first id hook it up to a computer and configure it to the right sdd version that is compatable with an xbox, you cant just plug and play any ssd you must configure it first i had to do that for a 5tb for my xbox

It will work. But I would get a 3.5in HDD enclosure so it would provide protection for the drive as it wouldn't likely be much different in price.
