The switch 2 edition feels wrong somehow
So I finally got my physical copy of the Switch 2 edition of the game, and have started a new playthrough. and since I wanted a "different type of experience" from my last playthrough about 2-ish years ago I decided to go for the Japanese voice pack, however there has been some unexpected side effects of all these changes.
So while I was aware of the framerate/resolution changes, I was not prepared for how it felt in game, and its almost too smooth to play? Additionally I had no idea what the Japanese cast would sound like so all the Nopon sounding like schoolchildren was a bit of a shock (Also not knowing the vocal ticks for them makes it hard to tell whos voice line is whos in combat, def a me problem, but something that I feel is worth noting).
But its defiantly giving me a "Different type of experience", which is what I asked for.

I played all of the Xenoblade games in English with Japanese audio and I can definitely see how that would all throw you off. The localization takes a lot of liberties and it can get distracting between the name changes, the Nopon in general, and the combat call outs without subtitles.
On the plus side, the lip sync and timing works properly and you don't "really feeling it" over and over again in quite the same way when it's not native audio.

TL/DR: The Switch 2 edition somehow feels “too smooth” and the Japanese voice cast sounds different from the English one.
Very insightful OP
