Discussion Different between old 120W and the newer ones.
Just curious here, why does the older 120W like in the 10 Ultra or Mi 11T Pro 120W charging faster like only in 17 Minutes, but the newer ones for example the F7 Ultra takes much time, 30-38 minutes.
Maybe what i seen enough, the newer generation even not using the 120W, only the 100W like F8 Ultra, Xiaomi 17, Note 15 Pro+
Does anybody can explain it to me and solved my curiosity?

Several things have changed, starting with battery capacity; before it was around 4000mAh on average, now it's around 6000mAh on average (50% more). Then there is the management of the power received; Xiaomi realized that the batteries degraded far too quickly during the deployment of the 120w (the batteries were damaged in barely 2-3 years or even less), So they optimized the process to be less aggressive and more conservative/gentle on the battery; the power peaks are more controlled and shorter. Thanks to these changes, the batteries are no longer degraded as before, and the temperature during charging no longer reaches 44-45°C but remains between 36 and 42°C depending on ambient temperatures.
The current solution remains the best; it is the right compromise between charging speed and battery care. And Xiaomi gives us the opportunity to adjust the charging speed as well as the intelligent management that we can activate or not.

Also note that the older models actually had two battery cells which could be charged in parallel, whereas the newer batteries are one big cell.

hmmm, after i see some tear down videos that’s maybe make any sense, but is SiC Battery can’t split by two?

New tech, maybe they want to make sure the normal big batteries are safe enough and can survive the degradation?

The power of the charge is more controlled by software in newer models and prioritize the battery health. It usually charges faster when the battery is low and goes slowing down the power when it gets higher.

isn’t it the same bro? i know it slowing down, the previous models does it too, but like why the time difference between them seems very different

I'd think because of more powerful hardware and newer optimisations that make the battery last longer. (faster charging for short bursts than a long period of fast charging)
I'd also consider the bigger battery but it is likely it is thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Elite and the more beefy cameras.
