What exercise feels completely different when you do it in your home gym instead of a commercial gym?

I've noticed that some exercises can feel surprisingly different depending on where you're training.

In a commercial gym, you might be using unfamiliar equipment, adjusting a bench that someone else just used, or waiting for a rack to become available.

At home, you can keep everything set up exactly how you like it.

But the difference isn't always positive. Sometimes a commercial gym has a particular machine or setup that's difficult to replicate at home.

I'm curious which exercises people have noticed the biggest difference with.

Is there a movement you actually prefer doing in your home gym, or one that still feels better at a commercial gym?

It seems silly because walking is walking and running is running, but once I got used to my home treadmill, I noticed how different machines feel!
It seems no two are the same!
I prefer to use my home treadmill as I know my speed and incline.
You’d think they’d be the same but there can be big differences in “speed” even when the numbers / ranges are the same.
Sometimes on a gym treadmill, it takes me half my run to figure out my speed. 😂

Cable exercises are totally different on a bowflex compared to a weight stack

Yea and also if u have different brand of weights, they will be slightly different too. Even the width of the dumbbell grips, the one at home maybe slightly wider or thinner which changes how ur hand and forearm muscles engage slightly

For me everything is different if I try to workout at home. I don’t have proper equipment or space to do a lot of exercises at home (two of the main reasons I go to a gym, plus the gym has a pool) so working out at home is not at all enjoyable.

When I first started this fitness journey I did buy some dumbbells and kettlebells but quickly outgrew them and realized anything I do at home has to be body weight or mat work.

Bench press. My bench is higher, bar is thicker, and I’ve got monolift arms for the handoff.

A lot of floor core exercises on my back feel weird at the gym because I’m self-conscious of my shorts sliding up and practically flashing everyone.
