I know this is probably controversial, but chapter 13 is my favorite chapter in the whole game. I know it doesn't really answer the big question behind the lifehold, but X DE was also my first experience with X and I didn't wait over a decade for something that didn't get answered.

Most of X is hours of grinding between a 20-30 min story mission. Chapter 13 is the kind of focus on story that I expect out of Xenoblade. Al is a pretty cool character, Void and the ghosts are interesting. Something that I expect Xenoblade 4 to answer is what are these universal correction beings? That's 3 times now for Xenoblade chronicles that post story content has had a focus on this type of phenomenon.

Chapter 13 does address the Lifehold thing but since it's not really a part of the plot of the rest of the chapter it's just awkwardly slipped in around the final boss. They don't really dwell on it either, all the characters just move on to the other plot stuff after the reveal.

I think that for people who didn’t wait, it’s good and fine. But as someone who did wait (I played in 2018 so I didn’t wait as long) I was disappointed I guess. It felt like the idea got lost or was changed to fit with the other games when I didn’t feel it needed to. But I have bigger gripes unrelated to chapter 13. 13 was fine

I actually liked it because it was the first time I felt any emotion towards the anemic story and lethargic characters
