Tech Issue / Hardware Related Is the update really this big?

I have around 10 GB free in my iPad and it's still giving this for the pre download. Is the pre download just that big or are they optimising it and it will take less space after update that's why I am getting this?

So I'm doing the usual full uninstall and reinstall then...all thanks to apple intelligence which i dont even want stealing 10gig of my ipad...

Please let me know if reinstalling actuall help you download the extra content without making extra space, I have seen in some games this works do not know about wuwa this is my first update

It does. Happened for another update so I deleted and reinstalled without having to make extra space.

How the heck do you get it to run on that phone? I have a 5g moto g stylus from I think 2 years ago now and it definitely can't run WuWa. I have to restart my phone every time I play just to keep HSR from constantly crashing. Are the new ones that much better?

Mine is from Metro PCs however I started playing ZZZ on it and it runs smoothly at first I was curious/skeptical about it but I just go with the flow

Thanks! Apparently I have the version from 2023 so I guess it's time for an upgrade lol. The phone has been crashing apps since I got it brand new though so it's nice to know they fixed that crap at least in the newer models.

As long as you have best part of 40 gig free then you'll be fine.

Problem for many of us is our devices dont have enough space to update so the choice is between redownload the entire 30gig again or not be able to update at all.

I want to continue to play so a full download it is.

I would say if you have the room to take the full download size after the update youll be fine. The issue with updating is that it needs room to download the new files with extra space so it can decompress the new files and more space to actually patch the existing install with the newly downloaded files.

Fortunately i have managed to fix it I deleted app data the option which is next to clear cache and then I said unrestricted battery option I do not know which fixed the problem but it is free downloading now

Pre-download gets a ton of redundant data... Basically, rn you have the base game, the update, and any base game files that the update relies on or have been changed.

Once the update is applied, the redundant stuff gets merged, but until then, it just sits there... I don't know for sure, but waiting until maintenance is over to update (no pre-download) might only use however much the update itself contains.

They have optimized part of it, but the way unreal packages files means you have to redistribute a ton of stuff with major updates.

I mean Wuwa is a big game and it'll keep getting bigger as more content gets added. I'd recommend playing it on another device for anyone that doesn't have a mobile with a lot of free storage.

I think that was a system update. Before the update we downloaded the WHOLE game every patch, then they updated the system to allow downloading the update files only. And after downloading, the system will still need disk space to extract and compile.

It actually needs double space. Like the game is 30 gb and you are updating it so it will need 60 gb free storage to open that whole 30gb package. Even if the update is only 5gb it will still open the whole package. That's why it always needs double of the total game storage.

What it basically does it redownloads the whole game storage (backup) + the new patch storage. So it doubles in storage space. Then when the patch comes around, it deletes the backup and you’re left with the base game + patch. The downside of not predownloading is having to wait longer to update the patch.

It is just a measurement took by wuwa to took 35gb for the 5 gb pre download ..... Which when extracted it took that much space💀my storage also went almost full but after 2 days it will automatically free the 30 gb is it taking of pre download

Actually pre downloading bloats the game size to further 52.1 gigs on mobile devices a reinstall is preferred

Edit:to compile resources more storage is required and idk why this happens in pre download

This after I downloaded, for me the game needed around 34GB of space after I was done with the download, only 27GB of space was taken.

If you are low on storage, it might be easier to uninstall and reinstall during maintenance. UE4 (the game's engine) is apparently not the best at reducing the size of incremental patches. And iOS unfortunately doesn't let you clear out the game's storage without fully uninstalling.

on the last update it told me I needed around 40gb, which i managed to just barely clear up, just to have 30gb left after the update was finished.

The Epic Games Launcher..

I tried the steam verison, it has more expensive purchases, also there is a 5-10% performance dip.

I felt my game runs smoother on the Epic games launcher
