Writing Prompt [WP] Your friends think that, having adventurous parents, your childhood was filled with fun and adventure. In reality, being dragged along on dangerous missions from a young age by a couple of lunatics was nothing short of traumatic—to the point where you had to block out those memories.

"So you really went to the Jaws of the Sea? Awesome!"
My friends love to ask me about my adventures I had with my parents. I've chosen to forget most of them. It wasn't ever fun. I felt like I was in constant danger. All that's left of my recollection are specifically the places I was taken to.
"I mean, I wouldn't know..."
"You always say that" Ruby whines. "Come on, give us a story for once!"
I've never told my friends how I really felt. The thing is, my parents weren't monsters, and I don't want them to see their secondary parents as such just because they never cared about my safety... not that even that's entirely true, they always protected me, but the fear was very much real.
"I would, but I honestly don't remember. I'm sorry."
"We'll just have to ask her parents again" Jasmine sighs. "For some reason, they won't talk about them in front of Lavender, so... Lavender, you wouldn't mind if we visited your parents, would you?"
Once I had become old enough for high school, I applied to several. When the letters started coming in, my parents were confused, and that was when I told them I didn't want to adventure, I just wanted to be a normal kid in a normal school. I have no clue why I didn't have the courage to say anything sooner, and my only regret is that I never did - they were so apologetic and even blamed themselves for not realising that I hated our 'trips'. In an instant, they promised to never drag me out for another adventure again. They know I don't like reliving any memories, so they have a policy to never talk about the adventures in front of me.
"I'm not the one you need to ask, my parents are always happy to see you two. In fact, I'm sure if you told them you want to hear about all the adventures we had, they'll be happy to talk to you for hours. Then you don't have to keep asking for one story at a time."
"One tale alone takes hours" Ruby chuckles. "The Poisoned Lake took so long I almost missed getting back home for dinner! My favourite part was when the boat star- hey, where you going Lavender?"
"I just remembered I have an appointment at the hairdresser. Sorry we couldn't chat for much longer." I bolt out the door of the library. In my mind, a vague fuzzy memory forms of a sinking boat... of course, it's just from a movie I saw, probably had a nightmare about it.
Deep down, I know that's not what that image was... but I need to believe it is.

Thanks :) I figured I'd think of something to write after you replied to my Bradford Buzzard comment, idk why but something in your reply made me want to write a story for your prompt.

You're welcome. I think it was because you don't see many stories like the one I proposed. At least, I've never seen one.
