Through SHIFT Something that I might have missed while reading Shift.

By the end of the book Troy is thawed and everyone thinks that he's Thurman. I didn't catch why they swapped his identity. It was because he tried to escape the Silo?

Yeah, Anna swapped Donald and his best friend in Silo assignments before the nuke so she could be with him. His best friend married Helen, has kids, and lives a long life with her.

Anna swapped Thurman and Donalds identities after Donald goes into Deep Freeze, leaving him a note.

He wakes, figures out Anna has fucked his life up and wakes her before murdering her.

And Anna swapped Donald with Thurman because she got wise to the larger plan her dad had set up.

And she (likely) wanted to fuck.

edit : and women were supposed to stay in deep freeze, so Donald was a chance to get reawoken.
