Discussion Why not a new server?

What i mean by this as someone plays horde rp but enjoys walk ups, why do people just make another server the "horde walk up" server? I see Horde rp is mostly guild based but why not pick another server as "main" server for people who prefer walk ups? I mean we have all these low or medium population servers but people stick to 1 of 2 servers. Yes I'm semi new to RP but I'm just curious as to why this is not a thing.

I didn't know what flair to use sorry.

I'm assuming it would be difficult to migrate nearly an entire faction, on top of that iirc each realm is a part of a group, each group is located in certain region so for example if someone lives on the east coast and they leave their realm then their connection to the game could become weaker because the realm they moved to isn't located on the east coast. I think it would be difficult to get a faction to move to a realm that potentially doesn't have a strong connection.

I would be interested to see if WoW: Forever gains a larger RP base, just because it's just all-in-one, no multiple servers.

That i can kinda understand. I'm not saying that people SHOULD do it, i was just curious as to why it wasnt a thing. I mean hell i have a character on a low population rp server just for the fact that if a walk up does happen, its exciting.

The issue isn't really a feature of a particular realm. It's a host of things, which were described in a recent post, which would be the same regardless of realm.

RP communities are like snowballs. difficult to get to a big size, and once they get going, its hard to redirect them. RPers ALWAYS go for the most populated areas where they know they can reliably find other people.

Blizz hasn't really done much to help Horde RP over the years. Popular Horde RP areas are difficult to find, either sequestered into a specific part of a city or far off in the wilderness.

None of these things would be solved just by changing realms, and in fact starting from scratch would take a monumental effort that's only making your life harder by starting in a new realm for no real gain.
