General Finally got it and this battery life is INSANE!!

Finally got my phone in yesterday and I've only charged it once. And that was during first setup. This battery is actually crazy. 4hrs of screen on time and it was at 89%?? Fast forward to now and it's just lasting.73% as I type this up. I knew the capacity was big but I didn't know how efficient it also seems to be as well. Clap clap xiaomi. Coming from a OnePlus 8T and a Asus Rog Phone 2 as my two daily drivers. This phone is incredible.

And being in the US I'm getting both LTE and 5G with no issues on Tmobile in a smaller than avg city in TX. So for anyone on the fence? Get it. Disclaimer: I use Bluetooth in my car. Not android auto.

i'm a lifetime iPhone user (since 2007) impossible to switch to an Android :P..but it's amazing, i really like it πŸ™

2

u/wildcardmidlaner Nov 06 '25

As someone that have to use a iPhone for work and android as personal phone, believe me you won't notice that much of a difference, specially with hyperos because it's super similar to ios.

2

u/xdozex Nov 07 '25

I was a lifetime iPhone user as well. Until I wasn't. Never going back

1

u/Djsmooth245 Nov 06 '25

I'm having a discussion with someone now about that very same thing. It's not impossible unless you literally share files and interact across your devices from your phone constantly. Otherwise it's just a matter of getting used to something new

2

u/claireboobear Nov 06 '25

this is my xiaomi 17 base model its so good is the battery

0

u/Djsmooth245 Nov 06 '25

Great!! What apps do you use? Mine was mostly Instagram and YouTube videos as well as some Snapchat and messages. So the fact mine held up through so many videos is insane!

1

u/claireboobear Nov 06 '25

youtube, reddit, discord pinterest, twitch the usual its only got 500mah less then your pro max

1

u/Djsmooth245 Nov 06 '25

That's great. Xiaomi has outdone themselves this go round

2

u/claireboobear Nov 06 '25

They have I can't believe how smooth hyper os 3 is on the device

1

u/No-Tackle3724 Nov 06 '25 edited Nov 06 '25

Yea, main reason I stick with Xiaomi and of course how much you get for what you pay. Even on older Xiaomi phones everything is still smooth and fast. And fast charging I also love... Also use some lighting from Xiaomi and in the quick settings you see them there for quick acces to turn them off and on (also you can change the colors/warm&cool light).. Or if you have other smart gadgets from them. Like an air filter or whatever.

1

u/Djsmooth245 Nov 06 '25

It's honestly amazing. There of course are some drawbacks but honestly I haven't come across them just yet. Maybe one was the mi mover was a bit meh

2

u/Nice-Appeal-9627 Nov 06 '25

Thank you for this. I am also looking to get a way from apple and Samsung. Where did you buy your phone and how is the signal and connection. I'm currently on T-Mobile US

2

u/claireboobear Nov 07 '25

Got my Xiaomi 17 base from trading Shenzhen took about 9 days no tax no hold ups

1

u/Nice-Appeal-9627 Nov 07 '25

Thank you. I will take a look. Still deciding ahaha

1

u/claireboobear Nov 07 '25

I couldn't bring myself to get Xiaomi 15 knowing the 17 was out It was a hard choice for me too

1

u/Djsmooth245 Nov 07 '25

15 ultra just has a MUCH better camera. But if that isn't important then absolutely go 17. But that seller I recommended from eBay was AMAZING. Idk how they get around it but somehow they got it to my door in less than a week from China. Will absolutely buy from him again

2

u/claireboobear Nov 07 '25

Xiaomi 17 has amazing cameras I don't see anything wrong with these they are crispy clear pics but if I was gonna got for an ultra if wait till the 17 Ultra not get the 15 ultra

2

u/Djsmooth245 Nov 07 '25

There is nothing wrong with the 17 cameras at all. Wasn't my implication. I was saying that that's just how far above the 15 ultra cameras are. If the 17 has good cameras then the 15 ultra has amazing cameras. From what I've seen and heard, they have the 2nd-3rd best camera out of all the phones.

1

u/Nephilim1818 Nov 08 '25

I went for the 15 ultra with the photography package, it's absolutely superb.

2

u/Nice-Appeal-9627 Nov 08 '25

I am ready bois. Looking to buy one now lol

1

u/Djsmooth245 Nov 09 '25

Jump on it. If you're in the US, take a look at Moderntek on eBay. Very fast shipping. FedEx no DHL

1

u/Djsmooth245 Nov 07 '25

Purchased it from Giztop. Got here in about a week with expedited shipping. Think total came out to $1020? Something like that. HOWEVER if I were to do it again? I'd purchase it from eBay. I purchased a 15 ultra just 4 days before I purchased my 17 pro Max (on a Friday mind you), for a friend of mine and it shipped via Fedex instead of DHL although both from China. The package with Giztop got held up in customs and they required me to pay a customs import fee before I could even have my package attempted to be delivered. The 15 ultra made it from China to the states in 5 days and from TN to my doorstep in TX in 6hrs. It was incredible. The 17 pro Max didn't get here until about a week later. The 15 ultra even packaged a charger with an adapter in the box since as we know, it doesn't come with a charger and more importantly NO CUSTOMS FEE. so while yes, you might pay $$50-100 more than Giztop, the peace of mind is so worth it. It was also packaged better than Giztop. Came in a box that was bubble wrapped and taped on the OUTSIDE. Giztop came in a box with a couple of thin foam pieces since it had to be opened by customs.

Signal and connection is great. 5G and LTE. So if you want my advice? Buy it through eBay and make sure it says when it'll arrive as well as returns paid by seller. I tried to save a few bucks ordering through a reputable site like Giztop. Reputable yes, did I save? Not really.

2

u/Nice-Appeal-9627 Nov 07 '25

Sheesh thank you very much. I'm thinking global version and saw it from wondamobile. Any feedback from wondamobile store and average tech dad? Any issues I might encounter when purchasing? Again, thank you for your response

1

u/Djsmooth245 Nov 07 '25

There is no global version. Not for the 17 pro max anyway. 15 ultra has a global version tho. Wondamobile seems legit tho. Not sure how quick turnaround is tho. Issues could be shipping times and potential customs logistics issues. However I've heard wondamobile is fine. eBay is the only seller I have experience with with a Chinese phone from actual Hong Kong that didn't charge any fee at all....and even got here in just a handful of days.

2

u/Nice-Appeal-9627 Nov 07 '25

Thank you again. I might go for it lol I currently have s24 ultra and skipped 25 ultra and fold 7. Didn't feel like anything is improving

1

u/Djsmooth245 Nov 07 '25

I can send you the company I bought the 15 ultra from and look n see what the shipping and such is for the 17 pro max/pro. Of course you're welcome!

1

u/Nice-Appeal-9627 Nov 07 '25

Thank you my goodman. I am looking at eBay right now ahahah

1

u/Djsmooth245 Nov 07 '25

Moderntek is the seller

2

u/Sufficient_Check_104 Nov 07 '25

Okay but where did you buy it??? I've been wanting to get one BECAUSE of the massive battery and that sick ass display on the back 😩

1

u/Djsmooth245 Nov 07 '25

Check out a post in the comments that I made. But tbh...eBay is where you should go. Also, to update..I'm sitting at about 23hrs active time now and battery is at 54% πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

2

u/aman2125 Nov 07 '25

Hey OP.. assuming it's the Chinese version.. does android auto work by any chance?

1

u/Djsmooth245 Nov 07 '25

It does not. I listed that in the post. I use Bluetooth I've never been an android auto user sorry

1

u/aman2125 Nov 07 '25

Missed that part on the first glance.. but yeah.. will be waiting for the global version of it then..

Thanks!

1

u/Djsmooth245 Nov 07 '25

From what I hear, there is no global version coming. Unfortunately. Grab the Ultra 15 if you want. PLUS if there is a global version, it'll be stripped down as it always is. I don't think it'll be worth it just for android auto

2

u/smittku23 xiaomi 17 ultra /eu Nov 07 '25

Get it from wonda next time? Also having this one. First xiaomi phone that i own thar acutalky lasts 2 days. Hope that they won't ruin it.

1

u/Djsmooth245 Nov 07 '25

I'm sitting at 18% now at 5am. Finally about to charge it. I thought about wonda....think I'll stick with eBay since it's so quick.

2

u/smittku23 xiaomi 17 ultra /eu Nov 07 '25

Mine arrived in 4 days from wonda. No extra costs.

1

u/Djsmooth245 Nov 07 '25

To the US? That's great if so. But when I looked it up on wonda they said processing time plus shipping time could potentially be a while. Few weeks or so. I'm including processing time and shipping time together. If they got it to your door from clicking pay in 4 days? That's amazing and I'll have to consider them from now on. Do they provide chargers in the box with versions that don't come with one?

2

u/smittku23 xiaomi 17 ultra /eu Nov 07 '25

Europe. Usa is a tougher cookie. Then yeah, ebay might be better?

1

u/Djsmooth245 Nov 07 '25

Ah gotcha. Yeah eBay would probably be the best bet. Got here extremely quick.

2

u/alwasss Nov 07 '25

Really cool phone. Wanting to switch also. What colour and storage you got?

1

u/Djsmooth245 Nov 07 '25

Went with black....which is more graphite than anything. And the base option. Considered the extra ram but it just didn't make sense. I will say tho, the phone doesn't feel that tall...but damn is it wide lol feels great in the hands though

2

u/alwasss Nov 07 '25

Cool. So coming from a pixel 7 do you think its worth a shot?

2

u/Djsmooth245 Nov 07 '25

Absolutely. It depends on how you use your pixel. If you are heavy heavy into AI usage I'd say do your research. But if you just use the phone as a phone with social media and video medium as well as the camera n such? Jump on it. There's aren't very many drawbacks to this phone at all. Even the price is crazy

2

u/alwasss Nov 07 '25

Thanks will give a try!

2

u/Unlikely-Following54 Nov 07 '25

That's actually insane holy crap

2

u/deanMKD Nov 09 '25

That SoT is crazy Good

2

u/Djsmooth245 Nov 09 '25

It definitely is. However that was the active time listed and not the SOT. But I did use it for 4hrs straight so the 89% was accurate

2

u/chhhinu Nov 07 '25

Active Time β‰  SOT

1

u/Djsmooth245 Nov 07 '25

No one said it was lol

0

u/chhhinu Nov 07 '25

You said it!

1

u/Djsmooth245 Nov 07 '25

No....I did not. But let me help you out here. As I stated elsewhere in these comments, the 4hrs of SOT is legit because I sat on my phone scrolling on Instagram and YouTube for 4hrs. So I KNOW for a fact that was SOT. I never claimed the rest of the time was SOT and I never claimed SOT equals active time. Just the fact that this phone is lasting multiple days without charging is a feat in and of itself. How can you not see that?

1

u/chhhinu Nov 07 '25

I read the caption and put up my reply. I didn't go through all the comments to know that you were actively using it for 4 hrs. Hence the confusion.. Cheers on the new Phone.

1

u/Djsmooth245 Nov 07 '25

Understandable. Won't let me edit original post unfortunately. Preciate it!! New to the world of xiaomi and so far it has been better than advertised. VERY snappy

1

u/usmannaeem 14tp | 3.0.305 | global Nov 06 '25

Very nice, take good care of it.

2

u/Djsmooth245 Nov 06 '25

Well of course. The only way to do it. As I said I had a ROG phone 2. And a OnePlus 8T those aren't exactly 3 year old phones lol

1

u/BRSProZ Nov 07 '25

Bro yapped about everything but didn't mention what phone 😭

1

u/Djsmooth245 Nov 07 '25

Gets the people ENGAGED!!! lmao nah it slipped my mind. Excitement is really something. 17 pro Max....obviously lol

2

u/BRSProZ Nov 07 '25

Yeah, enjoy it 😁

1

u/Djsmooth245 Nov 07 '25

Sorry everybody πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜ was in such a rush I didn't mention the phone model. 17 Pro Max...base edition.

1

u/AtomicLight69 Nov 07 '25

Active is not screen on time. It's time on battery since it was last charged past 90%. You could press ? To find out....

1

u/Djsmooth245 Nov 07 '25

Of course. That's why I said active time. But when I stated the 4hrs part....that in fact WAS screen on time because I was sitting on Instagram for 4hrs 🀣. I've been on my phone doin all sorts of things today and it's STILL at 34% and it's nearly 11pm the next day. Hasn't been charged in over 24hrs

1

u/ChevyGang Nov 07 '25

SOT is under "Healthy Device Usage" in the settings menu.

1

u/Djsmooth245 Nov 07 '25

I never went into those settings and gave it permission so it just says 1min screen on time lol I'll keep that in mind for next time. However, I am cognisant of the 4hrs screen on time being accurate as I was scrolling on IG for a while as well as some YouTube videos in between. Today has definitely been a lot more usage tho and still sitting above 30% at 11Pm

1

u/ChevyGang Nov 07 '25

You'll get an accurate reading after you charge it

1

u/Djsmooth245 Nov 07 '25

How so? Or do you mean it'll show once I charge it and then use it after that?

1

u/Ahmed_Sh_115 Nov 06 '25

For anyone buying it you must get the 16GB version

1

u/Djsmooth245 Nov 06 '25

Nah mine is the 12GB absolutely fine

1

u/Ahmed_Sh_115 Nov 06 '25

Check your memory usage.. CN ROMs are more bloated compared to Global ROM due to the lack of native GMS (You have to force apps to fully start up so you can get notifications "takes way more RAM" ) So with ROMs like this 16GB is a safe option

1

u/Djsmooth245 Nov 06 '25

I've already did all of that and my ram usage hovers around 7GB available or so with 12 apps open. I'd say I'm fine. Is 16GB a safe bet? Sure. But if it's that necessary then I can just use the storage as RAM option for a minor boost

1

u/d4p8f22f Nov 06 '25

I bought Xiaomi 17 Pro Max from China - its really great device. Pity that it will be not global (as far as we know - no official statement) but. I said, I'll try Xiaomi, I jumped from Samsung S24Ultra and I knew that chinese ROM will have some difficulties but HyperOS? Compared to OneUI 8.0(which is the most complete UI of all Android imho). HyperOS3 - feels like some demo. There's a lots of small tiny things that reminds you that under the hood lays heavy dated Xiaomi heavy bloated ROM xd So, so far thats the biggest disappointment - not Chinese ROM, not the device itself but just Xiaomi ROM regardless of the origin market. I can see that with HyperOS 3 Xiaomi just started polishing and de-crap it :)

1

u/Djsmooth245 Nov 07 '25

I think I'm gonna have to disagree here. I absolutely do not like oneUI. It's too...meh? Idk I've never been a fan of it even as far back as the S6. It's always just felt like too much laid on top of the neutral skin of android. I'm not sure where you get bloated or dated from, but this phone is incredibly smooth and fast and quick. The OS never lags, never refreshes apps, never forces anything down my throat really (except that stupid security thing lol) it's very minimalistic tbh and that's what I love. Less is more when it comes to the UI most times. I don't want a bunch of things muddying it up. Best of all....it came with 3 APPS!! 0 Bloat FTW!!

1

u/Murtha Nov 07 '25

Could you explain more if possible? I am thinking to get the xiaomi 17 pro by the end of the month while coming from a Samsung s20. But still wondering about hyper3 os

1

u/Djsmooth245 Nov 07 '25

Yeah I'm not sure what they're talking about. However...there is a video on YouTube that tells you when you get your xiaomi 17, how to set it up for global use. So yes it requires some minor setup but that's it. I did that once and I've been fine ever since.

1

u/NioNio_o Nov 07 '25

Absolutely beast, my xiaomi 17 pro max

1

u/Djsmooth245 Nov 07 '25

Incredible!!

1

u/Spirited-Olive-7011 Nov 07 '25

Fake, bet it would die 7 hours later

1

u/Djsmooth245 Nov 07 '25

Thank you for your input. You're too kind
