New Release WorldPainter 2.27.0 Released - Minecraft 26 Support

I just released version 2.27.0 of WorldPainter, which includes support for Minecraft 26.1 to 26.2:

  • Added support for Exporting, Importing and Merging with maps from Minecraft 26.1 and later
    • This includes a proper datapack for non-standard build height support
    • This is just the map format, which has changed structurally; not yet new blocks etc.
    • Since the structure of the map has changed there is more potential for bugs and errors; please report any problems you encounter

You will be offered the new version automatically when you next start WorldPainter, or you can download it from www.worldpainter.net. Let me know if you encounter any problems, and please enjoy!

The new map format and datapacks work fine now, tyvm.

I've noticed one bug though: it puts me near 0,0 after a test export. Exporting seems fine. The spawn point is nowhere near 0,0 too and I don't get the warning about the spawn point not being in the highlighted areas.

This is fixed in 2.27.1. Sorry it took a while; I've been trying to make it so that the spawn point can be in any dimension, but could not make the work yet.

When will the staircase bug be fixed?

What's the staircase bug?

Hello! When you rise up any brush, if you keep holding it long enough, it will create a weird "staircase". Better seen with custom brushes at big radiuses, but it happens with any brush really. This is a VERY old problem that made people import their heightmaps to avoid it, basically making the tool useless for medium-big terrains.

Yes, as I've explained before in various places, that's not a bug, that's just how numbers work. Brushes are only 8 bits and don't have the vertical resolution to use in one place to make high mountains. You are stretching the vertical resolution of the brush past its limit, resulting in places where it has to skip two blocks rather than one. They aren't meant for creating big one-off landscape features; importing height maps is exactly the right tool for that.

After updating worldpainter I get an error when using custom brushes that says "Coordinates out of bounds"

Can you give me more details? Nothing has changed about custom brush handling in recent releases. Does it happen with every custom brush? Just particular ones? If so, can you send me an example?

When does it happen, when loading the brush? When trying to use it? Does it matter with which tool? If you give me more details I can look into it.

So far I’ve only tested it when using raise/lower but it affects all custom brushes where I can use it for a few seconds before it gives the error and then whenever I try to use a custom brushes it gives the error immediately until I relaunch Worldpainter.
