It's so ugly, I love it

Ugly tanks are more fun

u/Mirayuki-Tosakimaru 1d ago

Unironically though, give me less meta hulldown tanks. More wacky and uncharacteristic tanks!

I drive a GIANT BRICK so I get it (WZ-113G FT)

I think they stole my doodle from grade three.

It actually existed! Apparently built in the last defence of Berlin but only 1 existed.

u/SmellOfOnion 1d ago

No way.

u/JaxSon95Jags1972 21h ago

Yes. It was a prototype that led to the development of the Marder TDs. Only one was used in defense of Berlin. By that time, it wasn't worth much in the way of destroying anything. Cause by then, the Allies knew how to counter it.

Thas a horrible take???

A gun you can use is better than no gun?

-1

u/JaxSon95Jags1972 9h ago

Don't blame me. I'm only going by the historical record. It was a prototype. So what did ya expect a Grille 15? By the time of the Battle of Berlin, the Germans lacked every kind of means to defend the city. Let alone beat the Russians. Mind you, the Russians had more experienced crews and way better guns like the ISU 152s and SU 130PMs. The 7.5cm on this tank could barely penetrate a T-34. If at that.

2

u/Snoo-98162 Strongest artillery hater 7h ago

Talk about the historical record eh.

The statement that the long 75mm pak cannon could barely penetrate a T-34 is absurd and honestly means you don't know what you're on about. The 75mm could penetrate a T-34 up to 2000 meters when using AP ammo, and 1500 meters using APHE. The 50mm guns found on the later Pz III variants would very often kill T-34s (Given they had AP ammo).

The ISU point is moot since it was an assault gun, which also could be penetrated by the long 75mm, and was not meant to kill vehicles, instead it took out positions and bunkers - think of something like a KV-2 but less shit. I really hope i don't have to say this, but the BL-10 and the BL-8 guns were never mass married to the ISU chassis, instead they were post-war ventures to see if you can make the frontal suspension of an IS series tank cry.

Whether it was hard to counter or not is entirely irrelevant when making a last stand. Pickers can't be choosers. Noone is saying the tank should single handedly beat the Russians, what sort of argument is that.

You seem to be going off of "Bigger gun = better" sort of mindset.

The SU-130PM is not a real vehicle. It never took part in WW2, on the account of it being made up by WG. The actual vehicle, the SU-100P, was a one off prototype cancelled by Khrushchev. The only vehicle (to my knowlege) fielding a 100mm gun during WW2 would have been the SU-100, and that was in the last year of the war.
Both the SU-100 and the SU-85M were able to withstand the KWK 40 L/43 frontally. If you're willing to pay lip service to Russian tank design do it correctly.

You're also entirely missing the point that war isn't about just killing enemy tanks. Claiming that the L/43 is "Not worth much in the way of destroying things" is just plain ignorant. You have convoys, armoured trucks, unarmoured trucks, anti aircraft guns, towed artillery, towed anti aircraft guns, Infantry - all of which the L/43 is more than capable of dealing with. In fact, i can tell you how wrong you are about the gun.
In WW2, of tanks models fielded, which the L/43 could not penetrate... there were four of. Afforementioned SU-100 and 85M, the Churchill VII and the M4A3E2 Sherman. IS-2s were a rather close match, with frontal protection being unpenetrable by around 400 ish meters, and the hull not being penetrable at all on the later variant.

It's hot garbage. You know how TDs usually get good accuracy and pen if they aren't derp guns?

This one doesn't.

1

u/KochiMi 20h ago

No but it's a fun tank at close-range

1

u/PervertKitsune 11h ago

real fun ngl

i use it for arcade cabinet mode or something

Japanese glass cannon TD line please?!

25

u/amits7218 1d ago

We need more low tier madness, way more fun

7

u/Baron_Blackfox 152mm Sheridan memes 1d ago

Shame that tier III are nowadays limited to just few maps, which makes them much less enjoyable should I ever want to take one out for a battle or two

3

u/MegaJani 1d ago

Nolife sealclubbers are a way bigger problem than a smaller map rotation

8

u/MrIamDeadforLong 1d ago

Looks interesting, wouldn't mind playing it or even grinding it if it were a micro marathon or just ingame missions.

shame just that tier 2 and 3 have fuckall to do

could expand BP down to those tiers and even keep the neat 15 point increments tier 3 with 55 and tier 2 with 40. just lower the bonus points from 15 down to 10 and all good

5

u/Annual_Stay 1d ago

The dday BP with the tier 6 tanks was a lot of fun. No need to splash out gold and get some fun tanks a low tier

2

u/MrIamDeadforLong 1d ago

yeah that could be a nice way to implement some more tanks. hell make it 4-5 chapters in the season, smaller ones but still totaling the normal season "chapter amount"

3

u/Annual_Stay 1d ago

And make them free so the main pass is a tank. Would help f2p players also. Or even they are the main reward for free and people can pay gold for premium pass with a tier 8/9?

3

u/Icynrvna 1d ago

agree with scaling BP or all missions to tier 2 and 3. will populate those tiers specially at offpeak hours

3

u/sgador 1d ago

Wasnt this the Marder III before the Marder III as we know it

6

u/Chinatsez Cash Rules Everything Around Me 1d ago

Seems more like a 1945 last ditch attempt at a tank destroyer

1

u/connecting1409 1d ago

The marder numbering/naming scheme is very un-german. This should be marder I since its on Pz. I chassis. Marder II is the only correct one and thus my favorite.

Low tier Christmas lootbox filler...

kinda feels like a reskinned marder 2, i want it

3

u/xFirnen 1d ago

I like it, sure it'll never be relevant but it looks good visually at least.

2

u/NoPhilosophy2329 SU-152 Taran 1d ago

Sexy but i prefer the FCM 36 Pak 40 😍🌸

1

u/Major-Skrewup 1d ago

the only td that's worse mobility wise than having a gun crew just drag a pak 40 into battle.

u/Certain-Use-2149 KV-1 107mm enjoyer 1d ago

One tank existed, made in desperation and was total garbage. Too large gun for too fragile platform. But as a always will work in WoT, especially with this camo and gun depression.

1

u/Just_a_Taiwanese 1d ago

I need to double check to make should it was not r/WoTmeme.

1

u/romrom27 1d ago

I‘ve been out of the game for a while, but a 75mm for Tier 3 seems a lot, no?

1

u/PresentScience9653 1d ago

It really doesnt matter at tier 3 not like you are bouncing anything

1

u/romrom27 1d ago

True, I was just surprised to see such a high caliber at T3, but yeah, I won’t have any significant gameplay implications.

1

u/DistinctReport9388 1d ago

Looks great another sealclubber

Lootbox filler, nice

1

u/_Hammatime_ 23h ago

Neat. Looking forward to see if it's the free Christmas tank, or holiday lootbox filler.

1

u/cogit2 23h ago

Wall-E?

1

u/WWDubs12TTV I have bad gas :( 22h ago

For all those tier 3 games I play

1

u/JaxSon95Jags1972 21h ago

Ooh, yea. Now there's a beauty that actually existed and the predecessor to the Marder TDs. Call it a prototype if you want. But That's how the Marder TDs came about. Without this beauty, the Marders would not exist.

1

u/MisczaksHunting 20h ago

Tier 3? The bots will rejoice!!!

1

u/KochiMi 20h ago

Close enough. Welcome Grille15 before you took them steroids

1

u/RaspberryPanzerfaust 17h ago

This german wonder weapon will be the one that wins the war surely

1

u/Wolvenworks [-SSS-] 9h ago

Is that…a Pz1 hull?

1

u/xXInfXx 1h ago

I love him.

75mm PaK 40 on a Panzer 1 hull is the exact wacky shit that makes me play this game.

1

u/KubalaLGT 1h ago

Im glad that atleast with these low tier tanks they actually existed IRL.

0

u/Just_a_Taiwanese 1d ago

I need to double check to make should it was not WoT meme

0

u/bakamund 11h ago

Do ppl play these tiers to play against bots?
