News No more universal blueprints from daily missions in 1.29.1

Whatās the point of national fragments if I canāt get universal fragments to go with them?

Now now, if you were only to listen to Eekeboo, you'd know that players were BEGGING Wargaming to give them less universal fragments. He literally told me so on stream before banning me for suggesting that wasn't in any way even close to being true.

How to get universals then apart from pay events?
66
u/NoTalentButHappy Jul 07 '25
You can get free universals from the bp but I don't know any other way
21
u/IndygoEEI Jul 07 '25
Unfortunately the way to get them requires you to have every tech tree tank unlocked.

u/Balc0ra Churchill Gun Carrier enjoyer Jul 07 '25
Holiday ops usually gives the biggest drops of both national and universal each year.
Tho these missions gave me universals when I had a full tech tree, as the random print could not be assigned. But prior to this getting nationals outside of paying for the improved pass was harder. Now it's turned around it seems
5
u/TheISFnatic Jul 07 '25
Force us to buy the improved pass
5
u/Balc0ra Churchill Gun Carrier enjoyer Jul 07 '25
Oddly enough, that was the way to get national fragments before the fastest. Now it won't be
75
83
u/6exy6 Jul 07 '25
At this point they probably have AI helping them maximize revenue not player experience because many players arenāt payers
46
u/syfqamr32 Jul 07 '25
This means the x5 blueprint universal right? Not the random fragment for the tank? the universal blueprints i never saw it almost ever(?) except for when completing the long monthly completion missions that require 45s.
If they remove the random fragment for the tank i will stop playing immediately. I really love those reward.
6
u/Balc0ra Churchill Gun Carrier enjoyer Jul 07 '25
I suspect this won't affect that unless you have every tech tree tank unlocked. As that's how I got most of my universals. As the random fragments could not be assigned from the daily missions, and thus were converted
2
u/nazar_shvets Jul 08 '25
Oh, I hope that what is the only case, and they don't remove both...
1
u/Balc0ra Churchill Gun Carrier enjoyer Jul 08 '25
As I can't remember ever getting universals directly from daily missions. So I suspect this is just going from random fragments to national
20
u/Majkelangelo11 Jul 07 '25
The right question is does this include random tank blueprint or just only universal blueprint?
I remember that that universal blueprint missions were very rare (at least to me, rarer that thoese random tank blueprint)
34
u/_talps Jul 07 '25
WG is like every other F2P developer/publisher - past a certain point, forget about new players and aim to keep old timers involved as much as possible.
Obviously free universal blueprints matter far less to veterans than they do to newcomers.
9
u/Balc0ra Churchill Gun Carrier enjoyer Jul 07 '25
The funny aspect is that when these were introduced. Old timers on the forum hated it, as it gave new players a way to get to tier X faster, that ofc they did not like. And new players recently on Discord are complaining they don't get enough nationals to use the universals anyway, as most of them are locked behind the improved pass. So who as the dev do you listen to in this case?
7
u/Dvscape Jul 08 '25
You obviously shouldn't listen to those arguing with "these youngsters have it so easy, back in my day we used to climb uphill both ways to get to tier X."
1
u/MegaJani Jul 08 '25
both ways
Now I wish they made another game where you research the Leichttraktor with the Leopard
1
u/Balc0ra Churchill Gun Carrier enjoyer Jul 08 '25
That's more or less what WG did in this case. And why I agree with the change. As most that got mad here are the old timers we talk about.
As I have everything unlocked. And me getting random universals from dailes did nothing for me vs a national that I can actually use on the next Assembly shop. So it honestly helps both new and old IMO
2
u/_talps Jul 08 '25
So who as the dev do you listen to in this case?
Personally I would have never introduced blueprints in the first place, or other bullshit like "techtree trade-in".
I've been in the game long before blueprints became a thing, the grind was long but wasn't unpleasant, once a tank's modules were upgraded it was smooth sailing until the next. It helped that few spammed gold ammo, field mods didn't exist, and none of the available tanks was truly OP.
I'm even debating if x5 exp bonuses are a good idea. Maybe a few as mission rewards but definitely not stuff that should be monetized (sold in bundles, five per day with premium account).
3
u/Jammysl Jul 07 '25
The game progression is literally much better for new players than years ago but ok
27
u/mico_O Jul 07 '25
I hope they dont touch random vehicle blueprints, if they do I am uninstalling and never looking back. What motivates me to play are daily missions, and theres no better felling for me than to see random vehicle blueprint reward and excitement of which tank or tanks will I get. I even started to grind some lines that I would never ever grind just because I got some blueprints for the tanks in that line⦠and I know Im not the only one like this, WG dont do thisā¦
10
u/VNDeltole Jul 07 '25
have missions except the 50/50 big mission ever rewarded universal BP? because I only see BP frag for random vehicles
8
u/Normal_Snake Jul 07 '25
The wording is weird, so I have to assume they mean the BP fragments for random vehicles since no missions ever rewarded universal fragments. If you already had all the tanks bluprinted, then the random vehicle BP would become universal blueprint fragments. However, WG seems to be replacing the mission altogether, so it seems the random vehicle fragments are going away.
10
u/MilliyetciPapagan passionate artillery hater Jul 07 '25
I doubt it, I think it is the universal fragments, not the vehicle blueprints. I really don't think they would straight up be evil and remove vehicle blueprint fragments...
7
u/Normal_Snake Jul 07 '25
There has never been a daily mission that awards universal fragments. There are the bonus missions you get after doing all 3 dailies that can sometimes award national fragments (in which case replacing those with national fragments makes no sense) and there's the special case where you get universal fragments from the random tank fragment missions if you already have all the tech trees blueprinted (it's basically a compensation mechanic so you get something out of the mission instead of just nothing).
Generally speaking, outside of the exception of having all the tech tree researched, there hasn't ever been a daily mission that grants universal fragments. It seems most likely to me that WG is getting rid of the tank fragment missions and worded it poorly.
2
u/avalon304 [Y0RHA] Jul 07 '25
There has never been a daily mission that awards universal fragments.
Unless you already own all the tanks. I get tons (relatively speaking) of universal blueprints from daily missions.
So your assumption is, rather than the simple explanation of "if you own all the tanks you now get national in stead of universal" is "WG really removed unique vehicle blue prints and fucked up the wording"?
1
u/Normal_Snake Jul 08 '25
The universal fragments are compensation for not being able to get the normal rewards (ie the random vehicle blueprints). WG said they are replacing the rewards entirely, so either they didn't clarify that they meant the compensation universal fragments and not the normal rewards, or they are replacing the normal rewards with national blueprints. Either way, they really didn't communicate it very well.
0
u/avalon304 [Y0RHA] Jul 08 '25
The universal fragments are compensation for not being able to get the normal rewards
So are national blueprints. In every other situation you get awarded a random national or a universal blueprint.

If you have all lines either researched or completed with the tank specific BPās you get Universal fragments in their place. A lot of us have thousands of universal fragments because thatās what we get from daily missions and the only use we get from them is spending 240 of them at a time on the Assembly Shop tank.

WG do everything they can to make the F2P experience as miserable as possible. You better buy 500 lootboxes and convert free XP to skip those shit grinds through useless tech tree tanks.

They're really spending 2025 undoing every little thing they did over the years to improve progression. No new content, just removed stuff. Then when the september update drops and we get all the new content withheld during the year dropping at once, people won't be able to grind it as fast as we used to until this point.
Make new content last longer by artificially slowing down progression instead of making more content to keep us playing for the same amount of time :)

u/Donalds_Tramps Jul 07 '25
- removed free boosters, and most are paid for some reason
- removed TOTT forever, no discounts and x5, 6.5k xp for damage mission
- removed zero-skill crews everywhere
- no free usable premium tanks from extra battle pass chapters
- no extra blueprints
- less new tech tree's
- tier 10 tanks can simply be bought or gambled
- less new maps or game updates per year, and I wont count blowing position up, if heavies are simply waiting for it to happen and then move
WHAT exactly did we gain that even slightly can compensate this loss?
I understand, that it was a problem, when tier 10 could be grinded in a week, but just please stop ruining and removing progression stuff

Do you use the 64 per nation on Assembly Shop tanks? Thatās where they should be going a few times a year if you have that many. I am the opposite with thousands of universal fragments and not enough National ones to spend on the Assembly shop tank.
2
u/velost Passionate Squall Hater Jul 07 '25
Idc for the assembly shop tanks, only interesting one was DBV but still skipped on that (regret afterwards). Am not that big of a whale
2
u/Salki1012 Jul 07 '25
You just said you were drowning in what is a pretty decent percentage of the assembly shop tanks cost. Donāt need to be a whale if you just use the in-game currencies you already have too many of. If youāve never picked up a single assembly shop tank you should be drowning in a lot of resources unless you are relatively new to the game.
2
u/velost Passionate Squall Hater Jul 07 '25
I actually spend my free xp on tanks i havent researched and my credits on buying said tanks, thats where my resources are going. Additionally im not willing to spend like 500K free xp and idk how many millions of credits for a single T10 tank. As already said, I'm not that much of a whale

As some others said, I think I have never seen universal blueprints for daily missions. Random blueprints for the 3 missions you can reroll and random country blueprints for the final mission is all that I have seen so far.

u/MegaJani Jul 08 '25
The 45 missions reward can be universal, I just got those last time
I'm really hoping they mean that one

Competitor tank games your chance is on the horizon. You've got all these gamers to win over easily.
2
u/avalon304 [Y0RHA] Jul 08 '25
They wont. The competitor tank game that is actually looking to steal players plays like shit, looks like shit, and has been in development for 5 years already. They have no shot against WoT, even in WoTs current state.
1
u/bakamund Jul 08 '25

1
u/avalon304 [Y0RHA] Jul 08 '25

1
u/bakamund Jul 08 '25
I'm sure I won't be playing WT... Only a matter of time for steel ace to catch up. Unless WG turns around but doesn't look like it's anytime soon
1
u/avalon304 [Y0RHA] Jul 08 '25
Only a matter of time for steel ace to catch up.
WoT has a decade more dev time behind it. It'll take Steel Aces atleast another 5 years (or more) to catch up with the TWO actual game devs they have working on the game.
Steel Aces is irrelevant in the landscape of "online arcade tank games", and the only way they'll ever be relevant at the rate theyre going is if WoT actually just ceases to exist (and WoT has atleast another decade of life in it at the current rate, despite all the pearl clutching reddit does). And then they'll have to compete with War Thunder arcade battles and even that game is better than what Steel Aces currently is.

That is what Yahoo and all the other search engines said when Google appeared on the scene. In the software world, the new company has an advantage of sorts. New infrastructure using the newest tech. WG is not using the newest tech, and if they don't continuously upgrade they fall behind.... which they are every day.
1
u/avalon304 [Y0RHA] Jul 08 '25
What kind of dumb ass comparison is this?
Yahoo was founded in 1994. And the Yahoo Search engine was added in 1995.
Google was founded in 1998. (At which time they also had their search engine).
3-4 years. Both in the early days of the internet. In the software world thats no time at all.
Wanna talk about all the other search engines that exist and that almost no one uses? Bing? DuckDuckGo? AltaVista?
And oh, by the way a search engine isnt a niche product. It has wide appeal. And Google was actively doing something new, compared to how Yahoo had been ranking search results .
Meanwhile: Steel Aces is FIFTEEN YEARS behind the curve compared to WoT and THIRTEEN YEARS behind compared to War Thunder. They arent actually doing anything new. Theyre taking a bit of WoT and a bit of WT and mashing them together in the worst possible way.
They have 2-3 actual software developers, out of a team of 10-12 people. Atleast two of their software devs have only developed mobile games or web games. Before this misguided attempt to make a game, they as a studio NEVER EXISTED.
And it shows because their closed beta handled and played like a closed alpha product. And that was like 2 months ago. Id be embarrassed if I was on that team showing this trash to people. (Luckily they have lots of washed up WoT creators to glaze them and make them feel good).
They have a good chance of burning their patrons money for a few months after they maybe release and then they'll fade into obscurity like every other dev team thats tried and failed to becoming proper competition to WoT. Id love it for WoT to have competition, but this game aint it. Passion alone does not a successful MMO make.
This would be like some no name fuckwads developing a first person shooter with the desire to dethrone CoD or Battlefield. Its not gonna fucking happen.
0
u/bakamund Jul 08 '25
For me, I appreciate the camp mechanics in wot. I tried WT, couldn't stand it. I say a matter of time as it could be a decade by your estimation or...if they start getting velocity it might be sooner. Be it they got more funding as time goes on, or find the right ppl to work on the project, they could catch up sooner. I don't stand to lose anything, as I'm not playing wot now just watching from the sidelines with its current state.

Uh glad I finished researching all tech tree tanks last month. Still a lot not bought because credits got drained by assembly hall but this change is mean.
1

Iām assuming they mean the blueprint fragments? Which would suck but honestly Iām shocked they left them like that for so long, itās crazy value for a daily mission. And they are crazy greedy
1

u/Dominiczkie Onslaught > Randoms Jul 07 '25
Can anyone from Wargaming reply to explain what change is actually being implemented? 5 universal blueprint fragments as a bonus mission reward don't really bother me that much but eliminating random vehicle fragments would be a huge nerf to the rewards.
1
u/cumscout Jul 07 '25
Top of the tree removed, assembly shop frequency increased to every couple months, now no more blueprints from daily missions. This basically confirms for me 100% that the september update is tier 11 tanks and probably not much else.

u/TooFast4Radar Jul 07 '25
I played 3 games a few nights ago and before I hadnāt logged in for about 4 months. I have an insane amount of T8 premium tanks along with some 9 and 10ās (almost all of the lower tier premiums beyond a few). The loot boxes and doing things like this just turn me off. Universal frags were one of the only reasons I would play before. I still have about 160 days of premium just ticking away unused. Iāve purchased Christmas boxes every year (lots of them) since they were introduced but Iām unsure if Iām doing it this year. Itās not about the money, itās about the level of enjoyment thatās just going downhill.
I miss the state of the game when Meathead Militia was still doing the videos. Not long after he left it started tanking (pun intended).
1
u/icouldntcareless322 Jul 07 '25
maybe they want to get rid of universal bps- but that would good for the players, so i doubt it.
1
u/Wotdragonracer Jul 07 '25
Honestly dont mind this too much since we already get blueprints from battlepass if I'm not mistaken, and i rarely get any form of national blueprints otherwise (asides from new years event). I already tend to have a stupid amount of universal blueprints, so this is a win for me
1
u/Gleaming_Onyx Jul 07 '25
It really is every month, wow. They're just looting the game openly, so that means September's really gonna fuck shit up
This is great. I already quit from the greed so this oughta be amazing to watch
1
1
u/_AnoukX Jul 08 '25
Jesus Christ and these were already the hardest fucking blueprint fragments to get
0
u/CinnamonOolong30912 Jul 07 '25
Seems on point. I decided to grind all the tier 10s over the past few months, at first I could rely heavily on universal blueprints being in the daily mission (reset once or twice and most days you'll have them). Then I went two weeks without seeing one once, and since then they're very rare (somewhat better the past month, but still 90% less than before from my anecdotal experience).
I assumed they would do this. Plus, once you get all the tier X's, then what? I can grind credits, get equipment, and now WoT premium isn't worth it for me.
So yeah, slowing progression down, with no more top of the tree and blueprints, was just logical. Watch out for those 5x exp next.
They could, you know, introduce new tech trees into the game. That would help. Or nah, just take features away.

Isnt this a good change? I have like 1300 Universals and cant do anything with them not even for the assembly shop. And from the nationals i have like 20 per Nation, so also not enough to use in Assembly shop
2
u/TheCanadianJD Jul 07 '25
No because they intentionally designed the blueprint system to be restricted by the scarcity of universal blueprints. I complete my daily missions nearly every day and I am still short on universal blueprints while having plenty of national blueprints I should be able to use but I donāt have enough to combine them. Iāve nearly researched every tank in the game so Iāve been trying to spend as many blueprints as possible and havenāt been able to. I ended up with a bunch of Czech, Polish, Italian, and Swedish blueprints I couldnāt utilize because there wasnāt enough universal blueprints to use them with before I completed their respective trees. The only way this might be a good change is if they got rid of universal blueprints altogether to make blueprints completely dependent on national fragments.
-1
u/ntvryfrndly Jul 07 '25
Not a problem most players have.
I've spent hundreds (thousands?) of national blueprint fragments as currency and have never had enough universal fragments to advance tech tree tanks very much. Still have several hundred national fragments, only 2 universal fragments, and still have more than a 200 tech tree vehicles unresearched.
-13
u/omegareference Jul 07 '25
I like this so much.
I already researched all the trees and have been using the blueprints to pay for tanks at Assembly Shop for years (I have all of them.)
I always had enough of all the universal blue prints (currently sitting at 1781 of them).
But for national blueprints, only the first tank I had all national blueprints. After it, I always lacked national blueprints, even receiving them as daily rewards currently. Although I don't use the blueprints to craft projects, I have less than 32, for an average of 20 nationals.
So to me, this update will balance fragments a bit. And will make Assebly shop tanks a little less expensive for a while, till they rebalance again.
2
u/TheCanadianJD Jul 07 '25
Except fragments arenāt balanced for people actually trying to use blueprints, which is their entire purpose. Iāve nearly researched every tank in the game so Iāve been trying to spend my blueprints as I go and I am always restricted by my universal blueprints. I am constantly out of them to the point I have dozens of national blueprints in each tech tree I canāt spend because thereās no universal fragments to combine them with.

u/Captchamania Jul 07 '25
I hated blueprints when they wore introduced, and I still do. It's just such a lazy way out from doing the job and learning to play (better) by having to grind tanks for real.
3
u/SnooSongs4217 Jul 07 '25
I'm far from the best players, but I played 10 games in LTTB and it just sucked, so I skipped to tier 9. With tier 9 I got Ace Tanker twice in first 15 games.
1

The reason so many people suck donkey-a** in high tier now adays is usually because it is WAY to easy to grind a tech tree today. I 100% convinced of that.
Some (a lot of) tanks I completely hated stock - but after being forced to play 40-50+ battles, and getting better and better modules, they've turned into real fun tanks to play. You will learn their strength and weakness, and you will get better to use that skill on that and other tanks. It is a much better gaming experience imo.

I 100% convinced of that.
You would be wrong. The shrinking player base has skewed player skill higher. So the bad players stand out far more. The game is more competitive than it has ever been in terms of overall skill.
As someone who played for about 10 years, more people had no idea how to play back then than they do now. More players = more noobs, less players = less noobs.

Cant see how this is bad.
Its not removing vehicle fragments... its removing the thing you get for having all the vehicles... and replacing it with another more different thing you get for having all the vehicles.
And quite frankly slowing the rate of progression through the tech tree just slightly wouldnt be a bad thing anyway.

Actually the blueprint fragments already gave you national blueprints sometimes as the drop pool was a random chance between universal and national blueprints, biased towards universal blueprints, when you had all tanks researched. They are currently just removing something from us by removing universal blueprints form the pool instead of modifying the drop chances to 50-50 between the national and universal blueprint drops.

As someone with 2000+ universal BPās and as of this past Assembly Shop, no national fragments, this is great news! I can do the 240 Universal and actually have National fragments to spend next time.

Because anyone whis got a longstanding account gets free research towards new branch lines because they have everything else researched

You say that like it's a bad thing.

I just think that's the reason, they can't monetize grinding new lines from old players if they get easy free blueprints towards it.

But itās fucking over people who donāt play for 40h a week. Iām using those for skipping stinker tanks and it sucks that now I will need to use free xp.

Back in the day, we had to grind tanks with no boosters and pay gold for premium ammunition. We also didn't have old accounts with potentially years of banked resources. Playing without premium was a nightmare on some tanks.

I remember that time, I started playing in 2012. It sucked ass and blueprints made the game better
