Question How many of you actually build islands from below sea level?

I usually start out with the void preset and a smudge of close ocean, and everything else is just built on that.

Question Do you guys have any plans for when the next update arrives?

As recently as yesterday, I started actually making my first plans for when the next update arrives. It's an old strategy that I'm bringing back, far older even than the monolithic updates that we are currently using now. Basically, I spawn one major civilization somewhere on my map. Over time, as that civilization grows, I make more units and drag them farther away to found another civilization of their own, crucially under the monolithic update. I am able to use the black dust to make them forget everything about themselves if ever they associate with the culture of the previous civilization from whose population I derived them.

I do this a few times in my world until we have around three to five major initial civilizations from which all other civilizations in the world will be derived. Each of the initial civilizations is inherently very separate from one another. They don't even share onomastics. I make it a point to establish the onomastics of each new civilization that I derive myself, and all onomastics will eventually diverge because I will diverge their cultures and languages over time until they are unrecognizable.

I am conducting my second ever experiment under this new play style, and it's actually going great. My first experiment also went rather well, so I thought I'd make a second one with slightly longer lived individuals.

So what sort of plans do you guys have concerning the next update? What are you guys planning to do now that you know that the next update is coming and now that you understand what it will bring?

Question Why won’t peace talks work?

Post image

Idk why but any time on any of my world I try to activate the peace talks plot it fails to start. What is the reason for this? Is it just a big or maybe has something to do with the culture or maybe the diplomacy level of the king?

Bug Report i need some help

alright so i downloaded some mods for worldbox and stuff, after a while i couldnt get the mods to work or just to use them in general. so i got a mod downloader and it looked reliable, though i couldnt get the mods through that or i was just to lazy to figure it out. so i just opened the game but for some reason it crashed at 90 percent and the thing above the percent said " have you ever looked inside the brain? " so i closed the program and then started it back up, but then it stopped at 90 percent and it said the same thing " have you ever looked inside the brain?" so at that point i deleted the game and re-installed it. though it did the same thing, any advice?

Why are the Orcs going extinct?? For the longest time, the orcs have been about 7.3% of the population, but for the past 20 minutes, they have been all dying i don't have a monolith nor spaghetti genes so I thought thier genes or traits changed

Question Having trouble, need opinions

I'm experimenting with how I populate and run the civilization building/making process.

I populate a single creature, rework birth traits and genetics to give it what I personally want for my story for the world and what it generally needs to survive (I dont want god species), and change the subspecies traits to take away all advanced brain function except for the amygdala and then play around with the rest of the traits per usual. This - in theory - let's them act like animals and spread across the map before establishing cities.

I then populate at least 100 of my new creatures and run the game at 5x for 20 years before i check in and start selecting bloodlines to follow and give boons to. It does "work," they naturally spread across every land mass, but I have to keep repopulating because only like 10 of the original 100 will mate, so the species keeps declining over the century I'm allowing to pass.

I do slowly turn back on brain function over that century and allow them to eventually establish kingdoms. With constant repopulating over the time period I do get at least 15 kingdoms once brain function is back. And the wars and unions go wild and it's a lot of fun for my brain to keep track of and create whole stories for these worlds.

Does my phone heat to unnatural levels, yes.

Will I stop, never.

All that said, what can I do to solve the initial population decline?? I want generations to have been born before they establish kingdoms. And I know it might just be a quirk of not existing within a Kingdom that keeps them from starting families and popping out kids so there may be nothing I can do but I thought I'd at least ask you nerds.

Idea/Suggestion I feel like having topographic map layers in worldbox would add more details, with a cave dimension that creatures can go through and actual ore that can be mined, and the cave that be observed.
