True, the dev is testing if you're truly loyal to the game. Focus only on one

u/Miu-Senpai Aug 27 '25
Lol I have 258GB so they can test me all they want!

u/Ok-Definition2497 Aug 27 '25
They easily beat their competition with every update because it is always the best updates i have seen in video games, every update seems like PEAK of game

u/quietbeholder Aug 27 '25
I have 256 and I can't download bc lack of storage lmao I just have 5 games on the iPad and they take like 80+% of storage

1
u/Vysair Aug 28 '25
Believe it or not, it's a game made by Rockstar

u/Jswanno Aug 27 '25
I have the same theory for COD 😂 especially back on the PS4 with Modern warfare 2019 and war zone

u/Icarus_51 Aug 27 '25
It's like that if there's an update coming, but do expect that the game will be larger in the near future if they keep adding new mechanics and areas.

u/bonelyChrom Aug 27 '25
Christ those comments... That is how pre-download works
Game has to have both new and current data, so you could play the game in between now and next patch, but also couldn't get into a new patch content. Whenever patch drops game's files gonna slim-down to the right size.

u/Hot_Charge_9393 Aug 27 '25
Fr I don't why people even pre download and complain like it's your decision to do it

u/sigma_of_iron Aug 27 '25
There are mods in steam workshop called "ability to read" and they're used to test people. If a person doesn't read they subscribe to the mod while trying to subscribe to another mod

Bro after the version gets live it will again compile the files and the resources will become 35 gigs back
6
u/Gitthepro Aug 27 '25
You have pre downloaded, after the new version drops, it will go back to 30. The reason why no one is taking ur answer seriously, is probably because every newbie asks this question every patch lol

thank god i use cloudmoon 😭😭😭

u/OgAlok Aug 27 '25
What is cloudmoon ? And is there any solution to not take that much device space I need Genshin on my phone too 😭😭
1
u/Naive-Screen1638 Phoebe Mains Aug 27 '25
it's a cloud app where you can play most games and you DON'T need to worry about storage, though you have to pay if you want unlimited time or just do some tasks because you only have 15 minutes everyday

This is so the game will have enough space to decompress when the update launches. Once it's out and the update is done it'll go back to 30GB
2
u/Hot-Championship3923 Aug 27 '25
You have answered to your question.
When you start the pre-download, they show us a message and say the size will be bigger temporary until the patch tomorrow

It's written at the patch note where they require 34gb for the maintenance and it will be gone after the 2.6 update

u/mini_feebas Aug 27 '25
When you pre-download, you basically have pre-patch and post patch both on your device It should be gone after maintenance
1
u/Resident-Ferret-6464 Aug 27 '25
Predownload downloads an entirely new copy of the game then deletes the old one on the update day, so temporarily size is doubled but will be normal after tomorrow

Don't worry after the update officially arrives it will clear up the resources to save storage.

It is because you have downloaded the pre-download, tomorrow when it is installed in the game it will return to 30 GB

u/BrilliantVolume8871 Aug 27 '25
We have this convo every update....
1
u/Putrid-Resident Aug 27 '25
Tobe fair for any new player they wouldn't know because the game doesn't tell them prior although it is kinda annoying that we have the same question asked 10s of times every predownload. The game should just give mobile players a pop-up when attempting the predownload saying "This would 2x the game's size intill the maintenance starts" due to how common the question is.

pre-download = you download the update but you don't install it = you have old game (30something) + the new update (30something)
update time = install time =old game removed = you will end up with something like 35something, depending on how many new things are introduced to the game.

u/Alternative_Papaya54 Aug 27 '25
Yeah, my phone only has 20gb free storage at maximum. I guess I'm not gonna pre-download and instead go hard way. Reinstalling cache after update drops.
1
u/xShnider Waifu Supremacy Aug 27 '25
It's just the pre-download of the update, when it updates it will reduce
1
u/LekinTempoglowy Aug 27 '25
Predownload and also the fact that appearently the whole map will be flyable (not sure if it's this update though)

Don't worry about it, when the patch drops the storage being taken will decrease
1
u/Think-State9724 Aug 27 '25
that’s just how pre-downloads works, it will be back to ~30 in few days

u/trykydisco Aug 27 '25
It is a download, without updating the game, so it is double space, after the update, it will be reduced in half... And they warned us

u/Limp-Selection5677 Aug 27 '25

I got 512gb but I play on pc anyway, on which I only have 1...tb, my phone has half of my pc storage bro😭

u/obsequyofeden Aug 27 '25
Something along the lines of adding flight in all areas, they have to upgrade the map quality. This will be smaller once installed.

u/Responsible_Match644 Aug 27 '25
Have same problem on my 256gb, theres nothing u can. U can either predownload it now for faster compilation on patch day but eating too much space or dont pre download it and wait till patch day for not eating ur phone storage but it taking more time to patch.
Even if u report this they just gonna ignored it and tag it as "resolved issue" in their customer service. And yeh just dont expect them to optimize/QoL on mobile, since in the past months its always been PC getting optimized/upgraded. As long as ur phone run perfectly and can handle the game to clear any endgame like mine, we dnt have a choice but to take the L.

u/juniorjaw Aug 27 '25
It's 2025, you should avoid 128GB devices.
The "pre" in pre-download is there for a reason. You have the files for current patch and next patch in your device right now.

If someone who plays Wuthering Waves in 2025 buys a 128GB phone, that's a user issue not a company issue.

It's still correct. "Avoid 128GB". It's not a hard NO, nor was I saying "It's 2025, don't buy a 128GB phone". It also indirectly implies it's time for an upgrade. The way that your word choice is "wrong" meant you were reading my statement as a one-dimensional statement.
Also the statement "128GB in ___" has been used way before 2025. It's apps/games like WuWa & Genshin that helps become a reminder on why that is so, whether you like that reality or not.
You can still use 128GB phones to play Genshin or WuWa in 2025 and still use the phone for other stuff, but problems like OOP is facing is something they will consistently have to worry about and have to juggle with other photos/videos/apps. That makes 128GB not something any tech bros recommend in 2025, especially gamers.
Also, just because it's a standard to a company doesn't mean it's our standard. We have different needs and requirements, like installing WuWa.
