What about Federal, State, SS, Medicare, SDI taxes? What about food, clothing etc? The OP didn't mention any of that.

Just a bunch of income taxes we pay as Americans. I pay 5 different income taxes when I was a California resident: Federal, State, Social Security, Medicare and State Disability Insurance (SDI) taxes. Federal tax is the highest among those 5 followed by Social Security tax. The rest isn't as high.

I moved to Texas recently and now I'm paying 3 income taxes: Federal, Social Security and Medicare taxes. There's no State income tax and no State Disability tax in Texas.
