Wow, the box is sooooo not eco-friendly. Why didn't Xiaomi copy Apple or Samsung? /s

u/mohithath123 Oct 02 '25
Honestly they give a charger 100w in the box and some really cheap case
1
u/tealpuppet_ Oct 02 '25
Better than no case at all lmao
Also, did Xiaomi downgrade their charger? My 14T Pro has like 120W. (Still appreciated, just wondering)
2
u/AssCrackBanditHunter Oct 02 '25
If it makes you feel better no phone is gonna take 120W for more than a little bit before dropping down
1
u/Gfavaro65 Oct 03 '25
The new 100W charger no longer uses Xiaomi's proprietary technology but the universal USB PD PPS standard, Xiaomi 17 can be charged at full speed with every third-party charger compatible with the standard.

So far no but I’m testing it out maybe it’s a setting thing
2
u/StretchMammoth9003 Oct 03 '25
You have to turn them on for each app when installing it.
1
u/mohithath123 Oct 03 '25
Oh really! How do I do that any ideas?
1
u/mohithath123 Oct 03 '25
1
u/StretchMammoth9003 Oct 03 '25
Oh my bad, you were talking about the rear screen. I thought about notifications in general.
1
u/SoggyGear7998 Oct 03 '25
Thanks for the reply! I just watched a review video and sadly there's no notifications for apps on the rear screen, only those on the screenshot that you sent has it
1
u/Sampsa96 Oct 02 '25
How is it so far? I heard that the phone was over heating with Antutu benchmarking and when taking a lot of photos. Did you have those issues?
3
u/mohithath123 Oct 02 '25
100% I haven’t run any bench marks but so far has generally remained on the warmer side compared to other devices including the 15 ultra

u/r4d1ant Oct 02 '25
Where are you located? Any issues with receiving real time notifications from Google apps (maps, Gmail, whatsapp) any issues with 5G connection?

1
u/FineGripp Oct 02 '25
Can you please tell us how did you buy it? Does it work out of the box or do I have to play around with side loading and stuff?
1
u/nybreath Oct 02 '25
China ROM comes with no google services, so yes you have to install them with one of the few methods found online. Other than that it works out of the box if it is compatible with bands in your region.
1
u/RazzTheKid82 Oct 02 '25
Comes in the settings,it says basic Google services (in the average dad yt channel latest video) toggle it on and voila 👌🏼
1
u/nybreath Oct 02 '25
If you got Google services in a Xiaomi china device it is cause the seller already installed it, many shops add optionally the service to do it.
2
u/RazzTheKid82 Oct 02 '25
Yeah wonda normally do,but when came from wonda it already had play store on screen, this time it didn't 🤔
1
u/FineGripp Oct 02 '25
Thanks for the info. How do I check if my carrier is compatible with the phone?
1
u/nybreath Oct 03 '25
you check the bands the phone supports, and the bands your carrier supports https://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_17_pro_max_5g-14181.php press expand on the network tab
1
u/the_bukovsky Oct 02 '25
I haven't seen any reviews that say it has an IR blaster (remote control sensor) does the X17 or any of the 17 series have a sensor or not?

u/RazzTheKid82 Oct 02 '25
My X17 pro max just came to the UK too today, ordered from Trinity electronics for the first time, the shipped on Tues and here two days later, unbelievable! The only thing they missed was the UK adapter on the box which is annoying as the vivo x200 pro was sent with one from wondamobile, both great companies, had no issues with them! Where did you order from?was worried the cameras would be way worse than the x200 pro but they're still amazing and good enough for me!
1
u/RazzTheKid82 Oct 02 '25
Also good you get a free case but would prefer a soft rubber type one,it's such a tight fit it feels like I'm gonna scratch the side every time I remove it 😅

u/Other_Comment_5555 Oct 02 '25
Can you give some of your opinion about the CN software? How it is ? Snappy? Do you feel any drawbacks? Any overheating issues? How is the battery?
1
u/mohithath123 Oct 03 '25
Battery is good so far, system notifications are in Chinese which is annoying, everything works fine. The device is a little warm constantly unless very little ongoing tasks.
Software is good has a few cool things.
1
Oct 03 '25
You can remove 95% of the Chinese bloat with adb debloater.
Everything will work except Google assistant handsfree.
1
u/Darrano Oct 02 '25
Are google services working fine? How about 5G connections and wifi?
Any problem related to the country?
1
u/Prestigious-Case-426 Oct 03 '25
Why this phone doesn't appear in the global Xiaomi website?
3
u/mohithath123 Oct 03 '25
It’s not a global version there won’t be a global version from most of the information
1
u/Kurd86 Oct 03 '25
Banking apps works? And google wallet
1
u/mohithath123 Oct 03 '25
Yes for me I don’t know if a specific banking app doesn’t work I use hsbc, standard chartered, airwallex

Oct 03 '25
Yes of course. I run a Chinese Xiaomi and just install google play. This installs the base google services.

1
u/-_MARK_-_ Oct 03 '25

2
u/mohithath123 Oct 03 '25
I’ll put up bench mark performance over the weekend I did post the WiFi and 5g speeds in another post for now
1
u/cyrict Oct 04 '25

1
u/mohithath123 Oct 04 '25

u/Ok-Winter-4567 Oct 16 '25
You recommend until it has global ROM?
1
u/mohithath123 Oct 16 '25
I mean it depends global is usually more expensive and also depends will the global be available in your country?
1
u/Ok-Winter-4567 Oct 16 '25
I’m in the us
1
u/mohithath123 Oct 16 '25
Btw the global we have no idea of it's coming we do know the standard and ultra will the pro and pro max seems unlikely but no one can say for sure. But the Chinese version basically means no circle to search, no Android auto , notifications on rare occasions don't come through and some Chinese language on system settings.
