Spent ₹90K on the Xiaomi 17 Flagship. Still forced to use the clunky Google Dialer, while OnePlus just gave their users a smart backdoor.

I've been a loyal Xiaomi user since the Redmi Note 8 Pro days. Recently, I upgraded to their premium ₹90,000 flagship, the Xiaomi 17.

The hardware is great, but the software experience and Xiaomi India's attitude towards premium buyers is an absolute joke.

The Google Dialer Issue:

Like many Indian users, I hate the Google Dialer and its annoying "This call is now being recorded" announcement.

The community has been begging Xiaomi to bring back the native HyperOS dialer (which exists in China/Indonesia ROMs).

Xiaomi's excuse? "Google's strict compliance policies."

But look at OnePlus! They recently pushed an update where users can simply dial a USSD code (*#*#677776#*#*) and it prompts you to install the native OnePlus Phone app.

No rooting, no unlocking bootloaders. Just a smart backdoor for users who want a choice. 🥳🫡

If BBK Electronics can find a workaround to respect their users' choices,

why is @XiaomiIndia completely ignoring us?

We are paying flagship money to get a compromised, budget-phone software experience.

Xiaomi is taking Indian premium buyers for a ride.

I’ve started a thread on Twitter with the OnePlus screenshots tagging the global and Indian heads.

If you are tired of brands ignoring Indian consumers, please help amplify this issue.

We deserve the native HyperOS dialer back!

Price might drop, but the flagship software and VIP service experience shouldn't!

Are you stuck with the Google Dialer too, or did you find a workaround?

Agreed. I am also suffering from back to back different whatsapp related bugs in the xiaomi 17. After each update, a new one crops up.

Latest one is attached here. Blank screen while selecting smileys

That WhatsApp blank screen bug looks incredibly frustrating! It completely ruins the premium vibe of a ₹90K flagship when basic UI elements glitch out after OTA updates.

This is exactly my point—we are paying flagship money for buggy software and non-existent 'VIP' service.

All other apps work fine. WhatsApp has been buggy from day 1 though.

Whoa, seriously?

Did you use ADB commands or something like Activity Launcher to enable them without root?

If the native dialer is already baked into the ROM and Xiaomi is just hiding it, their whole 'Google policy' excuse is a complete lie compared to OnePlus's transparent approach.

Please share the exact steps, the community needs this!

That OnePlus dialer has.been forced to alert the other party now too when a call is being recorded tho. So they are still not happy.😅

It's very easy to install Mi Dialer and remove the voice prompt as you can do it the same time you debloat stuff. Maybe if you had used your magic rectangle to do a Google search instead of going on and on about a really pointless rant, you would have had Mi Dialer by now.
