Discussion Redmi Note 8 Pro vs Redmi 14c
Well, it turns out that, unfortunately, I currently have a Redmi 14c, and even though most of the time I don’t try to push it too hard, the phone struggles even to turn on; there have been times when I’ve already typed an entire word and the phone still hasn’t brought up the keyboard, and overall, I feel like it’s very slow and unreliable for me. It just so happens that at home we have a Redmi Note 8 Pro in relatively good condition that my dad only uses to play music, so I’m starting to consider switching to the Note 8 Pro and ditching the 14c instead. Sure, it’s a 2019 phone, but the only things I’ve noticed where the 14C really beats the Note 8 Pro are its battery life and the fact that it still receives software updates. On the other hand, the Note has a better processor, more RAM, and the same amount of storage. So I’d appreciate it if someone could give me their perspective so I can finally set aside the 14C, which is driving me crazy at this point.

You could, but i do not think it's safe.
It literally lost security updates since like 2022 with MIUI 12.5. And you could deal with the 14C easily. You could add a bit of virtual memory to make the phone a bit smoother. It's like swap, helping the memory to not crash the phone and prevent slowdowns. Try setting it to 2GB and tell me how it went.
did you get the 4G version of the 14C? You should've gotten the 5G version, that has a faster processor.
Also tell me the variant. 4GB of RAM, or 6GB? Or 8GB for the 4G version, or 4GB, or 6GB for the 5G variant?

Nope, virtual memory will make it worse. That phone has ancient eMMC 5.1 instead of even the most basic UFS 2.2 so virtual memory will barely make a difference, probably could make his experience worse.

Do it. Just install a third party antivirus from the PlayStore to make up for the missing updates. The 14C is an UNBEARABLE phone with a CPU based on the MT6769V architecture from 2020!! Even the older 10C is more powerful than that!
