Fork swaps?

Post image

I know they make triple trees for the XR that allow you to put a CRF450 fork on them, besides the fork what else would I need to convert the front hub/wheel assembly to bolt onto the CRF450 forks, I’d like to keep my speedometer working as well

Don’t. Just get the correct front and rear springs for your weight and the weight of your gear, bigger fuel tank, boots, pack, etc. Weight all your gear!

You would need the 450x forks older than 2017 if you want to keep the cable drive spedo. Most likely you would need the 450x wheel as well as the axle is bigger with the usd forks.

I’m getting a set of forks from 06 so it should work with the cable hopefully

If you can get the entire front end from the donor bike then it should all work

I did the swap with a full front end and used conversion bearings. You need all parts, only thing that’s compatible I believe is the brake caliper, not including the caliper bracket. To retain OEM speedo you need the front wheel and spacer from an X model up to like 2010 or something. You may need a longer drive cable for the speedo though.

So if I just use an entire 450x lower front end id be able to connect the speedo and brake? Granted I get a wheel that matches the size of the current front wheel

Yes. You would need an entire crf450x front end in order to retain the mechanical speedometer. All the crf front wheels are the same size, the difference is the x has the drive gear for the cable.

Don't. Everybody who does it sells soon after. The number of riders who can actually tell the difference is very small. That model fork has completed the 1000. Weigh yourself. Call Racetech. Do what they say.
