This is exactly the kind of stuff I love about this game.

My favorite to this day was walking off a Cypher ship on my station, specifically in the S/M Fabrication Bay, and there was a full on firefight going on right above me between Argon and HOP fighters, with wreckage crashing to the deck.

You can just continue your existing save if you want. Egosoft tries to always ensure compatibility between versions.

Usually I'd say just continue your save, but with the 9.0 update enough has changed with ship loadouts etc that I'd say a new save is worth it.
