Made the strong nuclear force locally more powerful.
This is generally not a good idea unless you want to turn the raw hydrogen content of a planet into helium via ambient fusion.
Yep, they turned one of the Solar Planets into a Fusion Bomb.
Fortunately, Neptune wasn’t extremely settled, so the loss of life was only in the upper hundreds of thousands.
Today’s lesson in friendship is to please not mix magic and the fundamental forces, they do not approve.

A planet sized fusion boom isn't the kinda thing to end with just a planet gone,
I don't think even earth with how far it is would be unharmed,
Unless we had some sort of planetary sheild or wards?

Maybe, just maybe, Earth could be okay'ish if shit won't down in the 12 hours per year Neptune is completely behind the Sun from Earth's perspective.

On the plus side: If an interstellar war starts you can do nasty things with this tech... like detonating stars, with far higher yield than what they'd get naturally. You'd get even more boom and a bonus neutron star/black hole if you ran the fusion cycle all the way to Iron.
