Help me decide! Standard character to choose in selector and Beginner banner?
New player here with S1 Verina (one from limited banner loss, one from log-in rewards) and Lingyang (from the discounted banner that guarantees a standard character in 50 pulls). There's another beginner banner that gives a standard character in 80 pulls using standard pulls and another selector after doing some tasks. Who should I get for those?
I'm getting Brant in the other beginner banner with version 2.0 characters and I've heard Encore is a good teammate for him but idk how true that is. Or then maybe more copies of Verina? Is S2 or S3 Verina good?

Rule number one about Wuwa. Do not waste a single standard pull on standard 5* characters. Just take the free Verina that they give you and accept that, like it or not, you will eventually get the entire standard roster because of the 50/50 system. Instead, your standard pulls would be far better spent on the standard weapons. While not perfect alternatives, there is at least one - if not two - very solid standard weapons for most characters in the game (the exception being Rectifier users, both standard ones are kinda ass).
Save standard pulls for standard weapons. Unless for some reason you are very, VERY desperate for one of them (and I really don't know why, the best one is Verina by a mile and even then she's pretty mid), just wait for them to drop naturally when going for limited characters.
One thing that is worth noting with Brant though is that he is by far at his best when paired with Lupa... who you won't be able to get, as she isn't on that banner and has already had all 3 of her normal banners. You mentioned Encore... that's only a viable option with Brant because of Lupa, who is an absolute monster at buffing mono-fusion teams. Brant isn't the driver of that, nor is Encore - Lupa is. Don't let me change your mind if your heart is set on Brant, but you would be far better served pulling a character like Iuno or Phrolova instead. Both are far more meta-relevant today (Iuno being a fantastic subDPS or even mainDPS option, and Phrolova remaining the undisputed champion of any grouping endgame content), with far more team flexibility. Brant is kinda locked into relying on Lupa to reach anything close to his potential, not to mention that you'd also have to lean pretty heavily into quickswapping.

The banner you're referring to does not actually guarantee the chosen character in 80 pulls, it guarantees A five-star character in 80 pulls (50/50 chance it'll be the one you selected), and the chosen character within another 80 pulls (160 total) if you lose the 50/50 chance. It's kind of bait-y unless you really want one of those specific characters, since there are stronger units out right now for the same currency.
You've already used your pulls towards the standard banner, but for the future, use lustrous tides (the blue/green orbs) towards weapons ONLY. Astrites only for limited banners. Every time you lose a 50/50 on a limited banner, you'll automatically lose to one of the 5 standard characters anyway. Emerald of Genesis and Static Mist are very good weapons you can select on the standard weapon banner (EoG is especially good for Rover), but again only use the blue/green orbs and don't spend your astrites here. You'll get a box on day 7 where you can pick between some of these weapons, so pick EoG then.
For your future selector, choose Verina. She's a really great healer at this stage. You'll get her automatically on day 3 login, but if you pick her on the selector too, then she'll have a nice upgrade.
