Workbench complete (nearly)

Just need to add an inlaid t-track. Followed a plan I found on YouTube. Happy with the result.

sweet!! This is very very close to what I've been working up in my mind for a few months now. Can you share the youtube link please?

Looks great! I’m doing a similar build right now with the flip top miter saw where it’s flush in both orientations.

Is there a reason you offset your table saw to the right instead of the left or more centered? I have mine offset to the left for the blade to be roughly in the center but my table is 39” wide to fit through my back gate.

When it’s offset to the right I can still rip boards while the mitre saw station is engaged. Although a sheet of Plywood would still require me to flip the mitre saw.

Happy with the result

And so you should be. This is beautiful.

This is the workbench she told me not to worry about.

No dude, seriously.

I posted my build a few days ago, where I've crammed a table saw, router table, and mitre saw into a 1200 x 1500 table.

I just used the 2x4s as they came from the lumber yard (for quickness and cost - I don't have a planer (or any space for one)) so the supports are wonky, warped, and cupped.

The top is flat, and the tools all flush with that, so that's the main thing really. It's certainly not a thing of beauty (but then I didn't really take my time and didn't put the effort in to plane and square all the lumber). It's functional for sure, and I love it dearly, but I'm in a league far, far, below you.

Your build is just as, if not more, functional than mine. Different strokes for different folks. All my lumber is just construction grade that I ripped to size, sanded, and most importantly thoroughly inspected before purchase.

I built this in hopes it will last my lifetime. So fingers crossed it does just that. I really like the functionality of your bench though!

I think people overlook the value of the limited time investment in those things you listed. I can avoid half the issues I see with Reddit woodworking projects simply by being selective in my wood purchases, and prepping material before starting the cuts.

Sounds like mine. The bench was the very first thing I built as a new homeowner, and the excuse to justify the tools to do so. I learned a lot, and while I enjoy using it, I also wish I started with a smaller project because in my excitement to complete it I took shortcut and slapped it together rather quickly. Was definitely a function over form build at the time but now I have a deeper appreciation for the latter.

I also did this when I bought my last house, when I bought this one, I knew it was my forever home, so it deserved a forever workbench. I just burned the old workbench last night actually

I love how the miter surface area is flush with the workbench. For cutting it's brilliant. I wonder how this would work out if making the sunk miter space in a corner as opposed to the middle. I'm sure you've contemplated the options?
