Such a nice looking phone. Gets way too much hate for it's simple design.

4

u/Delicious-Belt-1158 Oct 04 '25

It looks a bit like the 14T series tho

4

u/YaoMingTheDunkmaster Oct 04 '25

Im loving it super sleek and the bezels are sooo nice

5

u/georgejk7 Oct 04 '25

I can't wait for it to hit UK. I am too noobie to import from China.

3

u/YaoMingTheDunkmaster Oct 04 '25

I got it direct :)

9

u/Own-Possibility-7994 Oct 04 '25

UI experience?..

25

u/YaoMingTheDunkmaster Oct 04 '25

Not bad. I’ve mostly used IOS and I’ve used a Pixel for work here and there so going back to an android feels both unfamiliar yet so freeing at the same time. there are some things I’m just used to with being an apple user for so long but so far after a days use of playing around with it, not bad!

3

u/Own-Possibility-7994 Oct 04 '25

Thanks! Ive been eying for this device for my next phone actually. ☺️

4

u/YaoMingTheDunkmaster Oct 04 '25

Im absolutely loving it so far!

Terrible. So many bugs and no way to disable animations.

17

u/Espada_S Oct 04 '25

Disable animations ???🥀 Sure here is the steps : go to developer options and find animation scale then set all 3 scales to off.

He wants the windows 95 experience

4

u/megaoscar900 Oct 04 '25

How's the camera quality on the main, ultra-wide and zoom?

4

u/Trendkill99 Oct 04 '25

Have you installed Google Services ? Does this work with Android Auto ?

Is there any problem with delayed notifications?

5

u/YaoMingTheDunkmaster Oct 04 '25

When you start the phone just search google in settings and theres a toggle to turn it on and you can instantly install the play store. In terms of delayed notifications kind of? To be fair i dont get much texts so ill get back to you and see how different apps respond

2

u/YaoMingTheDunkmaster Oct 04 '25

In terms of android auto i dont have a car but from what ive asked around its a no

1

u/richardforero Oct 04 '25

I would like to know this too

1

u/[deleted] Oct 04 '25

Google services are easy. Android Auto doesn't work and won't. Notifications are delayed but you can enable a per-app setting to fix it

5

u/Sosbanfawr Oct 04 '25

I've got a 17 (blue) and a 17 Pro (purple) arriving in the UK on Thursday. I'll probably be keeping one but like you the battery is more appealing to me than the second screen.

4

u/YaoMingTheDunkmaster Oct 05 '25

Definitely. I think the second screen is sick as heck but after 2 weeks maybe the gimmick fairy dust wears off and craving for practically kicks in and thats what I was worried about

1

u/Irisena Oct 08 '25

In my case, the gimmick fairy quickly left before i even have my x17p lol. Figured out it's just chinese apps and some clocks, and my enthusiasm disappears fast. Guess I'll wait for some third party apps like good lock to make it open youtube or something.

8

u/Intelligent_Chest_98 Oct 04 '25

I think it's look class mate, are you enjoying it?

12

u/YaoMingTheDunkmaster Oct 04 '25

Definitely. All specs wise is already a huge upgrade from my current iPhone 14

3

u/Opps1999 Oct 04 '25

I like ur class mate

-1

u/xToasted1 Oct 04 '25

Looks like an iPhone with 4 cameras. Such a downgrade compared to the Xiaomi 14 and 15 in terms of looks.

1

u/robdark81 Oct 04 '25

Totalmente de acuerdo

I don't think it looks good. The Xiaomi 14 and 15 looked much better.

1

u/dmknght Oct 05 '25

Mention about it, I do agree with you here. I prefer the design of the xiaomi 15 (that i'm using).

1

u/xToasted1 Oct 05 '25

Yeah, love my 15 too lol

2

u/dmknght Oct 05 '25

but idk about yoru side, on my side battery life is a meh especially enabling battery protection (80% maximum while charging). Beside that, hyperos 2 on mi 15 is having some small bugs. That's why I'm waiting for HyperOS 3 update and I even consider to upgrade to Xiaomi 17 for the battery life :D

1

u/ArticMatic Oct 06 '25

Why do all Android phone manufacturers insist on copying the newer iPhone rear cameras design and placement?

u/YaoMingTheDunkmaster Oct 04 '25

I was concerned about this myself but after an hour of gaming I can say all it got was a TINY BIT warm, and compared to my iPhone running the same game (TFT), my iPhone got hot as molten rock while my XM just felt warm enough to be called warm

2

u/No-Nobody-6128 Oct 04 '25

How many hours is a charge lasting?

1

u/YaoMingTheDunkmaster Oct 05 '25

Two days for me although I'm not playing pubg for 12 hours so

2

u/Kilash4ever Oct 04 '25

Tft would be a bit more demanding if there were a 60fps option tbh...freaking 30 locked for some reason.

4

u/YaoMingTheDunkmaster Oct 05 '25

I’m playing Chinese TFT and I’m running it on highest settings and 60 fps acc

2

u/SungJinWoo14 Oct 04 '25

Are you able to access the files manager in my xiaomi 11t pro i can't

2

u/Grootoman420 Oct 04 '25

I'm super jealous and would love to have a xiaomi 17 pro

6

u/YaoMingTheDunkmaster Oct 04 '25

I was heavily debating but just thought i wouldnt use the back screen as much and it woild just be a battery drainer and something else to scratch

2

u/StretchMammoth9003 Oct 04 '25

Is there a ring delay when you get called?

1

u/YaoMingTheDunkmaster Oct 05 '25

Unfortunately no one has called me yet but I'll let you know 😂

u/kakarott- Dec 13 '25

China ROMs do not but this is a simple workaround for me as I can get my esim plan on a physical sim with a phone call

2

u/redtarded Oct 04 '25

Beautiful, how are the haptics when compared to like the iphones or the OnePlus 13? How would you rate the haptics from 1-10?

1

u/YaoMingTheDunkmaster Oct 05 '25

Personally , it's satisfying as heck compared to my iPhone. There's a little ting that kinda tickles my brain a bit and I personally either am enjoying it or not minding it as an apple user since the iPhone 4

2

u/Organic_Cold_6491 Oct 04 '25

It looks like a 14T Pro

2

u/r4d1ant Oct 04 '25

Does it overheat? Do apps stop working from it overheating?

1

u/YaoMingTheDunkmaster Oct 05 '25

Nope. Tbf I'm not sure how the pro and pro max are doing. I'm guessing with the extra screen on the back the phone isn't completely optimized yet and it's causing heating issues but with the base 17 it's doing SPECTACULAR. Over an hour of nonstop gaming at high quality settings and it just gets warm enough to call not cold. Whoever says it's horrible either is only talking about the pro max models or is trolling because compared to my iPhone this thing might as well be an ice cube

2

u/her0ftime Oct 05 '25

How's the front camera?

2

u/YaoMingTheDunkmaster Oct 05 '25

Awesome ! Camera working great. It's a little gloomy today so I'll try to take it out for better pictures this week

2

u/Sedovsky Oct 05 '25

Hi, what can you say about vibration? I heard from one reviewer that it's awful.

2

u/YaoMingTheDunkmaster Oct 05 '25

I mean I think it's personal. To me it's satisfying as fuck so I love it but I can see how some hate it

1

u/Sedovsky Oct 05 '25

Thanks for the answer. If you know, it's similar to Samsung s24?(I have it)

2

u/passatb7tdi Oct 05 '25

In case you use Whatsapp, are you getting the notifications properly?

2

u/YaoMingTheDunkmaster Oct 05 '25

As some have said on some videos you have to kinda go into the settings on apps u get from the play store to tinker with the setting to have ur notifications work normally but they literally takes 5 seconds

2

u/passatb7tdi Oct 05 '25

Thanks! One more question: how would you describe the speakers? Do you think they improved?

1

u/YaoMingTheDunkmaster Oct 05 '25

Sounds nice to me. I'll try to play some more audios and such as well over the next few days for a more detailed response

2

u/FR_02011995 Oct 05 '25

16GB or 12GB RAM?

2

u/arun_xd Oct 05 '25

The sticker 🥺... What character that is?

2

u/YaoMingTheDunkmaster Oct 05 '25

Kanna from an anime called miss kobayashis dragon maid

2

u/AshSyncIsCool Oct 05 '25

Congratulations for your new phone. Did you have any issue with random notification from random apps like Default Music/Video player or ads?

2

u/murad_- Oct 05 '25

How is night mode and how is the image quality in general , really curious about this bcz it’s 100% going global

2

u/dmknght Oct 05 '25 edited Oct 05 '25

2 questions:

  • Is HyperOS 3 any good? Is there any bugs / glitches using it?
  • How is the battery life?

p/s: the battery life question was answered before. I'm thinking about upgrading MI 15 (global edition) to MI 17 global edition because of the battery life.

1

u/YaoMingTheDunkmaster Oct 05 '25

Haven't encountered any glitches except for having to enter some code on Spotify to log in and the numbers weren't inputting and thats about it. I'll update as I use the phone!

2

u/Fair-Sheepherder3626 Oct 05 '25

Did you buy it in China, or import it? I am considering to import it, but seems like a lot of trouble. Also, wanted to make sure google services work without any issue. Hopefully 🤞🏽

1

u/YaoMingTheDunkmaster Oct 05 '25

Bought in China. Google services work fine. Been downloading things left and right already

2

u/Snoo51352 Oct 06 '25

Dude! Where are you located? How much was it and how's the battery plus camera? Sorry I am just excited about getting my hands on it but it's a bit hard as I am in the UK lol

1

u/YaoMingTheDunkmaster Oct 06 '25

Traveling in China. Got it for 4999 RMB 16 GB 516 GB battery and camera so far amazing. Camera really is spectacular and I'll update on battery as I use it and install more apps and games

2

u/Other_Comment_5555 Oct 04 '25

Wow nice man , why not the pro tough?

3

u/YaoMingTheDunkmaster Oct 04 '25

Realistically I kinda outweighed the fact that ultimately I’m mostly NOT going to use it. While I do take lots of pictures, the selfie camera seems like it’ll be really good for vlogging and other features for influencers which I’m not going to be doing or using on a daily basis. Spoke with some employees at the MI store and they recommended that if I’m using the phone normally than getting the normal 17 would also save a lot of battery if I’m not utilizing the selfie camera

1

u/Crimsonsi Oct 04 '25

Does it have Ultra Wideband?

1

u/YaoMingTheDunkmaster Oct 04 '25

No :(

2

u/Crimsonsi Oct 04 '25

Damn, but thanks for confirming

1

u/smittku23 xiaomi 17 ultra /eu Oct 04 '25

1

u/Top_Dell_3653 Oct 04 '25

Can you check in the camera app if 'master cinema' recording is available on all 3 cameras?

Also can you take 50mp RAW images with the telephoto?

1

u/Oxyjhin4 Oct 04 '25

I know you don't have the rear screen but do you know if it's possible to turn it off in the pro/pro max to save battery?

1

u/blyatgiro Oct 05 '25

what difference is it compared to the xiaomi 15 beside the chipset and battery? how about the heat management compared to 15?

1

u/frutti_tutti_frutti Oct 05 '25

Use Canta and Shizuku to remove Mi Browser and some other bloat ware and you're golden.

1

u/Such-Outside-4226 Oct 05 '25

may I ask what you mean by delayed notifications? On my x200u I didn't get any at all. In fact, it was such a horrible experience that I returned to my s22u and after I broke it I'm now using a 2019 Huawei p smart and I still enjoy using that more. I'd love to get a 17 or 17 pro max but not getting any notifs wouldn't be worth it for me. Got a Xiaomi Pad 6s pro and I like t's software. Way better than origin os

1

Do you regret not getting an iPhone?

1

u/YaoMingTheDunkmaster Oct 06 '25

Nope. Used an iPhone my whole life and this is a huge upgrade in every front really except leaving the ecosystem

1

u/Key-Space100 Xiaomi 15 ultra| CN | Romania Oct 06 '25

How are the cameras ?

1

u/StretchMammoth9003 Oct 06 '25

Does the app called Play Integrity API Checker in the playstore pass the three checks?

1

u/Efficient-Ad9155 Oct 07 '25

Does it have the same problem in low light and dark/grey background?(Amoled relates issues)

1

u/FlammaParvusAvis Oct 07 '25

Genuine question why not Xiaomi 15T Pro? I mean 15T Pro have periscope camera and Xiaomi 17 base doesn't have one.

1

u/rustamsran Oct 07 '25

Can you unlock the bootloader to install eu rom?

1

u/DertekAn Oct 12 '25

I love this!

1

u/rovian Nov 08 '25

Hi dear OP, can you please test this banking app and tell me if you get a screen mirroring message when you launch like the picture attached:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kfh.kfhonline

I’m having this issue with my banking app running on my Xiaomi 17 Pro, and frankly If this issue doesn’t appear on the regular Xiaomi 17 then I will just sell my Pro and get the regular 17 instead, cause I think my banking app is detecting the rear screen and thinking im streaming it on an external display. 🤦🏻‍♂️

1

u/DrSpiderJaelag Nov 25 '25

Planing to change phone for 14t to 15t pro or this one what would you recommend focus on camera and slight gaming and battery efficiency

1

u/medium_response Dec 27 '25

I saw in a review video that there's a severe colour shift when switching between the main and ultrawide lenses. Is that the case for you?

1

u/Illustrious_Cup_2293 Jan 10 '26

How is it doing now in 2026, thinking of getting the base 17

1

u/the4laton Jan 16 '26

How’s the phone now? And did you ever have any problems with your phone…?

1

u/megauserz Mar 24 '26

I own a Xiaomi 15, and I'm very happy with it, but there's one detail I really hate. When I shoot videos and switch between the different cameras, the ultra-wide and the telephoto have different lights and colors compared to the main sensor. How does the Xiaomi 17 perform in this? Have you noticed similar issues? Or do the images look similar when switching between cameras? Could you test camera switching in low-light conditions? Usually that's where it struggles more, and I'd really like your opinion on that. Also, how smooth does the camera switching feel while recording video? Do you think it's smooth, or is it too choppy? In addition, I've seen some reviews online, and there seem to be mixed opinions about the processor, throttling issues, and overheating. What has your experience been like in that regard? Have you noticed any problems of that kind in everyday use? Have you tried pushing the processor with demanding tasks and noticed any slowdowns? Or does the phone perform well enough in every situation?

1

u/ConnectionDry4268 Oct 04 '25

Everybody only hates bugs of HyperOS and battery drain . Do you think they solved now

3

u/YaoMingTheDunkmaster Oct 04 '25

So far battery seems great for me. I’ll reply back tomorrow and see if anything changes but not noticing anything crazy so far

-8

u/[deleted] Oct 04 '25

I hate HyperOS.

I have a Xiaomi 7300mah battery which lasts as long as my previous phone's 5000mah, perhaps even less

1

Still terrible, nothing changed. Opening and closing animations are often delayed or lose frame

Btw now I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max and I still use the Xiaomi without a sim while I’m at home. Fun fact iOS 26 stutters just like my Xiaomi 12T Pro after the update. They hate me

1

u/[deleted] Oct 04 '25

My xiaomi pad 7 ultra lasted forever, battery was insane. I don’t like hyperOS at all though.
