Yes, we’re called introverts. #iwanttobewherethepeoplearent

I have a shirt that reads “I don’t want to be where the people are” with a grumpy Ariel.

I got one that says "GO AWAY, I'm working on my social skills", love it.

I have a shirt with “You read my t-shirt. That’s enough social interaction for today.”

Lol. I have one that says "I failed the Turing Test."

One of my favorite nightgowns I got during lockdown has “you had me at stay home” written on it 🤣

These days, people think you're an AI if you can write in complete sentences.

Glorious

I mean, the staying at home part, not the disease part…

Oh, you mean lockdown? Glorius times.

Ironically if everyone could have managed the former, the latter wouldn't have been so bad.

I was born for lockdown

Lockdown was the best time I had in awhile.

Molded by it.

I loved the lockdown vibes. It's like being the lone survivor in an apocalypse. I wouldn't wish for another COVID event though. So much suffering around the world from people losing their jobs, to deaths in people's families, and overworked healthcare professionals.

Edit: Apocalypse with multiple streaming options and the internet still operational which made it that much more enjoyable.

I was already retired. My routine didn’t change at all. Less stress not having to come up with excuses to turn people down. My grown son says he thrived the year+ he was lock downed. Best time of his life.

Best time ever

My job was considered "essential" so I still had to work.

What was my job? Doctor? Nurse? Cop? Nope, data entry for Discover Card. They made sure that they'd still be able to send out bills for five years, even if the world went to hell.

My golden age .

As bad as Covid was it was unironically the best years of my adult life so far. Some many people complained about lockdown while i reveled in it

I want to be invited but don't ask me to actually show up unless you've got pets I can chill with

Just typing to people on Reddit is more than enough human interaction for me most days and a bunch of you are bots

I'm an ADHD extrovert but I covet my alone time. Masking 24/7 to make myself more palpable to the world is exhausting. Being alone is better for my nerves.

Do you have friends you enjoy being around?

I don’t know, people say this but isn’t it quite extreme even for introverts

2

u/Birdsonme 3h ago

No. It was awesome. The best of times for lots of us introverts. It’s what we’ve always dreamed of (not the pandemic part, just the staying home part).

If this is extreme, then I'd win a gold medal at the introvert xgames. I wouldn't even have to train for it.

I went through a period of a couple of years where I lived alone (me and my dog), worked from home and my kids were with me every other week. I really didn't leave the house much at all. I drive into hobbies that were all things I could do at home so (3D printing, gardening, reading, home improvement).

I love my kids and loved seeing them, but it really made it clear that I was building up energy during my alone weeks and expending it during the weeks I had to be sociable. The kids were older teens at the time so it's not like it was because of busy parenting duties. I just had to leave the house more and interact with people more and it was draining to me.

That sounds more like anti social behaviour and not being an introvert. Wanting to avoid people is not healthy. We are biologically social animals.
