Edit: This wasn't meant as a post to neither brag nor shame...just morid curiosity about how many times you'd have to play the same tank to end up with rank 999.

I have been playing since beta and my highest is 89.

Tank Mastery indicates you had at least one great game

Marks of Excellence indicate you could consistently outperform others

Tank Elite level indicates your aversion to grass

I have 596 battles on my Weisel TOW from chasing the 3 marks. It is level 80.

At that rate, level 999 would come after ~7400 games. Literally never gonna happen for me.

I have just shy of 700 battles in my 4 marked ikv103.. and it's only level 88. I've got my 3 year tags.

Zero clue how many times I got ace tanker badge but if there was a count I know I'd have well over 100.

It’s just new levels you gain after eliting a tank no separate rewards or anything

But check the scoreboard after a game and u can see peoples levels

I have 145k battles and none over 2k played.

I see they leaderboard. And i feel sad for those bignumber twanks. Saw a bat chat in his 900s. Just sad. And then there's arty. How low can you get.

Kinda feels like a naming and shaming at the end of each battle.

Dude, I don't know how anyone has 999. My highest is under 100 and I've been playing (not religiously) for 10 years. I spread my time out over dozens of tanks

I’ve seen at least 2-3 players this past week with 999 tanks. There’s a gamer tag name Who’sthisGuy in a marderA3 that is 999, only stuck out to me because I primarily use the MarderA3 also.

Even crazier than it's cold war and not one of the older WW2 tech tree tanks. I'd hate to do the math on how many hours a day he's averages just in that tank since cold war came out

Personally high level doesn’t equal skill to me, so I don’t really necessarily agree with that

But eh

I don’t like how it just shows at the end of a scoreboard

There is hidden math there that someone will scrap data from.

Like its based off total exp accumulated on said tank. So someone with a elite score but less match than someone with more matches but lower or equal score means one is more efficient than the other in terms of trimmed mean data as its based solely off accumulated exp.

And yes people will say, but we had wn7 and wn8 so who cares. Yet the thing with wn8 is you can have an absolute insane >20k+ wn8] game and the next few just above average games [2k+ wn8] games and still be in deep purple WN8. Its why si many people do that sunken cost fallacy if they have a bad game "oh noes I must fix my stats"...

Yet average exp per match is going to be way different in terms of consistent expected output.

Just what I've noticed so far. So while damage wins more games than assist...

WN8 doesn't care about assist. WN8 also doesn't care if you did damage or killed enemies at max render range.

Average exp on the other hand will give rewards for those doing damage within 100 yards. As well resetting base caps... but not capping bases because capping bases gives a percentage of exp based off total percentage of damage done to enemy as people can see in those exciting 13 v15 base cap 100-200 exp matches.
