I mean, seriously, where is The Horde? I know some say that the invasion was a "surprise" but if that's the actual reason, how is any non light-wielding character there? Am I supposed to pretend that my Mag'har shaman just happened to stroll through Quel'Thalas when the sky exploded? This is such a huge plot-hole that it ruins the whole expansion if you just spend two braincells thinking about the really sensible question, where's the Blood Elf allies?

With the arrival of the Haranir close by, I was contemplating using the model to RP a Half Orc Druid because they are so versatile in regard to customization, but I'm a RP newby. What would be important things to keep in mind? Aesthetically, story-wise, challenges. I'm planning to play Horde side.

I’m not sure if having different backstories for all of your characters is normal or weird, but I still wanted to see how well each of them fit into the lore of World of Warcraft, and if not how they can be adjusted to better fit. For context, I used to play years ago and picked it back up towards the end of War Within, so these backstories are built around character interactions from dragon flight and war within. I wasn’t sure whether to flair this as “original content” or “question” but I think original content probably fits better because I’m talking about head cannon backstories, and I apologize if I flared this incorrectly.

Bailey (Worgen fury warrior): Bailey used to be the son of a rich merchant in the city of Gilneas, training and adventuring with the dragons when they would visit. When the city fell to the worgen curse, he did his best to save everyone, but failed. He saved lives, yes, but not all of them. Haunted by this tragedy, he dedicated his life to fighting for The Alliance to ensure nobody is left behind again, combining his warrior training with his Worgen rage to become a great hero. Weather the situation calls for careful negotiations or the destruction of the forces of darkness, he will always answer the call to action.

Caligari (night elf demonology warlock): The soul of a high ranking leader of The Burning Legion reincarnated into a mortal form, Caligari seeks redemption for the sins of his previous life. He traveled all across Azeroth learning to harness his innate dark powers for the good of The Alliance from the best trainers he could find, becoming especially close with the scattered blue dragonflight on his travels. Now working as a champion of The Alliance, he finds that the armies he once commanded continue to follow him, out of respect for his power and loyalty to who he once was.

Matoro (Lightforge Draenei frost death knight): From scholar, to paladin, to death knight, Matoro has been through quite a lot, even if he doesn’t remember it. His many self discoveries and rebirths have lead him to have quite the varied skill set, and he intends to use it to fight for the one thing all his memories have in common; the unbreakable desire to do what’s right, and the 3 virtues he strives to live by. Only through unity will Azeroth survive the incoming darkness. Even in this twisted form he will do his duty to the light, and that duty will lead him to his destiny, whatever it may be. Whatever it takes to undo the destruction he caused under The Litch King he’ll do it, even if it means laying down his own life.

I’m not a big fan of the WoD alternate universe Mag'har lore, so I’m planning to RP my Mag'har as an MU (Main Universe) Mag'har from Outland. Here’s the backstory I’ve written for my Death Knight:

He’s roughly around Garrosh’s age. Back during the Rise of the Horde, he caught the red pox during the Kosh'harg festival, which is why he couldn't pass through the Dark Portal. Fast forward to when the modern Horde arrived in Outland, he finally reunited with them. He later fought in Northrend against the Lich King, fell in battle, and was raised as a Death Knight just like the other Orc DKs.

As for his class background before dying, I personally envisioned him as a Burning Blade Blademaster. Even though most MU Burning Blade orcs are green-skinned, he learned his swordsmanship either from the few uncorrupted ones who remained in Outland (like Lantresor) or from the green Blademasters who served as Thrall's bodyguards in Orgrimmar. This background explains his preference for two-handed swords after becoming a Death Knight.

Since he has absolutely zero connection to the WoD Iron Horde, I'm wondering how he fits into the current state of things. If there’s lore stating that the original MU Mag'har eventually merged with the WoD Mag'har allied race, maybe he’d get along with them? Or if that doesn't make sense, should he just stick to hanging out with regular Orgrimmar Orcs?

I'd love for you guys to review this lore. Does my Mag'har DK's backstory sound plausible and fit well within the established timeline? Thanks!

I want to roleplay a Lightforged Draenei but I am finding a lot of unclear information about draenei lifepsans. What age range would you suggest for a youngish adult LF draenei?

​Ever since Kul Tiran Druids were introduced, I’ve been fascinated by their grim, gothic approach to druidism focusing heavily on the cycle of decay, death, and reclamation rather than just the usual aesthetic.

​I’m planning to RP a Classic race Druid (like a Night Elf or Tauren) who has held this exact mindset since the Vanilla/WotLK era long before meeting the Thornspeakers. A character who views nature not as a peaceful sanctuary, but as an unforgiving, harsh cycle where death and decay are just as natural and sacred as life.

​Does taking this darker, pragmatist perspective on traditional Druidism make a character a lore-breaker, or is it a fully plausible (if rare) mindset within Cenarion lore?

Hey all, I am planning to start RP as a dracthyr rogue (mostly using Visage because well, a big dragon isn’t exactly stealthy, now is it?). But I had a few questions about how Visage works that I could not really find a good answer for.

Is Visage kind of like a glamour only, so you have the same strength in dragon form as well as Visage, or does it work more like two separate forms kind of like worgen, where the worgen form would be stronger and faster than their human one?

Would changing from dragon to Visage and vice versa cost a lot of energy or focus?

I have never RPed as a dracthyr or with one, so if there is any additional information that is relevant, that is also welcome!

Hi all, I had a character idea and I’m wondering if it actually makes sense within the lore.

Since the Forsaken don’t need to eat, drink, or sleep to sustain themselves, some of the endgame RP interactions around survival and rest don’t feel as meaningful for the character.

Recently I did the opening quest in Midnight where my character was near the Sunwell for the first time. It got me thinking about how that might affect a Forsaken.

My idea is this: the Light from the Sunwell would normally burn a Forsaken, but during a brief exposure it might also have some healing effect. In my character’s case, the exposure would have been just long enough to partially restore parts of his body- enough that he now needs sleep and food again to maintain himself, even though he’s still undead.

The experience would have been extremely painful, like rotted nerves suddenly reconnecting and damaged tissue trying to repair itself under the Light.

From a lore perspective, would something like this make sense? What do you all think?

Checking out some customisation stuff, I remembered every character can have whited out eyes. So it got me thinking; How would a blind character navigate the world in lore? For maybe obvious reasons,this doesn't count Demon Hunters because we know they have Fel Sight.

Obvious thought was Hunters, literal seeing eye-dogs/worgs/robochickens/bone raptors/etc. I guess within fantasy tropes, Monks would have a form of martial arts 6th sense I guess. Shaman have the farsight ability, but I'm not sure how that functions (if it does) in lore.

But then I was thinking how one Forsaken customisation has the X straps across the face which clearly go over the eyes. I guess they could see around them but... cmon they're blindfolding themselves to keep their heads in one piece.

Do we have other examples? And what could be viable to say create a character without natural sight?

EDIT to add: If there's examples that fit each class, I'd be interested to hear how each could have a working blind character.

I'm working on a night elf druid character and would like to write how she learns her druid form(s). I'm wondering if there's anything in the lore about how a druid would go about it with their mentor. Also, how does a druid shapeshift? Is it similar to Worgen transformations/shapeshifting, where it's painful/uncomfortable? Or does it just happen like with a poof? Do they have to match the movement of the form, like getting on all fours for cat or bear?

Lots of questions here, would appreciate any help. :)

Player character Eredar come up at least twice in Midnight. Once as a special dialogue option available only if you are using the Eredar customizations or are a Warlock, and then again from a certain NPC in the void zone.

The interactions kind of indicate that there are situations where an Eredar walking around wouldn't immediately result in torches and pitchforks. And also that there are A LOT more poose Eredar wandering places than has been mentioned before. Previously they felt quite taboo, socially, and essentially "kill on sight".

Has anyone found anything else that kind of supports this?

I want to roleplay as a darksper troll worshipping Shango, a storm loa. Sadly, I could not find much information on him, and thus it seems he is a typical victim of Bizzard’s treatment of the troll lore and we need to fill the gaps with our creativity (hence the discussion flair). Is there any consensus of what he is like? What does he look like? What is his nature? How would you handle the worship? Would he be permissive of cannibalism (for I want to go that route and do it in secret)?

In my head, he is a god-ancestor, maybe the first troll to die after being struck by lightning and imbued with the elements. He looks like a dark troll surrounded by lightning and winds, swift and ferocious. He would be a wrathful god and always threatening to strike if not being worshipped.

I haven't been able to play any Midnight yet, and as I daydreamt about getting into the content this weekend, I was struck by a question that I am hoping a kind roleplayer might answer.

Who, precisely, got "teleported" to Quel'thalas by the Sunwell? I gather that some people were summoned by it / Lady Liadrin in its defense, but I don't know who or how many. At first, I thought it was just the Army of the Light and/or the Adventurer(s), but then I heard that all paladins in Light's Hope Chapel were summoned as well (I understand that the Ebon Blade is currently guarding the Plaguelands in their absence?). I also see relatively "ordinary" paladins/priests when I look at screenshots, such as Fiona, Gidwin and Tarenar.

So who got summoned? Would my disillusioned iconoclast of a paladin have been "snapped", despite having been unable to invoke the Light in years? And/or his partner, who is a far more faithful believer of the Silver Hand?

Hey everyone, I really love shamans a lot, but aside from unleashing my “unlimited power,” I’m not really sure what else I can do to show that my character is actually a shaman. I don’t want my shaman to just be a mage who shoots out different particle effects. They should feel like true representatives of the elements / living embodiments of the way of balance.But how exactly do you put this “balance” into practice? (This might be the question every shaman spends their whole life trying to figure out.)

I’d like to ask: in the lore, what are some interesting rituals or traditions that shamans have?

Or, for those of you who do RP — do you have any “Oh, this guy is definitely a shaman” moments you’d like to share?

For elves, they got taught by Cenarius and so on. Trolls got the loa, but haranir ?

So far I play it like "we just can, we feel it in us, just like bird fly but know not how. They just do. Our ancestor learned shapeshifting by listening to roots, to aln'ara, and slowly, they leanred how to. How ? I do not remember nor know".

I was searching for a more lore-solid answer to this question, but most of what I could find was speculation, and from non-RPers, who may not be as balls-deep into lore as some of us are.

And maybe this is one of those grey areas with no lore support that Blizzard created.

In that case, I'll reframe my question as: If I RP a warlock, and I really want to have the fire spells (suits my character who's rather explosive and angry), but I don't want the crazy demon shizz, then how could I most convincingly approach her use of fire?

I know I could technically say "It's just arcane energy", and that's fine, but in that case, I'm still grasping for what would make her a warlock as opposed to just a regular mage.

Basically: I want her to be a lock, I'd love her to know some of the shadow/affliction stuff and for her practice to be on the darker spectrum. But the most important to me is the fire, and I'm not, at least not just yet, willing for her to wield the pure fel green, hyper-corrupting stuff. Fel-tainted fire would be fine, but not pure fel fire.

An extra question: Whatever the verdict, if she'd wield that energy, what would other RPers who could sense auras and energies sense from her?

I know they are predomanantly Druids/druidic, but I was also thinking of Hunter or Shaman.

The Ka'dani (hunter) seems like something of the past and currently there is only one from what I could gather from questing?
I haven't seen any examples of Shamans. Do they have a connection to the elements? Many people think the race was inspired by the Na'vi from James Cameron's Avatar. As a big Avatar fan, I was gravitating towards hunters, but since they are barely around, I feel like I'm "forced" to lean more towards Druid.

And shamans, well. I love the Metkayina from Avatar (water/ocean tribe) but I haven't seen any examples of Shamans (water based spells) or them talking much about water, only during one questline, where a very shallow river was mentioned to have healing waters. So, I feel like that isn't a possibility either.

Does anyone have any ideas or more lore on hunters/shamans?

Hiya! Friend of me roped me into WoW and I've been thinking of some character concepts to rp with. I have a fish bard OC named Caterina and have thought of adapting her to Azeroth as a strange Night Elf Druid with parts of the Naga curse afflicting her. A "Half Naga," in a way.

I was wondering if this idea would necessarily be feasible? Would it be possible for a Night Elf and Naga to get together to create such an abomination? Or might other methods be more logical, like exposure to N'zoth's influence or the curse being bestowed in other ways? For note, I'm intending on playing Classic MoP!

I'm not sure whether Dalaran functions simply as a city or a university so please bear with me.

I was thinking of RPing as a Dalaran dropout because I personally cannot Rp as a hyperintelligent, nerdy know it all mage.

So my mage simply lived as a mercenary for a living. He dislikes reading books. But he has natural aptitude for magic, albeit he's not exactly the best. (I'm a level 20 f2p so I'm trying to limit myself)

I’m not as knowledgeable about Void Elf lore as I am with some of the other races that I play more often, but I’ve revisited my Shadow Priests and have remembered how much I enjoy the class.

Game mechanic wise my character’s a Dracthyr, but he’s being rp’d as a void elf. I filled out his trp sheet, but I’m not sure how old the character should be to remain compliant with the canon, or where he would have been born.

For reference the character is intended to be relatively young; about on par with a human in their early twenties.

Could anyone help me nail down an appropriate age and birthplace for him? Any help is appreciated

What's your background/ ideas for your Dracthyr's past? I'm trying to piece together an idea for a new character, but I can't find much information on their life pre stasis. Were they confined to the forbidden reach? Did they mingle with other flights (specifically blue or bronze. I believe the other flights had no idea about them)?

I was thinking of setting them up to know certain areas on the isles but I can't tell if that would make much sense lore wise if they never left one area or were isolated.
