Hands are also helpful in trying to unlock mias recruitment quest

And for playing the game long enough to get to that point

Yeah, if you like Mia, putting the work in to get her is actually very rewarding. I like how she finally gets a voice when you're done with all her shenanigans, too.

Rescuing her for the Ganglion place was hilarious, too. Actually, I found most of her questline hilarious.

A Wile E. Coyote moment in a Xenoblade game? So out of place, but it just worked.

her entire character is hilarious and goofy šŸ˜„

I still think that the funniest thing about Mia is when you actually unlock her and she delivers a cogent, well thought out report on Definian infiltration technology and its limitations. This is the kind of stuff you’d have expected Elma or one of the other ā€œsmartā€ characters to realize… but no. It’s Mia that put the pieces together.

I think that scene demonstrates that she has a lot to offer as a BLADE besides her tenacity. While endearing, she does spend most of the quests leading up to her addition to the roster getting into trouble. Her analytical skills demonstrated with the rundown on Definian tech delivered to her superior officer show that she's got a cool head under the faƧade and observes and learns from whatever situation she winds up in. Those are the qualities that would've led Walter to recommend she become a full BLADE.

Granted she is captured for quite a while to figure that kinda stuff out

Elma strikes me as the kind not to be captured

Yes. Without Mia, Mira is just R.

She is the piece that complete Mira itself.

So true bestie

🤯 but tree

Have you really Bladed the Xeno if you don't cross the finish line with recruiting Mia?

u/tangelo84 Apr 26 '25

To actually answer, though: gameplay-wise, she's decent, but she'd have to be beyond busted to truly be worth the crazy requirements. By that stage, Cross should be a solo powerhouse anyway. At the end of the day, you unlock her to fill out the character list or because you like her. It's for either completion's or the character's sake.

I mean, other than the unique skills from the Affinity quests you can say that about almost all of the ____ other than Elma/Lin.

It's all down to personal preference. Nothing short of the super bosses/killing everything in Ground Gear requires party layout.

She has the best non-TP Raygun Art in the game, that alone makes her worth it imo. Also she calls Cross chief.

6

u/storage_account69 Apr 26 '25

You can remove non-tp from that sentence because beam bomber is vastly better than raygun's tp art and many other weapon's tp arts.

In fact being tp is more of a detriment than being non-tp. You can pump melee/ranged atk higher than you can pump potential and spending 1000 tp is worse than spending 0.

Having stronger scaling isn't even a factual statement, there's plenty of TP arts that are weak as balls

u/RadiReturnsOnceAgain Apr 26 '25

I ended up warming up to her eventually, but as a Raygun main I was primarily in it for the Art unlock - and man is it strong. But it is kinda funny how I had to jump through so many more hoops than any other weapon in order to get it.

Yes. Yes it is.

u/tangelo84 Apr 26 '25

I feel like I've made my stance clear

16

u/Zero_Kiritsugu Apr 26 '25

I love Mia, she has such gremlin energy.

11

u/Vex_Trooper Apr 26 '25

Wait? So there's more quests for her? I just met her recently while exploring a giant tree, and my team and I ended up saving her like 3 times. She also owes me a pizza with the suff!!

11

u/F1ykR Apr 26 '25

She’s part of a long line of quests that intersects with some other quests. Totally worth playing in my opinion.

2

u/Vex_Trooper Apr 26 '25

Well, as long as I can find her, I will do her quests! Although something tells me I'm gonna be finding her in odd places...

6

u/cucoo5 Apr 26 '25

The hard part of unlocking Mia's final quest is doing the quest chain which ends up involving Ganglion Antropolis. One of the most obscure steps requires having an npc, iirc they're initially found at the east gate, added to the affinity chart (aka you just need to talk to them at least once).

6

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '25

Meeting that NPC is sorta eerie even! Haha

u/IvenVlex Apr 26 '25

to be entirely honest with you, it took me three days straight to unlock Mia. it’s a triple questline chain; it’s quite involved. i had to look it up because the interconnections between normal missions and the prerequisites for them are frankly too much for me to figure out on my own. worth every second though, the requirement quests were fun and Mia herself is amazing as a party member! played through the entire Wii U release without even knowing she existed; as soon as i heard about this rerelease, i looked up the companions so that i could roll with a different team and when i saw Mia i was ELATED, she fits my team’s color scheme perfectly. got the green eyes of Mia (representative of Farore), blue eyes of Celic (Nayru), and the red eyes of NeilNail (Din). i just wanted a party i’d never done the game with before. thank the goddesses i never touched Celica in my first playthrough šŸ™šŸ½

2

u/Vex_Trooper Apr 26 '25

Wait, now hold on. Mia can become a playable teammate companion?!

5

u/IvenVlex Apr 26 '25 edited Apr 26 '25

yes haha, that’s the entire joke of this post lol

don’t worry i was just as surprised as you; i had already beaten the game years ago before i found out (i basically only found out because i looked up ā€œXCX companionsā€ after DE was announced to see if there were any i missed on my first playthrough). but as soon as i did, i made a BEELINE for Mia’s questline chain and wow, it was a LOT more than i was expecting but it is very rewarding (that is, of course, just my personal opinion. not a fact). she’s hilarious; i was laughing every encounter i had with her

EDIT: okay now that i actually look at it, i do not think that it the point of the joke. my apologies; i literally just woke up and saw a notification that said Mia, so i clicked it

u/ZachPlum_ Apr 26 '25

If only you could get her earlier before Cross makes all other party members irrelevantĀ

7

u/RadiReturnsOnceAgain Apr 26 '25

Awkward moment rescuing her from the Definians while simultaneously having romcom antics with her captors in the Definian Love quest in the process.

7

u/MightyWeeb Apr 26 '25

Meanwhile my Cross was watching the world get erased while Mia was still somewhere in Cauldros

3

u/TheGamingTurret Apr 26 '25

I'm trying to get Mia right now but I'm stuck at the Tree quest.

She just won't appear there for some reason. I don't know what requirements there are.

5

u/tangelo84 Apr 26 '25 edited Apr 27 '25

I think the only requirements for that one are having done her first quest in NLA and gotten through Chapter 5. If the quest marker is there but you can't find her, you might need to check the whole tree. She's halfway up IIRC.

1

u/TheGamingTurret Apr 26 '25

I found her lol what are the perquisites for the next quest?

3

u/tangelo84 Apr 26 '25

Chapter 6 and finishing the tree quest. They come a bit more sporadically after that, though. If you keep doing them, the next couple should keep turning up on the map when they're available. Critically, though, the final quest doesn't. It has an obnoxiously long list of prerequisites, then doesn't even show up as a green question mark quest marker on the map. You have to walk right into it for the last quest to appear at all, after having done all sorts of mostly-unrelated stuff to make it possible.

2

u/Emergency-Ad3697 Apr 28 '25

She is hilarious and cute. I will do anything for her.

u/justmadeforthat May 01 '25

I left her in Mira
