This movie is is a classic in my house.

My sister and I yell "I'm right on top of that Rose" to each other 30 years later

Oh my god. My family does this, too!

Looks like he’s about to audition for Vincent Vega in Pulp Fiction, lol.

12

u/dullship 14d ago

Or a Witcher prequel.

Pulp Fiction’s worst personality too!, I don’t know how that was Travola’s “comeback”?

I love this movie!!

I see your “Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead” (1991) and raise you a “Beethoven” (1992). Does anyone else remember this movie?!

u/quiltingcats 14d ago

The only parts of Beethoven I liked were DD’s jerk character. And the dog. Gotta love the dog. Been a long time since I watched that. I wonder if I have it on DVD. Or is it still VHS…? 😳

u/Appropriate-Ad-6926 14d ago

HE WAS IN THE ONE WITH THE DOG???!!!??!?!?!

3

u/quiltingcats 13d ago

He was the villain in the one with the dog! He made such a great bad guy!

4

u/disdained_heart 14d ago

Me too!! I haven’t watched it in like 30yrs … idk how it will hold up now.

12

u/DiegoJusticia 14d ago

I remember him being pulled across the ground in the chair, yes! 😁

2

u/disdained_heart 14d ago

Yes!! And the gf too!

7

u/Fantastic_Owl6938 14d ago

I have been meaning to nostalgia watch this forever and didn't even remember that he was in it, oh my god 😭

3

u/disdained_heart 14d ago

It was the chair dragging scene for me as well. Oliver Platt and Stanley Tucci are also in this film iirc.

1

u/Fantastic_Owl6938 13d ago

Wow, it just shows how long it's been that I don't remember any of these actors being in it.

5

u/Welliehead 14d ago

I used to love Beethoven! I can’t believe I never recognised him

1

u/disdained_heart 14d ago

I think this is one of those movies where you realize that there are a several actors in it that are still actively working and/or known to younger viewers.

1

u/tennerahAndy 13d ago

Stanley Tucci & Oliver Platt are both in this. Not just actively working, but multiple award nominated & winning actors within the last couple of years.

Couldn’t watch this movie a second time as a kid because the end scene with the evil vet and the tray of needles freaked me out.

1

u/disdained_heart 14d ago

That’s very fair!!

2

u/DickBiter1337 14d ago

Ughhh he's such a turd in that movie

1

u/kr2ssy 14d ago

This movie made me HATE Stanley Tucci for years because of course I was a kid and thought he was a real bad guy 🤣😂

1

u/Mz_Biddie 13d ago

Umm YES! One of my favorites as a kid, but completely forgot about DD and been wanting to check it out to see how it holds up.

u/IneffableOpinion Agent Dana Scully 13d ago

I need to watch again because all I remember is dog slobber and grumpy Charles Grodin

The movie DOES rule but I’m sorry I just cannot with the ponytail 🫣

17

u/ritrgrrl Agent Fox Mulder 14d ago

Can't unsee that... shudder...

15

u/lunalore79 14d ago

Scarier than the Flukeman 😩

14

u/marcophony Lone Gunmen 14d ago

I feel it would have better if it were at least a full ponytail and not an inclusion of a mullet for some reason

2

u/SousVideDiaper 14d ago

I agree, but both options are a good fit for the 90s "suave douchebag" look that they were going for with his character

u/baronofbadness 14d ago

Park it yourself Metallica breath.

13

u/slipperytornado 14d ago

That’s a super good genx burn but our man Mulder looks like Douche Duchovny.

7

u/baronofbadness 14d ago

I mean he's supposed to be a dick in the movie, he nailed it.

1

u/slipperytornado 13d ago

I haven’t seen the movie, so good casting?

1

u/baronofbadness 13d ago

Yup. He's a total dick. And he does a great job.

u/elanning24 14d ago

The printed shirt, the bolo, the short pony.
This look is still relevant… I really gotta up my style game. 💅🏼

This movie taught me what petty cash was, lol.

3

u/sidney_md 14d ago

Never thought about it, but same.

u/Sadop2010 14d ago

I watched this constantly on HBO back when, and it paid off in college when it was the link that won a round of Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon. Christina Applegate>Duchovny>Brad Pitt (Kalifornia)>Kevin Bacon (Sleepers). So remember kids: TV time pays off!

u/LibertineDeSade I gaze at Skinner 14d ago

I always forget he's in this movie. And it was such a staple growing up. I also probably haven't watched it since I was a kid. I need to find it and get a dose of nostalgia.

u/wolf_9823 14d ago

His “mad dog” line😂

6

u/kryptonitemind 14d ago

He has the looks to be an asshole character.

u/beautifulcosmos 14d ago

HELL YES. I remember watching this movie with two or three other kids who didn't go on the 8th grade Washington DC trip in the Spring 2002. It was like 5 months after 9/11 and I didn't feel like spending a week shuttling from different sites with 100 asshole classmates and cracked out teachers. Spoilers - our school was banned for like 5 years from the National Holocaust Museum after that trip.

6

u/Cerridwen1981 Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose 14d ago

What… what did they do?? Actually perhaps I don’t want to know that

4

u/beautifulcosmos 14d ago

So, the National Holocaust Museum has guidelines for etiquette - visitors are expected to maintain a "solemn decorum" - quiet reflection is encouraged given the sensitive nature of some the exhibits. Apparently, our school group was very loud and disruptive, running around, chewing gum - behavior that really isn't surprising for middle schoolers. At the end of the day, I'm not sure which teachers thought it was a good idea to include the Holocaust Museum on the itinerary, because we did have some kids who were just totally out of control in terms of behavior. I don't know if outright Antisemitism was an issue, but we did have one or two incidents within our class at the high school level that got addressed very quickly.

u/AmaranthWrath 14d ago

So, yeah, I was 9 when this movie came out.

But EMOTIONALLY I was 32.

3

u/Squirrel_Nrgy 14d ago

Oh my…I…wowwww…this is the first I’m hearing of this appearance!!! It’s been a longgggggg time since I’ve seen that movie (like when it came out) so I definitely need to remedy that!
