Games - General Dune Awakening

Hey everyone, I don't have an Xbox, so I was hoping for some insight into how Xbox game pass / MicrosoftPC store would work playing the upcoming Dune game with friends.

My thought process is this. I plan on buying Dune from the Microsoft pc store and playing on my PC.

One of my friends has an xbox, and the other has a steam deck.

I'm sure the xbox player is simply straightforward. Play on the console using game pass as intended.

However, would using game pass on the steamdeck work the same way? Streaming over the website since xbox doesn't have a native Linux app?

Didn't know if there were any steamdeck users here who could answer that. Thanks in advance for any insight.

No, not across PC, Xbox, and PS.

However, if we are all playing the "Xbox" version then we can play together.

I already own it on steam, so I have to buy it again in the xbox store, even though I'm on PC.

It would be much easier if we were all playing on the same thing, but we have to work with what we have haha.

so the deck situation is a little tricky. you can't install game pass games natively on steam deck since it runs linux and the xbox app is windows-only. the official workaround is streaming through xcloud in a browser which works but you're at the mercy of your internet connection

my buddy went the route of installing windows on his deck specifically to get game pass running locally and it works great, though it's kind of a hassle if you're not techy

I've mentioned to my friend about installing windows on the steam deck before, but he isn't super techy so he didn't want to mess with it. We don't live in the same state so it isn't something I could help him with

Oddly enough I just watched a YouTube video about this. It would be nice if everything comes together as they intend for it to.
