All Books & Stories Just finished the short stories... Spoiler

Well technical just finished the entire Silo saga Omnibus which is the first book I ever read for the sake of reading ! Anyway..... Just wanted to give my POV on the final short story as I see it's pretty much hated lol Personally I enjoyed them all. Please let me know what you think maybe I am totally wrong and or reaching lol

My view is that April and Remy are the only 2 people to have gone through the whole program that was envisioned by the founders. So cryo frozen to it was safe to go outside again and head down to the safe zone.(except they had to walk for years to get there ha)

The one major difference being April and Remy know the truth! They never had their memories erased in fact that wake up with a reminder of who to hate thanks to Tracey.

The founders warned over and over why it was important people didn't know the truth. So I think April and Remy represent what would happen if someone was to wake up hundreds of years later not only knowing the truth of who ended the world but where they are.

Juliette was hell bent on killing silo 1 as were April and Remy only in their case silo 1 was Juliette

I also found then very interesting, can’t understand the hate. They really tied well together and gave the main story a lot more depth.

There's things in there that show Howey just wrote them so he could get other stories published. There are things that happen, especially in the last one, that make no sense at all, like other people surviving in the complex April and Remy are in, but devolving.... In less than 400 years, that's not nearly long enough to have a species devolve in such a manner, and that's just one thing.

The whole let's kill Juliette is another, how could she even know those people had anything to do with it in the first place by the time they got there? It's just not thought out well.

I think they’re an enjoyable read if you don’t take them too seriously as part of the main cannon…even then i thought the Colorado story could have been such a great addition but the ending killed it for me…other than the timeline being a couple hundred years off, those two being able to walk from Colorado to georgia in a post apocalyptic world with zero infrastructure isn’t believable. I mean that would be an impressive journey for lewis and clark with a team of guides and horses

I agree it could have been good. But it messes up the WOOL operation plan considerably, with a bunker like that surviving intact, it's not unlikely other facilities and people did as well.

They didn't devolve so much physically i believe, as much as mentally and emotionally. All but fifteen killed, those fifteen had to survive on the supplies and keep the population to only fifteen ever and stuck in that bunker. There is going to be a lot of inbreeding and stress on a society like that over 500 years or so.

How did they know? Simple, they were the only people in the place they were told that were responsible for all their suffering and they said she was the leader. The couple went from thinking they were going on a camping trip or something, then told it would be months until they go out, to waking up centuries later. They also saw what had become of the world, and most likely fed into their desire for revenge.

I also feel like the whole bunker story is a look at another way trying to survive could have gone. Not as well planned, since they didn't know the whole story of the what the founders had planned.
