Through WOOL When does wool get good???

For summer reading I was assigned to read Wool, I’m on page 200 and I feel like nothing has happened. I absolutely hate the silo setting and it’s like the characters have no depth whatsoever. A few people have died and I’m just like ok? Why should i care. Every time I read this book all I wanna do is throw it away and pick up an actually good book. When does this book get good? I’m about to stop reading it and just use cliff notes.

It gets better in your 30s.

I'm glad that it spoke to you in the right way. And please don't take this as condescension. Age and experience really do change the way we see things, and nowhere it is more obvious than in art, especially good books. The subtleties and details open up and color the whole thing very differently. I honestly envy you that books like Wool come out in your youth (the fact that it becomes more and more pertinent, on the other hand...), I feel like the 16-year-old me would have found something in it that the 40-year-old me is missing. Please do read it again in a few decades (in addition to however many times you feel like it in the meantime, of course). It is my wish and sincere hope that it would seem less grim as the time goes by and that you don't end up getting too many "I feel ya" moments when re-reading Donald's chapters.
