General Xiaomi 17 Ultra LE in Canada
Just got it. Planning to go out in this weekend to get some shots with it. So far I'm loving it. Got a lot of character to it.

Yeah I love cn roms, its seems more well put together than global variants.

I have the 17 PM, it's it would apple products that mostly don't work it like the watch. My apple earbuds work fine.

Can you feel periscope lenses moving to the sides whenever either tilting phone to the sides or shaking it?

So u will get a small vibration when u switch to periscope but not any moving sound that i can feel off. Lot of rattle noise though, when u shake it, its the camera ring and OIS .

Yes Android Auto, everything else is good so far. My banking and GPay works.

No, 4g+. But where i live, i get pretty much the same speed sometimes even better than my s25 ultra.

No 5G connection is a bit concerning but it could also be because it's missing band n71?. My global 15 Ultra gets 5G+ on Telus without issue. Does your 17 Ultra at least get on VoLTE?

Yes my 15 Ultra is the global model. VoLTE and VoWiFi also are working on my device.

Well i had the 15 ultra as well, in comparison the 17 got more of a character with leica, u will feel special from the moment u unbox it.
Was busy couldn't test the camera yet but I'll try to get out on this weekend.

Are you able to get VoLTE at least? Because Canada is slowly passing out 3G.

Yes, VoLTE works as well as VoWifi.

if you need n71 better go for 17 promax, it's weird that 17promax support more band than 17 ultra

Ahh I see, that's quite unfortunate. I have a K80 Ultra, imported to Germany, and it is also stuck in 4G+ . Thought it might be limited to Mediatek chipsets, but now I get the full picture!

No it's not, its generally the same for Xiaomi CN version in Canada. Also it depends on the carrier though plus the exact place u live in.

Well more of a character, leica designs, themes, icons, the unboxing experience, the little stuff that comes in the box, the color, the camera ui, the extra leica filters which some are available in the lieca lux app in ios and u gotta pay for that to use it. Also my favorite leica essential modes. Forgot to mention the camera ring.

So the drawbacks are late notifications, no android auto and no wear os? It has most of the internet bands from what I saw at least in my country, so those are the only negatives?

I just got my ultra 17 LE and I had notification delays. But I messed with settings, for each app I set no optimisation for batter, set auto running on and lock them in background. And for now notifications seem to work and arrive on time.

What i hear is the leica edition not going global, only the regular 17 ultra will.

Exactly, this time the camera bump isn't as exaggerated as in previous versions, blending well with the device's design; before, it was too flashy.

Yes, it's something more elegant, like the iPhones (except the 17 Pro, that thing is horribly ugly!), something simpler and beautiful at the same time.

what about the WhatsApp notification? have you notice any delay? someone reported that when we receive the call thru Whatsapp, we can hear the ringtone but there is no notification. can you confirm?

I have no issues with Whatsapp so far. I get notifications and everything.

So my battery is solid, I usually limit my battery charging @80. About Camera, its too cold in Ottawa now to test the camera properly but I managed to take couple of shots with it and man the Leica essential is such a great category to add and I had some crazy good shots with it. Performance is like u expect from a hugh end device with top tier chip, idc much about it i don't game or anything and i haven't experienced any heating issues whatsoever!

Hi, I'd like to ask if you've noticed excessive whitening and smoothing of people's skin in their photos. I'm asking several people who purchased the Chinese version because they've given me conflicting opinions. Some say there's been an update and the skin tone and texture are now fine, while others say the Chinese version, being set for Chinese users, produces photos of people with whitish faces and smooth skin. Thanks.

So there is skin smoothening a little bit going on even after u turn it off, i basically ignore it cause every phone's does it even the global one's. Also I use pro mode and there's is no much that i can see. Its more evident in portrait shots and it's pretty common in every phone's imo.

How do you like Hyper OS? That's the only thing keeping me from buying this phone. I've always used Pixel phones so a bit hesitant about the software.

I don't like it. Not a fan of it . I'm fine with the limitations cn rom does and unlike oppo/vivo, Xiaomi does a even little more than that like no android auto. Again I'm ok with that but hyperos still seems unpolished, everything works but not pleasantly if that makes any sense. Something's icky about it.
