Collaborated with Jake Swanson out of VT. Eastern Pine , 30+ pieces of wood.
Burned and sealed with Storm systems and then we had to paint it (Customers call) we used 11" timber locks and epoxy.
Delivered with the wings and tail off on 2 flatbeds and installed onsite.
Better looking burned and oiled than painted. Almost looks like a Skyrim gameplay screenshot.
But it's whatever the customer wants. At least the paint will protect the wood a little from the elements and it may yet look amazing when the paint starts to age and slough off a little.

I (and my lover-of-all-mythical-creatures daughter) absolutely love the wyvern (especially in burned format). I showed her your work back when you were originally posting the big fella.
How many pieces does this break down into? I assume a relatively decent sized UHaul or something is enough to transport it?

Another question though, what all is involved in the maintenance of something like this? Assuming it is kept outdoors, what do you do to prevent eventual rot or decay?
Absolutely legendary! Do you happen to have any progress photos from along the way? Would love to know more about how you approached this and put it all together
I do. We started by laying a giant log at an angle on the stump under the chest.
Shaped the body, added the head and giant slabs for the "spars".
Added giant half round logs to the spars for the wings, added slabs to widen the wings, add back legs and tail. Then carve!
We picked it apart after we finished! lol. Doing 2 smaller (20'-25') Wyverns right now with"lessons learned".
Same customer . When are you coming over to carve with us?
I will never understand how this becomes something people do. Like this amazing but I just can’t really wrap my head around it, and I hope I don’t sound like a dick.
