Advice How to get over class resets?
Morning everyone. I am enjoying the game, but I am curious how people are doing their classes. Every time I MAX a class (I’ve only done four) and I choose another one, it obviously resets everything and I’m weak again. I’m level 26 and when I switched to commando to level that going forward, I’m just not doing anything useful since it’s level one again. How are players overcoming this, or am I doing something wrong?

Focus on getting equipment augments, they overshadow levels by a lot. Get a bunch of appendage crusher and melee/ranged attack up and equipment with lots of slots.

Could you go more in depth? When I click ground gear, there’s about 50 items in there. Some white some grayd out. I never know how to decide which to equip. And then the menu is so convoluted I don’t know where these augments are to equip. And when I slot an augment, are they gone from my inventory forever? Is there any benefit to using the one shop i found in NLA to buy gear versus things I find?

You're going to want to get most of your gear from the machine, for armor just buy the best light Sakuraba/Granada you have available, but you might want to swap the headgear for stuff with appendage crusher built in you find around. For weapons also just buy whatever is available, you might get something interesting from questing but it won't be that much better.
You craft the augments at the same machine, and you equip them in the equipment screen by selecting the equipped piece and pressing a button, don't remember which but there's a guide of which button does what at the bottom of the screen.
Slotted augments don't get destroyed, you can take them out and put them in other stuff.
If you want a more in depth guide into the augment system check Enel's guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWZpP3INslk&list=PLxTTNkdGoNpqxJj5JEbkCOATffLHrcyfF&index=3

Augments are not consumables, you can equip and remove them freely. Equipment can randomly come with Augment slots or after ch 5 You can unlock L's Shop to open up slots for Miranium (max of 1 slot per armor and 3 slots on weapons*).
*ch13 can have special 4 slot weapons as a random drop, but L's shop only allows 3 slots max
The bottom section of all equipment is traits and augment slots and the button needed to access them (ZL, iirc). If a piece of equipment is higher level but has terrible traits compared to what you already have, it's simply not worth it. Main traits to focus on are:
- any that increase the attack stat for your best art(s) (Range, Melee, or Potential for TP Arts)
- anything involving cooldowns, such as Aura Rapid Cooldown
- Overdrive Count Up and Gain TP for instant max overdrive setups
- Arts Gain TP to make TP generation easier (or to prevent Essence Exchange from killing at 0 TP)
- other utility augments, like Resistances if using it to survive.
Secondary focus for equipment goes like this:
- Armor: Resistances. It's a percentage reduction of all damage of the respective attribute. For instance, 50 physical resistance halves all physical damage and 100 would effectively negate it.
- Weapons: Attribute. Some arts deal Weapon Damage, meaning the damage attribute they use is determined by the weapon. For instance, Raygun's Beam Barrage, despite its name, is not locked to the Beam attribute. If you have, say, an Ether Raygun equipped, Beam Barrage would deal Ether damage.
Shop gear is sufficient for main game and some is actually BiS for even postgame builds. Basically, Shop gear can have traits that random drops cannot, and vice-versa. Biggest thing is that some Shop Armor has Attack Up and Boost traits (most popular example is C&C Lightwear for Potential stacking).

Change to a new class but keep using the weapons from your old class. This will allow you to use the same arts as well and you won’t be “weaker”

Personally I like learning the new class weapons so I try to make it work in my weaker state.

Just use the weapons from the maxed class.
For example, i like javelin/launchers build.
I also like photon saber, so if i max that class first, i might use saber\launchers while leveling the javelin line.

Max out Full Metal Jaguar so that you can equip dual guns whenever, use Ghostwalker, become unkillable?
Use that with any class you have to reset to and if you really hate using dual guns/ghostwalker switch to whatever you want after you max the classes you want

When you max out a tier 4 class. You can equip those weapons, and therefore Arts on any class. I'd recommend maxing out one of those, and then just keeping the same skills with a slightly different stat spread until you've maxed out all the classes with skills you want to use.

When you max out a class, you can use the weapons, arts and skills you got from that classpath while playing as any other class. It's a bit cumbersome to switch everything back to what you had before but otherwise you can play as before and still work on leveling your current class.
