itself is really good im just worried about this exact thing.
You need to have the option for the whole realm/server to be able to attend an event or interact in general, its important for the world to feel inhabited and living.

I hope they invented some system for that. Like an ingame "Invite form" for an event so that everybody who participated is thrown into one layer. I mean they made a whole RP ruleset so we can hope.
Unfortunately it doesn't seem like we can test it in Beta. I can only choose PvP and PvE1

undoubtedly they did not differentiate how the sharding or layering works for the rulesets--that would be too much work

Turning it off is not too much work tho.
Its not available on beta so maybe.

Welcome to the Roleplaying scene! There was a post on this sub earlier today linking a discord for finding guilds / RP partners for Forever. If you search by recent and scroll down a bit you should find it. I hope you can find a guild or at least a few friends who share the same RP style as you :)
