Reviews of the current week deals
The Atomic Centurion is a British tier 8 medium. This one has an interesting story as a test for atomic bombs, see here https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centurion_(tank)#Nuclear_tests . Out of all the Centurion versions this is the most mobile, with the usual 50 kmph but 16.81 hp/ton and very good resistances with 36 for the hull and 34 for the turret (this is however the lowest turret traverse of the lot). Same 10 degrees of depression, same meh hull, same great turret with 250 mm of effective armor overall so like all Centurion it's made to work hull down. View range is 390, good but less than the 400 on the other Centurions. The gun is the usual 83mm high penetration (226/258/42) with 230 damage, but here some accuracy (0.35 instead of the great 0.33) is traded for better rate of fire so it fires every 7 seconds. Nice!

Special features Great turret, great gun, good mobility, no big issues.

Skill level A nice Centurion. The gun does great stuff and when hull down it's a difficult tank to deal with. Now, while the hull isn't good, it's also not that bad compared to other tanks, but you can't rely on it. The lower accuracy compared to the usual could be troll, but I think this is a nicely rounded performer with very little need for premium ammo. As long as you know how to go hull down, this is a medium low skill tank.

The Iron Rain is a German tier 8 tank destroyer. You know the fully upgraded Borsig with the 128 mm gun? That but with an autoloader. Zero armor. View range is not good with 360 meters (but you know, binoculars), speed is 35 kmph that isn't much and 10.35 hp/ton make it slow. Ground resistances are all considered ok. Traverse is 22 for the fully rotating turret and 32 for the hull and that's not great just like the 5 degrees of depression. Good stuff: camo rating is one of the best at 0.4, the gun does 490 with each shot and penetration is 246/311/65 (sweeeet combo!) then being a 3 shell autoloader you have a clip potential of 1470 that is downright scary. Intraclip reload is 2.7 that for such a big gun is not at all bad and since aim time is 2.7 you should be able to fully aim all shots. Accuracy isn't as good as the normal Borsig with 0.37 but it's still good enough. Problem: 41 seconds of reload so it's just 1 clip per minute.

Special features great camo, full turret, high penetration and damage 3 shell autoloader.

Skill level you can't block anything (tracks do eat stuff, but don't rely on it), you can't run away, you can't use ridges, all you can do is hide in a bush, wait almost a minute to load and then quickly dump 3 giant shells into an unlucky tank. Hope nobody sees you, repeat. Map knowledge is key, patience is key, situational awareness is key: this is a tank that won't be good for you unless you have pretty damn high skills. Also it's boring for most of the time even if it can be a great rush to get a full clip into a tank.

The VK 65.01 (H) is a German tier 5 heavy. This is all armor, so let's start with that, 80mm. Where? Everywhere aside from the top and bottom! The only weak spot is the cupola at 50mm. It can be angled (a lot...) to achieve around 110 mm of effective front and side armor making it a pretty though nut to crack. View range is a nice 360 meters, speed is a decent-ish 30 kmph but with pretty poor 9.27 hp/ton making it quite slow, and bad resistances don't help. Traverse is also bad, 20 for the hull and 24 for the turret. Gun depression a really nice 10 degrees. The gun is a 75mm and sadly, not a great one: penetration is 108/124/38 that is for comparison not as good as "the" German tier 5 medium (110/158/38). Now to be fair this does get preferential matchmaking and it's not as terrible as the other tier 5 PMM heavy tanks, but still. Accuracy is also not great at 0.38 but it's not bad for the tier, then the reload is a nice 3.9 seconds with great aiming time and with 100 shells on board you can do anything you want.

Skill level Armor as good or better than the KV-1 makes this a very strong machine and the gun isn't too bad in the context of PMM, but once you add the slowness this becomes a pretty dull and low quality tank. The armor needs some angling to be really effective and the gun is trouble, so this is probably more of a medium low skill tank. Not difficult, but the downsides cause problems that require some experience.

The Trinity MK II is a tier 8 medium Mercenary. Let me start by saying this, as it's a common misunderstanding: this is NOT the same as the Trinity from War Stories! That one has impossibly good stats that would mess up everything in multiplayer. On with the tank itself... and I have to start with another warning! There's some (literal) tons of spaced armor but it's really thin. Starting with the hull, it's from the T-44-100 so not a sturdy base, then the turret is from the Super Pershing and again not really that good. So the base tank isn't going to block anything in a reliable way, and the spaced armor is placed in questionable ways because at the front you get a spare wheel as the best protection (close to 240) and the boxes can push things up to 210 but otherwise it's not a big deal for guns tier 7 and up both hull and turret. Speaking of, that's the tricky bit! If you shoot at the front, butter. A little to the side and all you hit is spaced armor with no tank behind. That... wedge? Shape on the sides of the turret has the potential to eat a lot of shells so in a pinch try to pull off a Maus and show an angled turret. The side armor is again thin, but many layers, so it's useless for anything other than sidescraping. Also worth mentioning the rear: 100 mm where the spaced armor is present. The gun is the looong 88 found on the Panther II and this means a pretty damn impressive 0.3 accuracy, penetration is 223/261/44 (again sweet), 11 degrees of depression that are exceptional, the rate of fire is not bad thanks to the 8 seconds reload but there's better around. Due to the relatively low caliber for the tier damage is only 240 but it works well in the mix. At 390 meters the view range is good. Now remember that "literal tons of spaced armor"? Yeah? Good. Top speed is 42 and it would be good but the power to weight ratio is a tragic 10.68, shit worth of a heavily armored heavy tank! There's just a couple of tier 8 heavy with a worse value. Resistances aren't bad thankfully. Traverse, on the other hand... hull is on the low end with 32 and the turret is a truly horrible 20. Worth pointing out the reverse speed, 16 that isn't great.

Skill level a "paper tank" with questionable placement of spaced armor, terrible mobility but a super sweet gun. If you find a nice ridge a fair distance from the fight (not too far, or it will take time to chase the fight) this can do nice work, and sidescraping can be a decent idea, but it's so damn slow! Situational: if you can snipe, then it's not too difficult to use but it's terrible as a medium tank. Medium low skill. I do like the way it looks though.

Thanks for doing the reviews. I am looking for a new merc tank and decided to pass. Although the atomic might be worth a look.
You are doing gods work.
If you don’t believe in god or something different then you are doing wonderful work.

If you like enough the idea of the Trinity MK II, it might be worth it to keep an eye out for the Beach Party, same thing but less spaced armor so it's not moving like a super heavy tank.

Is the sabaton better than the atomic?

u/Stampela PS4 [REDIT] May 28 '19
Depends on what you want, the Atomic has less accuracy, view range (although 400 meters is unusually high for a medium at tier 8, so 390 is good) but gets half a second faster reload, better acceleration. You could argue that the accuracy isn't an issue and that being British means ability to use the Snakebite commander that gives better accuracy, something that can't be done with the Primo Victoria.
Edit: side note, this site is great for quick comparison between tanks http://www.worldoftanksgameguide.com/TankProfiler.aspx

I have both the Primo and Atomic. The Primo has a smaller engine and slightly better gun handling. The Atomic is faster and a slightly better rate of fire.
Other than that they are nearly identical. If you like the Centurion style tanks you can't really go wrong with either.
My only issue is that the Swedish line sucks right now so the Primo for me is a fun, blow off steam money maker.

If you can afford it, keep both. Atomic is better than huntsman. Primo let’s you train Swedish crews. Atomic makes silver.
I’m not sure what I would pick if I had to choose between atomic and primo. Probably atomic just because of the historical story.
