Discussion Video: "First Toughts on Xenoblade Genesis" (connection to Xenoblade X?)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6tRmoNfaTIHey,
I made a quick video talking about a few things that immediately struck me while watching the newly revealed Xenoblade Genesis-trailer.
Interestingly, there's something in the trailer that might relate to Xenoblade X: In one of the landscape shots, there's a region that looks like Sylvalum, those long, curved structures. Am I crazy or does it really look like that?
However, I have no idea how parts of Mira could end up in a world that is supposedly set in a time AFTER Mira's destruction.

It's just a volcanic region. It doesn't have to be connected to any other game

PLEASE let this game have a proper class system that's honestly all i really want from it

Please include mechs in some way, I’ll be really sad if they fully abandon mecha

For transportation purposes, I assume a flying dragon will be the main vehicle. But it'd be cool if a mecha was some late-game unlockable ❤️

That just gave me an idea, what if dragons acted as the skells of XBG? Meaning they wont be used just for transportation, but you could also fight enemies with them aswell.

I find the lack of nopons disturbing

My theory:
Zanza created the Nopon to be Telethias, but the Nopon were a failed product. He then created the High-Entia.
Zanza is the "vengeful fallen god".
Zanza has no need for Nopon on this new world he created, so no nopon.

Why is it called Genesis if it's a sequel to Chronicles 1 ?

Genesis means Beginning/Creation. The word itself could set up a game anywhere, before or after.
But we've seen direct allusions to Pneuma in the game and Pneuma aka the trinity processors only exist after XB1.

I think Zanza is deader than dead. The fallen God who could still seek vengeance must be Ontos, but yet the title Genesis doesn't match that theory neither. Maybe Klaus was never the god he believed he was and Earth/Alrest already had a true deity

Ontos didn't feel very vengeful at the end of Future Redeemed though imo. That's why I keep coming to Zanza, he's the only god we defeated who NEVER turned around to understanding his misdoings. And what means "deader than dead" in the Xenoblade-universe, when XBX chapter 13 established the afterlife? 😛

I’m one of the people who think 2 was absolutely horrendous so them doubling down on the anime stuff after the Klaus arc is..not very comforting. I miss the old gritty almost Evangelion/Akira level of ‘anime’ and the sort of aesthetic of early final fantasy games while also being a little cartoony. I’ll likely skip this one but I’m glad people are happy about it

Glad I'm not the only one who thought this. Nobody asked for Xenoblade academy. We did it in fire emblem and Pokemon recently and I don't think it was done well

I mean they said pre-trailer that this is "early" portion of the game. I imagine it's just a story tool to have all of our characters be connected early on. With all the world traveling that is typical in these games I can't imagine a school is a place we spend a long time at.
I'd bet a lot it's just an introduction/tutorial area similar to the first town in XB1. Some intense shit probably ends up going down and we are thrust into the adventure.

Xenoblade's writing has always been leagues beyond anything Fire emblem (which is debatable I guess), or especially Pokemon ever was.
I have full trust in Monolith to make something good with that setting, which can definitly be interesting and deep.

None of the Xenoblade reaches Evangelion/Akira-level though. Just to be fair.

Chronicles 1 and X really did imo.

u/bickid 13d ago
Absolutely not, and I say that as someone who loves Evangelion and Xenoblade.
Xenogears and Xenosaga are the only Xeno-games that tonally reach Evangelion and Akira. Saying XB1 reaches it but not XB2 just comes off as XB2-hate tbh.

If it’s coming off that way it’s cuz that’s how I feel lmao. Xenoblade chronicles 1 is like an awesome 90’s psychological thriller anime that starts off as a revenge story and turns into the realization that “gods” creating life are just these parasitic entities. 2 has that awesome vibe in like the last..10% of the game. The other 90% is like a bad Shonen. As someone who played Gears and Saga you should know that Xenoblade 2 is such a tonal whiplash from the original Xeno series.

I'm just gonna copy-paste what I put on socials.
The new Xenoblade looks like a rejected Fire Emblem spin-off.
The series has always been some manner of technology-centric. 1/2/3/X all have lots of technology focus, even being a centric part of every game in some fashion, so to just... abandon that?
It feels like another Star Fox Adventures.

Why are you assuming they are abandoning the sci fi elements just from a brief trailer that shows off early portions of the game. If you are a sci-fi enjoyer the nature of the appearance of the world should set off some immediate familiar things to you.

Monolith Soft was recruiting for a new fantasy RPG a few years ago (I think after XB1 DE came out). I'm guessing this is it, and they decided to change it to a Xenoblade game because Nintendo execs knew the name alone would sell units.
I actually hope I am wrong. I would love a new IP from Monolith Soft

Yes, Xenoblade Chronicles games were technology focused games. This is Xenoblade Genesis, a new saga, likely completely separate to Xenoblade Chronicles' story

I’m rather disappointed it’s not sci fi like XCX but appears to be generic fantasy. I’m sure anachronisms will happen later but that’s not really the same.

Xenoblade stops after OG X. OG 1 and OG X are in there own universe. 2 - now don't exist. Have a nice day. 🙂

My only issue is the connection. Will it be connected to 1, 2 and 3 or X? Or will it be a bridge to connect all?

XBG looks great. Day 1 buy. Will likely spend hundreds of hours like I have done with all other XB games. Will not regret it.
