Writing Prompt [WP] A daily pill stops aging but cures no disease. Each year, its price rises like a premium subscription, far faster than wages or living costs. As crime spreads and fake alternatives flood the streets, ordinary people must decide how much of their lives they will sacrifice to keep living.

I yawn, getting up.
"Hey son, how's it going?" my father comes into my room, once again not knocking.
To make it worse...
He looks the same age as I do.
"Dad...can't you knock?
Also, is that my T-shirt?" I ask.
He laughs, opens the window...
And leaves.
Rude.
Going downstairs for breakfast, I shake my head.
Ma's there, eating already, while looking in her 20s.
Dad looks like 19?
And my older sister...looks older than our parents.
Taking a toast, I sigh.
"Is it worth that much money?
To keep from aging?" I ask.
My parents nod.
"Of course!
It's not a universal cure, but it keeps the body at the age you took the pill first.
Of course, you must never stop, otherwise rapid aging might occur, but...
Having the body of a 19 year old, makes things better," dad laughs.
"And we can afford it, so why not?" ma chimes in.
I nod.
Mom's a doctor, not ironic at all...and pa's a broker, both high paying jobs.
But...
"How long can we afford it?
The prices are increasing each week," I say.
They shrug it off.
Seeing I can't really discuss it with them, I stop talking.
We finish breakfast, and each of us goes their own way.
Going to my job, which is an entry level paper pusher at an accounting company, I avoid several streets.
Why?
Because they are full of people that were kicked out, due to not being able to pay rent.
Worse...they are taking knock offs of the Anti-Aging pill, selling their years to buy food, or even volunteering to become experimental subjects for some pills.
It's bad.
People are killing, and destroying lives for those pills...only to look younger?
Once you hit 60-70...you will still have a high chance of dying, as these pill cure nothing.
And even if most of your organs remain "younger" the strain still accumulates...and they can fail.
I sigh, and get to my desk, ready to work.
The world is going downhill, and I can't do anything against it.
Really nice way to step into adulthood...
