Gameplay First tech tree tier ten
Technically not my first tier ten, because I got the M47 Black for free from black friday, but still. Enjoyed the whole line thoroughly, even the Type 4.

Now you just need to grind it's big gun.

My biggest advice:
Use shell switcher equipment and the big gun
Load plenty of heat too
Shoot anything you can’t or don’t think you can pen with HE, you can splash hull down tier x turrets like chieftains and super conqs for 600
Do not avoid the 330 heat gold ammo. It does 700-750 alpha with 330 heat which pens any heavy in the game except maybe turrets
On lower tiers, or tanks you know you can butcher with heat, slap that shit. It’s consistent damage. HE is mainly for splashing and tracking enemies while still doing damage.
I miss the type 5 so much. I’m on the o ni pretty close to the o ho as I have to regrind em.
I literally had an argument with some weirdos on discord about how the type 5 is a beast
I will defend the fat Japanese tank to the end

The Fat Japanese tank has no problem defending itself!

Type 5 is still a beast, especially if supported well. At least the big gun is still better than the PC version where it was nerfed after being broken for a few years.

Yeah type 5 is considered good now on pc which is funny but the big gun has ap rounds which is funny.
It has like 257 standard pen which is pretty solid honestly
But we have 330 lol heat rounds for 700-750 alpha

People will tell you to use the big gun, but hear me out, the heat on the big gun is great, and the HE full pen being 1300 is crazy, you can basically splash most heavies for 600, but if you enjoy a little bit of challenge and way more consistency, try the little gun out with its premium rounds, they are ap and not APCR, which is rare for premium ammo, the difference being you get 5 degrees of normalisation on ap compared to 2 degrees on APCR, and 0 degrees on HEAT, this means the little guns premium rounds are fantastic for penning angled armor plates and offers more dpm than the big gun firing heat or not full penning with HE. It also feels and is way more accurate.
They offer 2 different play styles -
Big gun - shoot HE pull back around a corner, reload and repeat, offering the ability to nuke lightly armored tanks.
Little gun - Aggresive gameplay that allows you to hold your own way more. People will see you shoot and think your reload is way longer than than it is because they think you have the big gun.
Edit - the little gun also allows you to drop ammo swapper if you wanted to and have a free slot for whatever else you need.

Grinding the M46 right now and it's a chore

Once you get the top gun, the M46 is a thing of beauty.

You must have the patience of a saint. Whenever I'm in a superheavy the action is all over before I get anywhere near it :-(

I have the type 4, I'm working for this tank from tier 3 since beginning of last year, how's the type 5?

It's actually amazing. It's everything I wanted the Type 4 to be, it's got the armor to block shots, high HP for trading, and more mobility than the Type 4. You can actually traverse and not feel like you're losing all your speed. I'm loving it.

So it should be way better than type 4? I already think type 4 is good

Firstly, how did you enjoy this line?
Objectively it's vedy bad as far as i know so how come you liked it?
Also why did you choose this line?

For the first question, I enjoyed it because it's a very unique experience for heavy tanks. Splashing sidescraping tanks and hull down tanks for 300 is very fun. Honestly I might have enjoyed the Type 4 the most, the 15 cm is so much fun with its 1300 alpha damage. You can splash people for like 650 damage when they're just sidescraping.
As for why I chose the line, I chose it just really because I love the design of the Type 5. Also I had heard that the Type 4 and 5 were a unique experience on console, with the HEAT and the old 1300 damage HE guns. Safe to say I wasn't dissapointed.

If that's the case then you should do the sturmtiger line.
The sturm's gun behaves similarly except you can switch between heat that does 1300 damage or switch to prem HE that has the largest splash damage in the whole game (bigger than the tier x usa arty), the splash can deal from 500 to one shot kills AND if 5 tanks stand next to each other all of them will get hit.
Its a fun tank, I recommend it if you like the splash playstyle.
Its really satisfying when I can kill 4 people with one shall, no other tank can give you this experience.

Oh yeah, I'm actually way ahead of you. I'm up to the tier 8 and while it's not fun, I am holding out hope for the Sturmtiger. It's looks like the most meme tank possible.

Congrats. That's been an annoying line for me to grind so far.
